[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

I'm saying that the vast majority of firearm deaths are caused by handguns, not assault weapons.

The graph you replied about is of mass shootings, not total firearm deaths. Per its source data, roughly half of the attacks used firearms other than handguns.

Homophobic slurs are not acceptable. That they were being used to make a point does not change that such language is not permitted on GWJ.

I watched Scanners last night. I know how that scene ends.

If anything says America, that is it. Perhaps the only thing that would make it more American is if the date was July instead of June ;P

Why conceal the name of those sh*ts?

I love how Republicans always shift the blame. sh*tty economy during Trumps reign? Obama's fault not anything that Trump is doing. Current sh*tty economy, must be Biden's fault and not the current global crisis!

13 plus benefits does not equal 16 an hour. No wonder you have to raise prices if you're so sh*tty at math, owner.

The current U.S. housing crisis is caused by government policy and lack of control. The current U.S. inflation crisis is caused by companies testing to see how inelastic demand is and raising pricing as far as they can while using the pandemic and inflation as marketing PR. The media needs to stop buying into the narrative of 'inflation' and start calling it price-gouging and talk more about rising profits every time they talk about rising prices.

Biden and the democrats could do something about the housing crisis any time they want and they just aren't. Raising borrowing rates isn't going to stop it. I *do* blame them for this. Still better than the alternative...

And maybe a gun.

Had a thought as I read this, that news media may be specifically disincentivized to do this by either being owned by large corporations or being beholden to corporate ad sponsors. Each of which is in itself a large root of many problems.

I mean, even the "benefits" in question are astonishingly vague:

"Good salary" (maybe for salaried employees? not for hourly tho)
"Paid sick time (w/doctor's note)" (how much? 1 day per year?)
"Gift card raffles" ($2 gift cards to your own restaurant with newly inflated prices?)
"Free snacks" (no limit?)
"Pay increase (up to) $0.50 per year!" (so you could get $0.01, but no chance of getting $1. Also, amusingly, they forget "per hour" so maybe they just hand you a couple of quarters for Christmas?)

And finally:
"Supportive work environment" (The entire rest of the page puts the lie to that one)

Also note that "employer-sponsored health insurance" is conspicuously absent.

Raising interest rates in an economy that's controlled almost entirely by oligopolies will actually increase inflation, because it's just another cost that will be passed on to the consumers, not eat into the profits.

You're not an epic ultimate final looter if you convince your marks to willingly hand over 10% of everything they make.

You're an epic ultimate final grifter.

If you've ever been to Rome the amount treasure in a random corner church rapidly becomes appalling.

I find this "save our democracy" stuff really weird and histerical. The 2020 election had the highest voter turnout since 1900, with a roughly even split between the two candidates. That's not how broken democracies work.

How do broken democracies work? In 2018 Putin got 78% if the 'votes" "cast".

The democracy is not broken, the running for office is.

Except the losing candidate tried to steal the election. And he had half of his party in Congress still try to say the results weren't valid on Jan 6, after they had all just been terrorized by the mob he sent to hang the vice president.

And since then state Congresses with GOP majorities have added laws that they can overturn votes and send new electors, like traitor Ginny Thomas was asking Arizona to do in 2020.

So yeah we're on the brink. If GOP loses again they'll try to say they didn't and poof, no more democracy if they get away with it.
