The fact that triangle is at 4 o'clock and not 3 o'clock offends me.

Here in the U.S. where power folding mirrors are normally only found on luxury cars, and often don't come configured to fold when locking, I would add another slice 2-3 times the "minimize collision risk" slice that is "show off to car people who didn't know that was an option on my car" (it was never offered here).

themoreyouknow.jpeg

I had no idea, it's not standard over here but not considered a luxury car thing either. I've seen it on midrange brands like Peugeot, Citroen, Renault etc.

The mirrors on my car don't even fold in. I broke one of them because of this once

I guess this fits here since there are images

Seven Wonders of Middle-earth - Third Age

Argonath

The two enormous rock pillars were carved in the likenesses of the brothers Isildur and Anárion, who founded Gondor at the end of the Second Age and ruled it together (art by Armand Cabrera).

But the Pillars of Kings was not created until the 13th century of the Third Age, ca 1700 years before the LotR, as a warning to Northern peoples hostile to Gondor.

The Argonath was located above the fall of Rauros, on either side of Anduin, the Great River, that ran from the far North, and finally through Gondor into the sea.

Barad-dûr

The Dark Tower in Mordor was constructed in the Second Age, near Mount Doom and was the greatest fortress after the First Age (art by Roger Garland).

It was mostly demolished after Sauron's fall, that ended the Second Age. However, since it had been built with the aid of the One Ring, and the Ring remained, the tower's foundation could not be destroyed.

Sauron returned to Mordor in 2951 of the Third Age, and rebuilt Barad-dûr. It is described as a fortress, armoury, prison, and furnace, which suffered no rival, secure in its pride and its immeasurable strength. It stood on a mountain spur and seemed to beholders incredibly tall.

Caras Galadhon

At the heartland of Lothlórien was Caras Caladhon, its capital and fortress. It lay upon a green hill, surrounded by a fosse and a green wall; the name itself may translate as "moated fortress of the trees"

Here thronged the golden mallorn-trees and these were taller than elsewhere seen in the land. Permanent homes in trees was a custom uniqe to the Elves of Lórien, and Caras Galadhon was the only place where such dwellings were numerous; most notably the home of Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel, who settled there after year 1981 of the Third Age (art by trueping).

Minas Tirith

The fortress Minas Anor ("Tower of the Sun") was constructed at the end of the Second Age. It became Gondor's capital in the 17th century of the Third Age, and was rename Minas Tirith ("Tower of the Guard") sometime after 2002.

It lay on the Hill of Guard, with seven concentric tiers cut on the hill. The outer, nearly invulnerable wall was black, as the tower in Isengard, while each tier was divied by walls and gates, these were not aligned to make it harder for an attacker.

At the top, 700 feet above the plain below, lay the Citadel and the Tower of Ecthelion; the latter added another 300 feet to the City's height. A vast pier of rock from the seventh level bisected all city levels to the second (art by ralphdamiani).

Orthanc

At the end of the Second Age did the Dúnedain of Gondor build the circle of Angrenost, called Isengard by other Men, where they made the Pinnacle of Orthanc. Meaning Mount Fang it was composed of four welded pillars of many-sided stone, and reached just over five hundred feet.

The gleaming, black stone was unbreakable, and it seemed a thing not made by the craft of Men, but riven from the bones of the earth in the ancient torment of the hills.

Isengard was a beautiful place, and the tower was used to study stars, but Orthanc stood long unused when in 2759 the Wizard Saruman was given the keys of the tower. After 2953 did Saruman begin to fortify Isengard again (art by Ted Nasmith).

At least it took 220 years for pugs to lose their noses.

At this rate, those poor anime girls are going to have concave noses in less than 40 years.

And their eyes will take 90% of their faces.

Janelle Shane is an AI expert and writer. She made DALL-E2 generate brand logos by giving it prompts like "The local Waffle House", "The Pizza Hut logo", etc. These are some of the results. Shalalm baskur!

Belo Becao is pretty good too!

The New Yorker had an amazing piece on the rivalry between NOUN and NOTNOUN.

I won't be surprised if I find myself saying "Belco Tab" at some point.

Some friends of mine ate at one that had a malfunction in one of the Fs and the U, so it looked like:
WA FLE
HO SE.

We called it "Wayful Hose" for years.

That Waffle House telling you FU and you still ate there? Brave!

Those letters were dark, so really that's the one thing they weren't saying...
