Video Game Deals Catch-All

Some might not know this but netflix has games. To access the games you just need the netflix app on your mobile device. You get the games from google app store. I'm not sure if you can keep the games if you cancel your subscriptions.

They are also on iOS. The games log into your Netflix account and use your Netflix profiles so they know if you are still subscribed or not.

I have spent way way too many hours knitting outfits for my cat in Knittens. It’s not an amazing or unique game but it’s on my phone wherever I am and it’s good enough to distract me.

Dragon's Dogma x4
I love to buy it, but never finish it.

Free on Epic this week: Supraland

Free on Epic next week: A Game Of Thrones: The Board Game Digital Edition & Car Mechanic Simulator 2018

I had never heard of Knittens and holy crap my daughter is going to love this surprise. Thanks for mentioning it!

My phone just 'purred' at full volume at me while I was looking at my Man Eater achievements. Oddly terrifying. Remember to silence the Knittens notifications unless you want random purring to come from your pocket. Kisses, Rezzy.

To be honest that kinda sounds awesome.

Is this the cutesy NETFLIX game? Free to play?

Yes it’s a Netflix cutesy game. It’s not “free” because you need an active subscription to play.

I’ve never noticed if you could in fact pay real money to progress faster or get power ups. I’m only 400ish levels in but so far it doesn’t seem like it artificially holds back your progress to try to force you to pay to win.

Speaking of Netflix games, I've been playing Poinpy and it's a fun mobile game for when you just have a quick break.

Also, Grindstone launched on Steam and it's 40% off this week. I hope it works well on the Steam Deck because it's an awesome mobile/portable puzzle game.

I played Grindstone a bunch when I had Apple Arcade trial. Liked it. Depending on price I’d get it for Steam Deck.

Hmm what hoops to jump through for a badge this time?

Yeah, the Steam Summer sale started.

Meh. I miss when these were an EVENT. On the plus side it means there's great deals across all the sites all year round, but those Steam sales were a unifying situation.

Do we even have an individual thread any more? It doesn't feel like it even needs its own thread any more...

I don't think it needs its own thread. I can't think of the last time I got excited for a Steam sale. Before it was very exciting knowing the price of a game could drop to an absurdly low price at a moments notice. Now its entirely predictable and rarely are there ever any all-time lows worth mentioning. Kind of a bummer actually.

And we're off...off my wish list and onto my HD:

Just Cause 3XXL
Pit People
Transistor
Pyre
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Tesla For Science

Total- $30.81

Still looking for hidden gems for the Steam Deck...

Chooka1 does that Binding of Isaac Rebirth purchase get you Afterbirth+ and Repentance? This is the rare game that fundamentally got better with every expansion, each one woven into the main game rather than just adding on to the end like other games.

Rebirth alone is good, I put hundreds of hours into it, but I put a thousand hours into Afterbirth+ and hundreds more on the newest one, Repentance.

Still a trading card thread, for that part of the event. But it's ongoing.

I'm trying to play their game for this sale, but I can't get the page to display. Guess I'll have to wait for the site to settle down some.

Polypusher,

I just bought the base Afterbirth game but I believe the DLC is also on 50% sale.

I've only played the original Binding. If folks don't object, mind a very quick primer on what to buy and why? They are on sale so that may justify. I don't know how The Binding of Isaac fits together.

Thanks,
Chad

You basically just get it all, whatever you don't already own in the Rebirth Complete Bundle

I don't personally consider any of it to be optional. If you get into the game, you start wanting to beat all of the bosses with all of the characters because those lead to further item and character unlocks.

That level of devotion does require really enjoying the core game. When you start being able to win semi-consistently you can get a run down to 40-60 minutes. Since the gameplay is so varied due to the game changing items, it just doesnt get old, at least as far as I am concerned.

Isaac is my top played game on Steam with 1163 hours (and scores more uncounted on Switch, but switch can't handle the game) followed by Factorio at 911 and Kerbal Space Program at 762

Looks like an additional $20.54 for me to add ALL the DLC for Rebirth. I take it that's it all integrated into one Binding Game (Rebirth or Afterbirth if the name is changed) and that it is not too overwhelming for someone pretty new to the series? I know Binding is a legend so I am interested in giving it a fair shot.

The sale lasts for a bit. Give the core game a couple of tries and see if you think the gameplay is fun. If it is splurge for the whole shebang. You'll only have one game in your steam library to run. It appears as Binding of Isaac: Rebirth in my library.

Its definitely hard. The difficulty is fun for some, not fun for others. If you're finding you want to play again when you die, you're in good shape.

So Rebirth, Afterbirth, Afterbirth +, and Repentance are all needed? $28 for me. I might wait or just get Rebirth, but it's good to know that the expansions make the whole game better.

If anyone does care about the steam sale badge, here's the clues and categories where to find them.

The Grindstone demo seems to play well on deck. I'm playing using touchscreen controls.

Now I wish there was a way to port my progress from iOS.

Honestly, once I found out about isthereanydeal.com, all sales became...less important because even if I missed a deal on Steam, someone else is likely to run a sales deal.

And not only that, Steam often isn't necessary the greatest place to find deals.

Case in point - Chaos Gate Daemonhunters is 10% off on Steam, but I got it much cheaper on Fanatical when it came out (Fanatical has it at 27% off for anyone wanting to jump in).

I do miss the Steam sales threads though, if only for the fact Goodjers tend to draw attention to hidden gems!

Yeah I do most of my bargain-hunting on ITAD as well. It's an interesting question to ask, if I'd trade Steam refunds for more interesting Steam sales... I guess not, though it was kind of exciting to see what was new in each 8 or 12 hour period. But that also pushed back any actual purchases towards the end of the sale because it just might go on a better sale; that probably cost Steam a couple of sales that they would have made over the week but not all together at the end.

Right now Humble has a bundle with Talisman and all DLC for $11 minimum: https://www.humblebundle.com/games/c... . Thinking about this though I think my good memories of Talisman are mostly about playing with my friends and not the actual game, which on my ipad at least is slow and random. I haven't tried the 'Origins' solo-focused mode though.

Well... that was dull.
I don't know if the clues there helped but what I did was

Spoiler:

on the linked category scroll to the upcoming tab and just keep hitting Show More until the one that doesn't say Coming Soon or Preorder pops up. Sometimes it took a while, but I found all of them this way. Fun?
