LEGO Nostalgia

I could almost buy my own ship for that price.

Yeah, but who's gonna build it? You?

The XL-15 Spaceship ticks off all the boxes for what I want in a Lego spaceship- nice angles, cool looks, swooshable.

The fact that it comes with a stand and additional hairpieces for all 3 minifigs for when they have their helmets off is completely extra.

I'm wishing for the day they officially bring back the classic space series so we could get more sets like this with the classic blue/grey colors and classic space logo.

Spoiler:

sh*t that looks cool.

It would be instant buy if it came with the trailer.
But yeah, looks neat.

Not really into that stuff, but I would buy that spoiler.

A Lego BD-1. Aka your droid companion in Jedi: Fallen Order. I love that they're leaning into a videogame for a set (now gimme Zelda please...).

This set looks wonderful in person, and now my wife really wants it.

My childhood love got rekindled lately.

My GF brought me back a Lego London Bus when she returned from a holiday at home and as I put it together I remembered that I fricken LOVE building Lego.

The tactile + concentration thing was soooo soothing. So I bought myself the X-15 based on the picture in this thread as well as the Moon Lander. I am saving them though. There often times where my family will make me hyper stressed and having them ready to sooth myself will be good.

This was a huge benefit I got out of return to Lego, honestly. Same thing with Transformers (I keep a couple around my desk and transform them back and forth). Just keeping your brain active, having something tactile to work with and not have it be a screen.

I hope by "Moon Lander" you mean the LEM and not one of the newer base modules (which are fine tho). The LEM is one of my favorite builds, full of interesting angles and details. Just beautiful.

If not, take a look.

The Apollo 13 LEM comes with syphilis, so wash your hands afterward.

Your.... Hands?

What else are you using to assemble it with?!

Oh, sweet summer child...

Exactly that one.

It's so good!

Kit bashed a thing.

Mainly took my Poe X-Wing polybags from Ep 7 and 9 (shown below) and a few extra pieces...

And made an X-Wing that looks like the Black Paladin from Voltron would use if he was giving the Lion a rest.

From this angle it looks like a Starfury.

Starfury?

I loved B5 back in the day, but I haven't watched it for years and completely forgot about them. May be time to try to make one out of loose pieces.

End derail.

Are you me?!

Seriously, I just returned to Lego about two weeks ago. It was actually a "homework assignment" from my therapist (that's a longer story) to just pick up a set that appealed to me and let myself be absorbed in the peaceful focused enjoyment that I used to get from this in my youth.

I spent two weeks "window shopping" online (which was part of the enjoyment for me long ago) and ended up going with the recent Mercedes Speed Champions set. Was a very fun and relaxing build, and has rekindled my love of the hobby.

Now I have a medium-size Technic car waiting to be built and a Horizon Tallneck on order. Pandora's Box has been opened!

Just announced and instantly pre-ordered by me: LEGO Galaxy Explorer set 10497.

Shipping around August 1st. Can't wait!

I came back to Lego after a particularly traumatic period of time, after my nervous system went sideways in Australia and my mom passed away. I also found the tactile nature of working with building things to be very soothing.

Not for nothing, but I also picked up modern Transformers after the pandemic started and found transforming them back and forth while I worked to be really soothing for similar reasons.
