Scott Thompson tweeted that Amazon will let them know next week whether the Kids in the Hall return will get renewed, so everyone go watch it this weekend and maybe we’ll get to see the rest of them naked.

I never watched the original KitH, but I've always heard good things about it. And with less than 10 minutes into the first of the new episodes on Amazon, I already regret my decision, and eagerly look forward to watching the rest.

Watched Beyond the Infinite Two Minutes which was a lot of fun. Japanese film where a guy who runs a cafe finds out the computer monitor in his apartment upstairs is showing him the 2 minutes in to the future of the monitor in the cafe downstairs. So he's in the apartment and also downstairs in the cafe (2 minutes in to the future) having conversations with himself.

Things get really wild when his friends get involved. They make really good use of the time discrepancy for the story and its a lot of fun. The characters also do a very good job of explaining how the time thing works as they're trying to figure it out with the viewer.

It's a small budget film. The cast has a lot of chemistry and the whole thing is fun natured. Reminds me a bit of One Cut of the Dead.

Putting the trailer below but best to go in to this one not knowing much and just enjoying it.

I like this book series. Kind of started like a Reacher type story in the first book, but each successive book has a different theme (at least as far as I've read). Less Reacher formulaic plot. The specific book the show is based on is about institutional betrayal and revenge after great loss.

It will be violent like the Reacher series I suspect. I heard an interview with the author that said some of the scenes in the book he was wondering if they would be allowed to do in the series made it through. Amazon had some questions about stuff, but when they talked them out, about everything he wanted in made it.

Two episodes in and I am LOVING IT! Pretty much the same dumb, silly, light-hearted, weird tone of the original show, but the jokes are all old people related, and I am here for it.

This makes me feel better because after the mess that Without Remorse became i wasn't sure they'd be able to do this one justice.

He did an interview on youtube with Ray Porter that narrates the audiobooks. I think that may have been where I heard him say that. Or it might have been somewhere else he was Jack Carr was interviewed. He's doing a lot of promo for the new book right now.

I was trying to remember what scene he may have been concerned about. Been awhile since I read the first book. Got a couple of guesses, but am not certain.

Caveat the whole thing with Carr not having experience with what makes a good TV show. Often authors don't like the transition to screen, and he seems pretty happy. Just ask King about The Shining.

But yeah, we don't want Without Remorse. Although I am enjoying the Jack Ryan show, even if it's been updated from the source material.

Yea i'm happy with Jack Ryan series. They've attempted to stay true to the source even with their changes. WR seemed to try to make something completely different with theirs.

Spoiler:

I assume the death of his child, and of course the torture scenes.

Those were my initial thoughts. IIRC, there is scene with a general in his office that might be one of those violent scenes? I looked for a recap to refresh my mind and can't find one.

Not certain whether it’s a recent addition but I just noticed that the 2010 Kids in the Hall miniseries Death Comes to Town is available. It’s a deeply weird small-town murder mystery with the Kids playing all the main characters. Not all the jokes hold up but it’s a must see if you’re a fan.

Do we need a separate thread for hidden gems of Freevee (formerly IMDbTV), or can we continue effusing praise for Bosch: Legacy here? Season 1 wrapped up tonight on a cliffhanger, and I figuratively cannot wait for season 2 to see what happens.

Oh was that the end of the season? Dang. I did enjoy the season. Its definitely more of the same with a smaller cast, and I appreciated the handful of cameos. There's a handful of clumsy bits, like flashing back to Afghanistan for 2 minutes just to set up a mild torture scene so it seems less out of character (just make him more pissed off about that guy getting popped) but overall it was enjoyable.

I can see a point where Bosch's 'too cool and competent' shtick getting old, but its been a lot of seasons of that and Im still tuning in.

Really enjoyed nightsky. JK simmons crushing it as always.

The Boys Season 3 starts off strong. This season is definitely going some weird places.

Thought it was good but nothing more. Several great ideas but none of them really developed in this season. Also, JKS aside, thought the acting very poor.

Sissy Spacek was also amazing. The neighbors were on the light side, but thought the rest was ok.

They definitely haven't eased up on the squick factor. It is still awesome.

Finished Night Sky, and really liked it. Its plot moves very slowly at times, but it was handled really well so I didn't mind. It was slow, but deliberately and confidently so, so it was never just meandering aimlessly or padding the runtime. The pacing could definitely turn off some people off who don't want to wait to find out what's going on though.

It's really hard not to compare it to Outer Range since both released on the same service so close to each other. I liked Night Sky a lot more than I did Outer Range. I think it handled the mystery of its sci-fi element a lot better, the characters were all a lot more likable, less prone to dumb decisions, and generally had better and clearer motivations for it when they did make a wrong decision.

I hope that ends up in Kripke's house. Maybe as a slide down into his pool.

Hacks Series 2 is out and we are still very much enjoying it.

Just finished the Wheel of Time. Wow, they really changed things dramatically from the books, didn't they?

I'm not sure if I like the changes or not.

I'll be really interested to see what a season looks like without COVID and a main actor suddenly leaving most of the way through mucking up their plans.

I enjoyed it more than most, but yeah. Definitely has its problems.

Apparently he was fired because he refused to get vaccinated. So, f*ck that guy.

Allegedly, according to an anonymous "insider." So who knows, and honestly, who cares.

It won't matter, they've shifted so far away from the main story that everyone should just get used to the idea this is a different version or telling of the story.

The Aiel battle was well done, IMO. Really showed how deadly they can be.

Everyone should have gotten used to that idea (or not, and just skipped the show) anyway, before the show ever started. There was no way that a fifteen-book series was ever going to get a slavishly faithful adaptation.

My hope isn't that it suddenly starts hewing closer to the source material, because that's just plain not going to happen. It's that it starts being a better and more consistent storytelling experience overall.
