Gaming video Catch-All

My measure of when a game is over is when I notice I've gone back to playing Rocket League instead. A game only exists as long as it can distract me from Rocket League. Sad but true.

Coincidentally it's 79% off on Fanatical right now

Looks promising.

Gotham Knights - Official Nightwing and Red Hood Gameplay Demo

That looks... awful!
It is so stilted, stiff and repetitive. (and bullet spongy)

So... your going to make a Batman game, but not have Batman in it!?

I thought it looked ok. As long as the story is interesting.

*watching it again...I know comics are make believe but when Nightwing just pulls a glider out of the air to fly around on and when they say "red hood uses non-lethal rounds that..." I just rolled my eyes. It strains things to the breaking point.

It has Batgirl, Robin, Robin (nightwing), and Robin (red hood).

I laughed at "time for some vigilante justice" and "non-lethal rounds" too, and later on in the video a goon gets kicked off the top of the building. I know it's just part of these games, but still find it entertaining.

I admit that since i have no attachment to Nightwing or Red Hood as characters, this video didn't do much for me. It just felt like a prettier version of the previous Arkham games, and I'm not sure I need more of that.

Gotham PD deploys inflatable safety stunt bags before starting the OP so that criminals knocked off the building don't die ;P

Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong Review "Buy, Wait for Sale, Never Touch?"

This podcast has changed the way I’m playing and appreciating Far Cry 6. Far Cry’s sound design has occasionally caught my attention before with enemy chatter or shell casings landing on wooden railway sleepers but I’m now listening to and appreciating every aspect of the sound in this game; from theme music and the songs on car radios to the sounds of Dani trudging over wet gravel or Juan Cortez ‘fluck, flucking’ his way across the floor of a concrete bunker in flip flops.

Hogwarts Legacy - Next Gen Immersion Trailer

This was a really fun video about a really fun racing series.

I still have my PS3 hooked up to play Motorstorm with my kids. We’ve played lots of newer racing games but keep going back to Motorstorm. Has anyone found a new game that captures that magic?

I've only played the Pacific one and the RC one, but now I wanna play the rest after that video.

I think the only thing that MIGHT come close is Wreckfest, but for different reasons. Apparently the same folks who made these made Dirt 5, which apparently shares a lot of DNA with Motorstorm but I've yet to play it.

Dirt 5 got some splitscreen play at our house when it first landed on game pass. Not sure why we haven't been back since. I should throw it on again and see how they respond. I play Wreckfest myself but my family hasn't got into it. The lack of splitscreen might be part of it as they like to join whatever I'm doing and they can't couch coop with Wreckfest.

Pacific Rift is the Motorstorm I've played the most but I remember trying the original game demo at a store when the PS3 first came out and being blown away years before I owned my own PS3.

Races mixing different types of vehicles together is one of the things my family likes about Motorstorm.

That's one of the things I love most about it. They have a Guinness World Record for it.

This has a lot of promise. I like all these folks.

I missed Summer Games Fest live and only watched the bits for games I was actively excited about so I skimmed over Fort Solis. Watching the segment just now has piqued my interest not so much with the trailer, which was underwhelming honestly, but in how Roger and Troy were talking about the game. There’s clearly a ton more they aren’t showing yet. I hope it’s as good as it sounds.

It's nuts what people can still make the DooM engine do... Looks incredible!

Something I really enjoyed recently:

Now you got me going down some video game / TV acapella rabbit hole!

The stand in BEYOND! Crew loosing their minds talking about the God of War: Ragnarok release date that hasn’t been released this week. Very funny.
