Thats what I run with as well - I had an aerotech named shotgun drop at level 26 or so, which I used until late 40's - so much fun just using the autorun!

As far as shotgun perks, I took a cue from Veloxi and pretty much maxed out the AoE tree (except for the Mine skills buff), put a few into Ranged and starting to go heavy into Health since I'm playing on higher difficulty to keep the campaign from being too drab. Plus I'm usually in harm's way in order to ensure every enemy soaks up all of those shotty pellets!

Anyone have thoughts on where else to take the shotgun build beyond these perk trees?

I'm following the example of this guy, who's an expert:

I mean, this is level 129:

I think the most important strategy he's using is stacking vulnerability and vulnerability effectiveness. There's a pretty good article on it at https://mome-borogove.github.io/40k/20200714/vulnerability-is-undervalued.html. It will work with any weapon. At this point I've gotten each class to 100 and finished the "Complete 5 level 110 missions without dying" objective using that tactic. It will work better with weapons that can apply the stacks faster (it stacks up to 10, and will start to wear off after a few seconds).

It's interesting, shotguns are all physical damage, so the heat tree would normally be useless. It looks like he's using the heat-damage aura he's getting from the Psalm-Code Doctrine along with the skill in the heat tree that adds a vulnerability on crit to stack the vulnerability debuffs faster.

He's also using a bit of https://mome-borogove.github.io/40k/20200720/berserking-your-way-to-glory.html. I don't think it's necessary for <110, but focusing on synergies like Berserk or Enrage with crits definitely helps. I've done 118 on my Crusader using Enrage+crits, but it was a slog (118 is where you hit -99% damage dealt, everything above that is just more damage taken).

There are several other good resources at https://mome-borogove.github.io/.

Ohhh very nice resource, thank you!

The Prophecy DLC is on sale on Xbox. Worth it?

Yes, if you like summoner classes. Also it has a new campaign that ties into the Martyr campaign storyline.

Friends, even with the ongoing season, there's a new event called the Tainted VoidZone for your grinding needs.

And the game is once again on sale for $19.99 for the whole kit and kaboodle.

Definitely worth it at that price. So much to do!

D3 is so polished, so attractive, so satisfying... And so simple. Inquisitor is one of those games that has similar gameplay, but with so many more systems and variations and tons of procedural content. I view D3 as a gateway drug and the other top-tier ARPGs as the sort of beneficiaries of the groundbreaking done by the Diablo series.

Inquisitor is well worth your time if you like Diablo.

I am a casual player of D3 and Inquisitor. Inquisitor is a great change from D3 and worth the purchase IMO if you like these sort of games.

I am bummed that the new class "Adeptas Sororitas" is still TBD

I keep checking for it too!

Have put a little over 50 hours in. Having a blast with my Heavy Flamer build.

So thanks to the ongoing event, the season and plenty of XP boosters, I've gotten my first toon ever to level 70 today and also finished the Prophecy campaign for the first time ever. Very fun ride, and I love that they left it at a place where they could totally do more with it, or not.

I dunno how good that new upcoming class will be, but it'll take a lot to overcome the sheer joy I'm having with a shotgun assassin.

Woot! Great going, Veloxi!

The new season has begun!

Time to roll another shotgun Assassin! Yay!

Thanks for the reminder Spaceman Brian!

FOR THE EMPEROR

TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY.

Have a 76 Crusader Heavy Flamer and he is fun, fun, fun. Thinking about starting a new build, either a tech guy who summons (?) or maybe a Psyker who does AoE (poison?) for something different.

What would you all suggest?

I definitely don't want another Crusader linebacker. I may just keep grinding my original guy all the way to 100 because I'm 76+ hours in and still finding him fun.

Shotgun assassin. Always shotgun assassin.

The three base types of damage are physical, heat, and warp. Poison, burning, and bleeding are DOT effects that can get added on top of those.

I don't recall many options for poison with a psyker's basic skills (they seem mostly assassin-related), but there are certainly item enchants that can add it. I focused my psyker's damage/vulnerability item enchants on warp, but I also used fire attacks. Having multiple AOE DOTs would just murder anything trying to come after me.

The techpriest's constructs are usually do physical or heat damage. It may have just been my particular build, but I felt like I progressed slower at the highest levels (80+) with a tech-priest. It was very survivable, but mostly because I would run away while my constructs died, then re-summon them, and repeat until whatever boss was dead.

I had that problem with the constructs, Deftly, until I dumped points into the high-end ones and worked out which ones complement each other. Then it was smooth killing again. For the Emperor!

So the guy I linked to above, Judge Dredd, made some guide videos to help new players take the most advantage of the awesome shotgun.

I created a new seasonal character using the tips from the first video and my god does she slay.

Oh golly, a new season already?

D2:R has its icy hold on me already but maybe I'll just boot Martyr up for a few minutes and tool around?...

One of us...

It's funny I just got D2:R on sale on the Switch too.

Is D2:R good? People moan about the inventory system...
