Nintendo Switch Catch-All 2.0

Yeah Genki was the one I was going to buy for work lunch Smash Bros. But then pandemic and no one goes to office anymore so I never got it. But they were the ones that figured out why other docks were bricking Switch systems so seemed to be the ones to trust.

My only hope is a Silksong release date, although I think that would be announced at a bigger Direct. I'd like something to start sparking my interest in the Switch again as it's seldom been used in the last year.

I haven't been playing my Switch much lately. Every time I think I'd like to I remember that it's down in the basement exercise room and I make the decision to leave it there. It's not that I don't want to go get it; I want to make it as easy as possible to choose to do Ring Fit Adventure when I get a window. Fortunately it's been more or less working and I'm actually getting in a few sessions a week.

Well, it’s nice that it was released as a video so I could skip through most of it.

Happy for those who have been waiting for Persona on Switch.

I got the new TMNT on Switch which has been great clearing a level for 5 minutes here and there. Perfect pick up and play

Blanc looks really interesting.

Monkey Island!

Thoughts on the mini direct:

I'm happy to see the Megaman Battle Network games coming for the Switch. I've seen people hold some of them up as absolute gems, but I never played them on the GBA and it's hard to go back to that system now. Looks like it's coming out for PC as well.

It's too bad they're releasing Live A Live a week before Xenoblade 3. Kind of feels like it's being treated like a super niche game that is just going to get buried. Oh well, it's on the wishlist and I'll get it when it gets cheaper.

Harvestella is giving me those Rune Factory vibes, especially since RF5 seems to have fallen pretty flat (especially compared to 4). Keeping an eye on this one, especially if the combat is any good.

And we were all right that Persona 5 would come to Switch. It just took longer than I thought. And P4 and P3 are coming too, which given the news they were coming to Game Pass felt like a foregone conclusion.

Little Noah Scion of Paradise launches today. Neat

That Disney Pixar game looks great. But I wonder how much game is there.

Wow a big mash up of game trailers near the end. No Man's Sky, Plague Tale (cloud), etc.

Portal collection today!

Harvestella looks like RPG with action battles (Tales, Xenoblade, etc.)

And Persona whee!

Finally

Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, And Persona 4 Royal Are Coming To Switch

https://www.nintendolife.com/news/20...

Persona has awoken – three iconic Persona games are coming to Nintendo Switch! Save others from distorted desires by donning the mask of a Phantom Thief in the critically acclaimed, genre-defining story of Persona 5 Royal, with previously released downloadable content included. Plus, there’s an urban legend that your soulmate might appear if you stare into a Nintendo Switch system on a rainy night ... in Persona 4 Golden. Unfamiliar stillness swallows the city, people turn into eerie coffins and otherworldly monsters called Shadows swarm in Persona 3 Portable, which also features alternate protagonist routes! All three games offer English and Japanese voice acting, full-HD graphics and are sold separately. Persona 5 Royal launches on Nintendo Switch on Oct. 21, and more information about Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable is coming soon. Get ready … the midnight hour approaches!

I might get P3P. Been long enough since I played P3 FES and the female MC would be fun I think.

I tell you, I was not sure I wanted to play more Mario & Rabbids until I saw that trailer / gameplay explanation. The free roaming turns system looks great. Reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles except it ditches enemy fire, which I think works in the way they are presenting it and leans into more of a go and have fun with this wacky world sort of style.

Also, they posted a Live A Live Treehouse video. I assume it was part of what they already agreed to before E3 fell through.

Looks like there's some depth to Harvestella. There is a job system for combat, which already puts it ahead of most of the farming games. And if the "character story" picture in their press release is anything to go by, there might be an equivalent of defined social links for some characters. And the artstyle isn't obnoxious.

Okay Harvestella, you have my attention.

So on the Dock I ended up getting this one and it seems to work great. It even fits inside the carrying case I got designed to hold the Switch with the Hori Split Pad Pro. I should be able to fit an HDMI cable in the case as well for a mostly self contained portable gaming solution that I can also hookup to the TV in hotels really easily.

That game looks so charming. I have had the English patched SNES repro on my list of repros to get for a while, but the graphics overhaul is really nice on the Switch version.

Very disappointed that Square Enix didn't announce the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters for Switch. It seems so weird that they are just on mobile and PC.

Thoughts on the mini direct

For myself, I think it mostly reinforced my feelings that my Switch is likely going to be a 1st party exclusive console as soon as my Steam Deck arrives. As far as I can tell, everything shown outside of Mario x Rabbids and Live A Live is or will be playable on the Steam Deck where it will run better and/or drop in price more quickly than on the Switch.

This Direct was probably fantastic for anyone with just a Switch, as there were some heavy hitting port announcements and a good variety of games shown. Nier Automata and the Personas in particular are big gets for Switch fans.

That was always going to be the case for people who bought a Steam Deck, though, I imagine. The Switch Lite is VERY small compared to the Steam Deck, so I'm going to keep playing these games on the Lite and enjoy the console for both 1st Party and these indie games.

…should I just bury any hope I have to ever have one console that plays both Mario on my TV and lets me voicechat with friends in some multiplayer game and not need a stupid Nintendo mobile phone app or to use Discord to do it? Nintendo seems to have the best gyro-aim technology but trying to use it to play any current modern shooter is far too tedious currently.

October 28th

I'm going to need some eShop sales on the first two to ever jump in.

Bayonetta 2 came with Bayonetta 1 as a download, IIRC. Or maybe that was just when it was first released?

Definitely for the WiiU version. I don't remember for the Switch.

I think that was a launch promo, and/or just with the physical release. I do seem to remember seeing Bayonetta 1 and 2 available separately in the eShop at a total price that was in the same ballpark as the physical 2 + download code for 1. I think their original intent was to sell a 1&2 bundle on store shelves but the fact that 1 was a download and not on the card made them change their messaging.

At launch Bayonetta 2 came on the cart and there was a code to download Bayonetta 1. I'm sure the price was $60.

Looking at Deku Deals, there hasn't really been much of any significant sales on those two games.

Yep only with physical release. And those have been sold out a long time. And Aristophan covered the sale history. I've been watching for years and they're not budging.

I want to play both Bayonetta 2 and 3 but the Switch just isn't where i go for fast action games. Looks like sh*t on the big TV, joycons are horrible for that kind of game (and yeah I've got a Pro controller but that means I'm only gonna be playing docked and the Switch is primarily a mobile device for me).

By the time we get PC ports I'll probably have lost interest entirely.

Again fixture S1 is the only way I play Switch handheld for years now. Joycons do suck yes

Considering Bayonetta 2 and 3 are published by Nintendo directly, I wouldn't be holding my breath on a PC port any time soon.
