NBA 2021-22 Season Catch-All

Rudy Goberisota, looks like.

Every time I see Windhorst on TV, which is not often, he looks bigger. I like his podcast and selfishly as a fan I hope he can lose weight and stay around for a long time. Not many people that look like him make it into old age, I hope he does.

I love the Friday episodes of Windhorst's podcast. The trio all work great together (even when one's calling the other a jackass for the devil's advocating).

I'm intrigued by the Towns-Gobert çombo for Minny. Not too sure about the trade with all that draft capital, but not every team needs to be Championship or bust and it would be nice for the Wolves to be just good.

Already seen a few good cracks about all the Almost Trades Danny Ainge is going to make with those picks.

Wolves get:
Rudy Gobert

Jazz get:
Malik Beasley
Patrick Beverley
Walker Kessler
Jarred Vanderbilt
Leandro Bolmaro
‘23, ‘25, ‘27 unprotected firsts
‘26 first swap
‘29 top-5 protected first

For Rudy Gobert? Well... hope it works!

That’s way too damn much for Gobert IMO. Jesus.

Hey I'm happy as hell for Donovan. Jazz been on a tear with top record even one year but can't get through playoffs because Rudy kept getting spread on defense. Time to move on and play small ball.

I agree. And some of these trades people are throwing around for Durant seem crazy too. Why would you give up multiple good players plus 3+ first round draft picks for a 34 year old that has averaged less than 60 games played for the last five seasons. I know he is a great player right now, but are you really mortgaging your future for the next 7-8 years for what is maybe 2 good years left? Maybe he will prove me wrong and still be great 5 years from now.

Yes?!

He needs to get away from Kyrie...

I would not at all be surprised if he’s the next one out of town to a historically bad team that Ainge wants to take advantage of.

I get that you’re a Louisville fan and so he’s your guy but I think Mitchell is just as much a part of the problem. He was lauded coming into the league as a game changer on defense due to decent size (6’3”) and a great wingspan but turns out he’s two inches shorter than reported and has regressed hard on defense. He’s good on offense but I don’t think they are better without Gobert than with.

Malcolm Brogdon to Boston for basically one pick next year and Aaron Nesmith is a great deal for the Celtics, I think.

Also makes me super sure that Myles Turner will be traded.

Ya I really liked that one also * being Brogdons previous injuries. Him + the team getting playoff experience this year makes them a serious contender to repeat to at least Eastern finals.

Random news article pop up from CBS:

Kevin Durant only wants to play for Heat if Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry remain there, per report

I wanna like Durant. But he's really low key Kyrie silly.

How the heck is Miami going to give up enough salary to match doing that? Haslem sign-and-trade?

Seriously. That’s a crazy haul.

Played around with the trade machine (the fanspo one, not ESPN's terrible one) this morning and the Ayton base-year-compensation concerns I had were way overblown.

Means the Nets have to take on a bit more filler salary but Phoenix has plenty of guys who can be used for that. Only thing is they'll have to include one of the useful Saric, Payne, or Crowder trio in the deal to make it work.

Ayton + picks beats any other deal I can see out there unless Toronto's offering Barnes.

Wow, the Dubs already lost GP2 and Juan Toscano Anderson?
Boo!

I hope the Mavs get something good in Free Agency , after losing Jalen Brunson the new season doesn't look so good.

Not a JaVale McGee fan?

Can't say he is exactly what i was hoping for...
I have my fingers crossed for a better acquisition, if we don't get nothing we definitely took a step back this offseason.

Windhorst claiming the Nets upper their ask after the Gobert trade.

I find that hilarious. The Gobert and Murray trades didn't set the market for win-now deals, they depleted it by removing the two team from the marketplace.

Woj was still carrying water for the Nets yesterday saying the package for Durant would be immense. I still don't see it.

Defector did a good write up on how Durant has no leverage, other than having a disgruntled star as the face of your franchise, but they've already got Kyrie, so...

Who is going to have the resources to supply Nets with KDs worth...and still think that investment pays off given he's in his mid 30s?

And you'd have to factor in that KD will probably want to move on in 3-4 years...

Ah, I love absurd NBA summer league hype. NBA YouTube has already declared that Chet Holmgren, Josh Giddey and Kenny Lofton, Jr. are already All-Stars.

To me it seemed like a check mark on the path to success in the NBA. Imagine if Chet hadn't performed that well in the Summer league against players with next to no NBA experience...
