I mean if you insist

For context, this happened at a Portland Timbers soccer game last night. And just to have the confirmation that this is in fact, real:

.

I WIN, MICHAEL! I DID IT FIRST!

(Honestly I don't know if you posted the same thing or not, I'm just assuming you did for comedic flair)

No, I asked if Bombsfall had seen it, before clicking on your link.

Nice.

Why is he referring to Kenobi as a province in the Philippines?

Now THIS is pod racing!

How do they not have any money, or any credit, or any financial instruments at all if they are representatives from a substantial organization?

They did but their money was no good on an Outer Rim world like Tatooine.

The most-visited outer world in the Star Wars universe doesn't have a currency exchange? A missed opportunity for an enterprising Jawa.

I want to know what happened between Phantom Menace and Book of Boba Fett that Mos Espa could go from "galactic credits are worthless" to "Mando casually hops on a commercial transport ship flying non-stop to the busy spaceport."

Mando is 5 years post ROTJ...

2 death stars were built and destroyed? Galactic Empire rose and fell? Jedi were massacred, believed extinct, and then returned. A lot happened.

Watto only said they were no good for him, not that they were worthless on all of Tatooine. Much like if I tried to buy a part from an American junkyard using nairas or cedis. Qui-gon could easily have found a different junkyard/mechanic who would accept them (or at least who he could use the Jedi mind trick on to force them to accept them), or even find some place to exchange his Republic credits for currency that was "more real" like Watto said he wanted, but then he discovered Anakin. The bet on the pod race for the ship part was always just a cover to free Anakin so he could be brought back to the Jedi Temple.

And how would any of that have affected a backwater sh*thole like Mos Espa? A significant part of the plan to hide Luke involved Anakin never wanting to set foot on Tatooine ever again. I doubt he would have tagged it for an economic development program, and I can't see anyone else caring enough one way or the other.

I don't have a problem believing that it did change in that amount of time. I'm just curious as to why. Not enough to actually want more stories set on Tatooine, mind you, but I am curious.

Bear in mind that I'm one of those weirdos who actually liked the political threads in Phantom Menace and was disappointed when they largely cut those out of the next two films.

I wouldn't know what the cannon explanation would be, but I personally would think that the Empire is to blame, not in developing Tatooine, but in squeezing the remains of the Republic, forcing scores of refuges, outcasts, and criminals to the Outer Rim to escape and do business, all bringing with them a large influx of Imperial Credits and the need to do business in them, forcing the planet to start using the currency alongside others.

Can't imagine many commercial transports fly in and out of Tatooine, but there could have been a need after the Empire fell as the displaced population started to reconnect with the new Republic.

But that's just my shower thoughts on the matter.
