Random thing you loathe right now.

Yeah, I'm definitely on edge these days. My cancer, work bullsh*t, my wife's new cancer, son's cancer scare, ADT treatment effects which include depression, etc, etc. Sorry that you were the target of that EvilHomer3K. The OCD/ADHD combo also has its effects, but I should know by now to hesitate before posting when I have a strong reaction, but I didn't. That's on me, not you.

Sorry.

That's a lot to deal with, really sorry for all you're going through, Robear.

Second loathe, my clinic apparently doesn't trust an at home test and want me to come in to test(to expose others?) to potentially prescribed the antiviral.

Fun!

Ours said they only have one course of antivirals on hand and are saving it for a really serious case. And then a few days later we found out that the clinic one town over has plenty and has been prescribing it without a big hassle.

So we're recovering on our own, the old-fashioned way.

In themselves these things are loathes, Chairman. Together, I'm not sure what the term is but I'm trying to carry it gracefully. Obviously, that does not work all the time.

Thanks for the compassion though.

My fortune cookie was a crypto ad. I also have a flu. Not covid but still sucks.

I discovered where all the hair on my head has been going.

MY F*CKING BACK!!!

Not just a strand or two.

A MF'ING PELT!!!

Just tell people you're growing an Über-Mullet.

I have grey hair similar to how Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic is pictured.
Where is all of the other grey/white hair growing?

Out the side of anywhere on my head that would be weird. Random eyebrow hairs anywhere near my eyebrows, random side-of-my-ear hairs, random nose hair that would like to be 3x normal length. Waiting to see where else it tries...

Did anyone really think the human body was good enough to ship or did they hit the marketing deadline and just ship as is?

Both. It's definitely good enough to ship, given it's monopoly, but there's still a lot in the backlog that won't ever be added to the next sprint. You just know the Product Owner won't see the value in it.

Human bodies are procedurally generated and sometimes you just end up with a bad or strange seed.

There are still bad design decisions from the start, though. We all shipped with an appendix: something that at best is redundant and at worst will randomly malfunction, killing the host. I'm sure it was a good idea at the time.

It's possible that the appendix is a "seed library" of gut bacteria, to reboot the gut flora after a gastrointestinal illness depletes it.

To be fair, we're all using them long after their intended design life has expired.

Maaaaaybeee... Evolution keeps stuff around for multiple reasons.

Apple devices.

I have an iMac that I use at work - and, to be fair, it's a fabulous machine that has kept on trooping for seven years or so. But it's been slowing down in the last year, and I know it's because the HDD is degrading. It's got to the point where it absolutely needs to be replaced - but, of course, Apple have made it almost impossible to get the machine open without causing irreparable damage. Because why would you spend less than $100 to fix your computer instead of buying a whole new one for $2,000 just because the hard drive is old?

I installed an external hard drive instead, and that works. Except guess what doesn't work now? My wireless mouse. Apparently, this is common thing with Macs: plug in an external drive, and wireless peripherals start acting weird. Why? F*** you, that's why. Bear in mind the only way I could use the (Logitech) mouse in the first place was by downloading a third-party script, since the scroll wheel wouldn't work properly - another common Apple "feature", from what I've read.

To compound matters, my wife's iPhone stopped working this weekend. Just refused to turn on. She took it to the Apple store, and they didn't even attempt to fix it. Just, "LOL, you need a new one!"

Apple makes quality stuff, to be sure, but screw them for making it as difficult as humanly possible to ever repair anything.

I'm having iPhone woes too. My mother's screen was cracked and we're looking at £140 to get it replaced, assuming there aren't other issues. I think of it as a safety device for her (along with the Watch) so I'm trying to get it done as quickly as possible, rather than looking for the cheap and slow.

It might end up making more sense to buy a new phone.

I just spent eight hours on a single line of code. I want to set something on fire.

Living in a house with three family members who will cry, scream, whine, or ask, "Where are you going? Are you coming back?" nearly every time I leave the room. I love them all, but being everyone's cuddle/play/conversation buddy is a lot sometimes.

My boss's husband collapsed a few weeks ago doing yard work. Shortly thereafter, he was diagnosed with liver cancer. Yesterday, they were told it's too far along to do anything, and he's got about 3 months.

I know most people don't have much of a relationship with their boss, but she has been not only incredibly kind, but also generous as a boss in pretty much every way anyone could ask. I honestly don't know what to do other than offer sympathy.

For me, I've always worked to remember that the people you work for are people. They like praise and relaxing conversation as much as the next person in the office, but they have far fewer peers. Sometimes just offering sympathy and an ear is very helpful. Our office will also sometimes get together and chip in on a food delivery gift card, send flowers, that sort of thing. Sometimes people will even deliver home-cooked food.

A heart-felt letter from her employees would mean a whole lot as well.

If there is anything that can be done to reduce her workload so she can spend more time at home.

Offers to take care of housework, yardwork, groceries, etc...

Just make sure you’re putting on your own mask, chief. Taking your own time, whatever that looks like, will help everybody else by making you able to also give your time.

Well that lasted a whole ten minutes.

I only have one that is like that, but we're in day 3 of a 7 day covid isolation and I am almost tearing my hair out.

I feel you here. I am the peace maker in our house between everyone and am in demand from the moment i get up till I go to bed. Mixed in with a full time job and its a lot. Try and look after yourself as much as possible.

Thanks all. Plenty of room in this boat, as long as you're not too chatty.

Was in the emergency room for the past 3 days. First I started peeing fireballs, which is really bad if you can't stop peeing. Then stomach when to hell.. Then I couldn't stop throwing up. Projectile vomit is a real thing. The only good thing is my amazon packages weren't stolen.

Now I have a bunch of stuff to take including insulin but isn't really that bad Needle in the gut or thigh. It doesn't feel any worse than taking my blood sugar.

Geez, Baron, I hope you have it under control. Get well soon!

I loathe that worldwide pro-motoring propaganda is so bad that it makes motorists believe that only motoring should be occurring on roads and anyone else not on a motor vehicle is fair game to murder.
