Spoiler:

Nailed this one. Trey Lance gave me "NFC West QB with a jersey number below 5 and is not close to 6-foot-4" => Kyler Murray

Spoiler:

I started with Minshew (I've just been scrolling the list an indeterminate number of times then picking a name wherever I land) which narrowed it to NFC QB under 5'11". Pretty sure Kyler is the only option.

Spoiler:

He's almost the only option all-time that fits the criteria: NFC QB under 5'11"

Of the 32 QBs who are 5-10 or shorter in the PFR/StatHead database, 29 played before the 1970 merger, so the NFC didn't exist.

The three remaining players did all play in the NFC:

Joe Hamilton, 2000 Buccaneers. 1 game, 0 pass attempts. 3 handoffs, 1 sack-fumble, 1 kneeldown

Doug Flutie, 1984-85 Bears. 5 games, 1 start. 46 total pass attempts.

And then, Kyler Murray.

Spoiler:

Saquon Barkley gives you that it's an NFC running back that's over 6'1". Only running back I can think of that would be 6'2" is the one that's just pretending to be a running back because he was a sh*t receiver.

This is the best when it's a weird edge case like the last two have been.

Was not expecting my third guess to be correct. I was just trying out some possible letter positions.

Spoiler:

Getting the E in the first guess screwed me up, because if I had a full whiff, I would have used POINT as my follow-up, and that would have gotten me a lot farther along.

Spoiler:

I need to stop using Trey Lance as an opener. Lance is too young, too tall, and too low a jersey number. Everyone is older and shorter and, except Kyler yesterday, has a higher jersey number.

Yuck. I resorted to looking up a word list for this. Knowing only those two letters wasn’t getting me anywhere.

I hate getting the ending "E" locked in my first guess. Constraining without eliminating enough in return.

Spoiler:

JImmy G => taller younger AFC QB => Mahomes => even taller AFC QB that's same age but with jersey number higher than 15 => Josh Allen.

Same age part made me think of his fellow 2017 draft class guys: Trubisky and the serial sex offender. Took me a sec to realize what I needed was someone that came out as an underclassman the year before.

Never had that happen before, where to get from the second to last guess to the answer I just had to flip the position of two letters.

Spoiler:

Got A and T from the first guess, and the next guess pretty much told me that it had to be "AT" at the end, and I eliminated enough high value letters that I figured on FLOAT, GLOAT, or SQUAT. Pure luck I guessed the right one of the three.

Jimmy G was a whiff, so I chose my go-to short AFC RB Devin Singletary, which told me it was a 22 year old AFC RB with probably a 30s jersey number. Javonte.

Jimmy G => NFC non-West non-QB that's 6'2" and over 30. Assumed it wasn't Cordarrelle Patterson again so soon, so it had to be a WR. I kept getting stuck on Randall Cobb, but knew he was too short. Likewise with DeSean, while A.J. Green was too tall and in the West. Took me a long time to come around to Thielen. I forget he's that old, because he didn't start until 2016 but he was a UDFA back in 2013.
