Most Chaotic Racing Games?

So I recently began to play Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, and I absolutely love it. I realized something as I played it: My favorite racing games are those that are the most violent and chaotic. So far I’ve played and enjoyed (beyond Motorstorm):

  • Wreckfest
  • Test Drive: Eve of Destruction
  • The Flatouts
  • The Burnouts
  • The Carmageddons
  • Split/Second
  • Bloody Rally Show
  • Death Rally
  • Gas Guzzlers Extreme
  • Road Redemption

So are there other chaotic, violent racing games I’ve not yet played that I should?

Thanks for your time!

Rollcage was my favorite one of the sort of actiony racers back in the day, it went by largely unnoticed by most folks though.

I believe there's a current sort of spiritual successor called Grip, but I've not actually played enough of it to say if it lives up to the old one. I played it very early in early access and it was pretty rough, no idea how it shaped up.

I had a lot of fun with Dirt Showdown, but if I remember correctly it mixed normal races with demo derby races, so maybe not quite as 'chaotic and violent' as the others.

Oh I'll keep an eye out for Rollcage on eBay.

I played Dirt Showdown but it just seemed like a wannabe Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. I should give it another shot though and judge it on its own merits.

Thank you guys!

Rollcage was superb for it's day, it didn't get anywhere near the success it deserved. I either bought it or rented it out of my local video store, racing on the ceilings of tunnels felt so fresh back then.

Doing more research, I’d forgotten there was a Blizzard game called Rock N’ Roll racing, which looks promising. There’s also a sequel called Red Asphalt that looks VERY promising.

Blur? Kind of a cart racer but felt different.

Pure? I think the same team as Split Second?

Grid isn’t exactly what you were looking for but I enjoy it as an arcady, chaotic racer.

Thank you for reminding me I own all of those for the PS3! Not even sure I've played them! Thanks!

ROAD RASH

Blur was my favourite on 360 but it was in multiplayer the true chaos was unleashed

WHY ARE WE YELLING?

Yeah sadly that's not an option anymore.

Also there's like 8 Road Rash games. Which would you recommend?

Road Rash is also what I thought of when I saw the thread title

Which one should I seek out though?

Probably none of them! I havent played one since the 1st and maybe 2nd one in the 90s, not sure what they've done with the series but I do remember a juvenile joy at kicking a competitor's bike into a roadsign or something.

I think it does 4-player split screen?!

Oh it does look at that! Time to get two more PS3 controllers.

So would you recommend Road Redemption instead?

Are the Burnout games in the vein of what you're looking for? Burnout Paradise is my jam, but Burnout Revenge and Burnout 3 are really good too.

Yup, I own and have played all the Burnouts. Takedown and Revenge are the best I think.

Road Redemption is a competent modern-day retread of classic Road Rash. Solid 6/10, not gonna blow your socks off but tickles the nostalgia bone

What if one doesn't have nostalgia because one has never played Road Rash?

How important is your socks being blown off?

The 3do version is the best one.

VERY important!

Okay great, I'll seek the PS1 version then, which is a port of the 3DO version. Thank you!

Then you have my official blessing to skip it.

Qvadriga? The sequel to which is now in development?

So today I was playing Pacific Rift, and the level I was on reminded me of Star Wars: Racer a lot. So I loaded up Racer's Revenge (which I feel is the better game of the two) and wow the chaos! So fun! I think the two Star Wars: Racer games definitely qualify.

Are those racing games or strategy games with racing elements?

Hey, you said you wanted chaos and racing. Ain't get much more chaoticly racing than Qvadriga, which is totally a chaotic-racing-themed strategy game.

Heh, not unfair.

Once upon a time (1998) I was in love with Dethkarz. I don't know how it's held up, but it was an awesome game back in the day. Really good racing rewarding good racing lines and speed control combined with decent pew pew fighty stuff.
