A Genie Appears. You Can Get a Sequel to Any Game But...

Street Fighter VI as an open-world 3d brawling and exploration game.

Holy crap what have I done...

A monkey paw curls...

Now do that Kingdom Hearts Tactics game from above!

Also, how can people find these old necro threads? I was looking for 15 minutes for the Dragon Age 4 thread I thought I made and gave up and made a new one.

In this instance I searched for "Street Fighter VI" (with the quotes) and this was the only thing that came up. I figured that not many people would be talking about that in threads this old. That was after I went through several fruitless iterations that included the word sequel. So maybe try searching for a word or phrase that made the thread memorable? Granted that's easier for a thread like this than it is for a specific game's catch-all...

Dawn of War 2 Retribution
But its an rpg

And if that is not enough, its turn based:

I enjoyed the first Pathfinder game but haven't played the latest. Hope they do well with the GW IP.

It does sound a bit wacky though - how do they get a Space Marine to party up with an Aeldari??

Anyway, with the latest experience of Chaosgate I have hopes that developers can do good things with GW IP.

Guilleman is back and is less intolerant. I think it is Games Workshop pushing back on the fascists.

Their Pathfinder games are solid! I'm very eager to see what they do with a new system.

Four Star Wars games came instantly to mind:

KotOR I/II but as action RPG's.
Force Unleashed as a turn-based RPG similar to KotOR I/II.
Squadrons as anything interesting either a space simulator akin to Freespace2, or something a little more arcadey like Freelancer.

Squadrons in the vein of Rebel Galaxy would be awesome! (more frigate/destroyer based space shooter with AI fighter escorts)
KOTOR a la Diablo 3 would rock as well. (different type of jedi classes, customizable droids for companions)

Interstate 76 as an arpg.

It would be like the mmo auto assault minus the horrible crafting system. Google search found this Gun Road on steam.

Well that looks terrific. Nice find!

Mass Effect, the turn-based fleet tactics game

Half-Life 3: Total War.

Seriously how has there not been a Jedi Council game where you send out Jedi and Padawans on missions and level them up while upgrading your base? It's basically XCOM2 with lightsabers.

Oh man... I can see it now. 99% chance to hit with Jedi knight reflexes, and I still miss.

Jokes aside, I'd definitely play it. Especially if it were set closer to the Old Republic era and not the Empire or First Order timelines.

Yeah, I'd play that and I couldn't give two sh*ts about anything Star Wars.

Midnight Suns has me in the same boat - if I never experience another Marvel property ever again, that's just dandy with me, but shove that Jake Solomon-helmed XCOM needle right into my vein!

I assume Disney would find that antithetical to the Jedi brand, but you could turn it around, controlling the inquisitors hunting the remaining Jedi.

That said, I’ve fallen so far off of Star Wars fandom at this point that it’d have to be a game made by a team with a track record for me to even be interested in the first place. The XCOM team is a good call. I’d also take a look at something by the Phoenix Point or Gears Tactics teams, even if those games didn’t quite do it for me.

Wasn't there a close-in small squad Star Wars RTS in the works at one point? Seems like I remember something that was set during the Clone Wars where you controlled a squad of Clone Troopers, but I don't think it was ever released (that or just a fever dream of mine).

Jagged Alliance 2, but it's a hyper-polished Ubisoft-style open-world third-person shooter like the Ghost Recon games.

The Division?

Given there's some interest in Rogue Trader, here's an interview: from RPS with the devs.

Party of 6 confirmed!

Xenos companions (for now only Eldar sniper) confirmed!

Can play Renegade Heretic side confirmed!

Nvm

I posted in the Pathfinder thread that I bought the $99 founder's pack with alpha access to Rogue Trader.

A remake of Baldur's Gate I in Baldur's Gate III setting (and systems) - or one of the more up to date Obsidian/Owlcat engines.

Is the jump from Advanced D&D 2nd Edition to D&D 5th Edition big enough to qualify as a different genre?

Only half joking.

D&D seems like it is a case of "there and back again"
2e and 5e are simple(r)
3e and 3.5e are much more complex

Make a sequel to Dawn of War 2 (3 was a mess), that includes all the factions from DoW1.

Wow, I forgot about this thread. Looks like the genie smiled on me too:

1. XCOM 2 as a grand strategy game ala Paradox. Imagine what the Council must be up to in the background - using diplomacy to keep countries in the fight against the aliens, deploying conventional militaries against other countries that have gone rogue, using spies to identify EXALT and alien sympathisers, and when all else fails, deploying XCOM as its magic bullet. Wouldn't that be cool?

… and that’s Terra Invicta.

Some that I thought of while waiting:

Into the Breach, but it's a traditional CRPG about the people who invented the world-hopping tech.

Phoenix Point, but it's an FPS where you play a member of the Phoenix Point tac team.

Prey, but it's a squad-based tactical game like XCOM where you assemble a whole team of typhon hunters.

Slay the Spire, but it's a single-player over-the-shoulder RPG like Kingdoms of Amalur or Fable and you're still trying to take down the spire, you just get mixed up in spire faction politics and survival along the way to the heart.

Dishonored, but it's a grand strategy/kingdom management game where you guide a nation-state in that setting.

The Last Spell, but it's a Banner Saga-influenced CRPG where you play an itinerant group of heroes trying to slip through the ruined world to help the various cities succeed and share knowledge.
