Hidden Gems of Netflix's Watch Instantly

So TMNT made a lot of money but family watch groups said it was too violent. So in response, when they made Secret of the Ooze, they didn't allow any of the turtles save Donnie to use their weapons. Once you see it, you can't unsee it.

Watched Bubble not to be confused The Bubble which came out about the same time. This movie looks good and has great music. The story is pretty lacking. The movie has heavy references to the original little mermaid story and outside of that nothing really make sense in the movie.

Wasn't this a black mirror episode? Also reminds me I need to finish Devs.

Very late to the series but I tried watching Another Life and that has got to be the worst sci-fi show I have ever seen. Certainly it's the worst one I ever tried to watch on Netflix. I barely made it through the first episode and just couldn't watch anymore after someone opened up their helmet on an unknown alien planet just because their visor was getting slightly foggy. I couldn't even hatewatch it, hoping for them to die from their own stupidity.

Love Death + Robots
Exit Strategies

I liked this episode. The episode is a continuation of one of the episodes from season one. Animation was great and story was okay. Basically three robots visits different human sites and see how they survived. Heavy on messaging

Ending

Spoiler:

The cat is back and I was expecting that.

Love Death + Robots
Bad Traveling

Another one with good animation. This one is a little over 20 minutes so twice as long as usual episode. This might be the most scary horror episode yet.

Spoiler:

Nice giant crab monster. Show had a lovecraft feel to it may his soul rot it hell.

I think they made a mistake in the story. The gun he had can only shoot one bullet at a time. He should have had to powder and pack it for each shot. So he should have lost all his power over the crew after the first shot or any shot. Well I guess since there is talking giant crab they can live in a universe where this time period had different gun tech. Or maybe they did have revolvers in that time period.

Really liked this one.

i love them all. Jibaro is brilliant though!

Yeah S3 was excellent overall, although I felt one or two let them down but I cannot remember the names.

Love Death + Robots
The Very Pulse of The Machine

Really liked this one. A different form of animation was used that reminded me of Heavy Metal. Nice use of music and the story was trippy.

Spoiler:

Two explorers have a accident on one of the moons of Jupiter, IO. One explorer dies and the other one gets her suite damaged. The survivor is forced take the oxygen from the dead crewmate but in so doing is also forced to drag her dead body to a remote site.

So during the trip the survivor starts going crazy. She keeps thinking the dead crewmate is talking to her. To make things worse she is running out of air and might not make it back in time.

After seeing a bunch of crazy things that might just be in her mind she learns the planet is talking to or she has gone bat S insane. The planet is a in fact a giant machine. It tells her it was built to learn about her. The planet also tells her to throw herself over a cliff into a pool of something in order to merge with the machine so she could just be insane.

She does jump and either becomes one with the machine or is dead. The entire planet gives off a pulse a final message goes out so the planet probably was a machine talking to her.

So far this season has been pretty good.

Binged the whole thing this afternoon and I loved every episode. The

Spoiler:

Cthulu

episode was phenomenal.

I’m loving every episode. Just finished Swarm.

"Night of the Mini Dead" just absolutely killed me. Great use of miniature faking/tilt-shift perspective.

I just finished the last episode. I think this season is outstanding. I loved almost every episode, but I'll point out Bad Traveling, Mason's Rats, and the incredible Jibaro as my three favorites. Not a bad one in the season, though. Great fun!

I liked but didn't love them. Most didn't have any sort of twist, arc or sting in the tail. The animation was great across he board, but it didn't feel like there was much point to some of them. The first series (which had different problems, especially how often it conflated "love" and "tits") had generally more meat on the bones for me narratively.

Jibaro especially looked incredible but had the weakest story. I felt the same about The Witness from the first series.

fairy tales and myths aren't known for their narrative depths

For me this season of LDR was far stronger than the second. Jibaro was visually stunning, but a bit hard to watch from a story perspective. Bad Traveling was really impressive in both visuals and storytelling. I still like the military sci-fi entries. Night of the Mini Dead had me in stitches.

There were a couple that I wasn't sure of the ending.

In Vaulted Halls Entombed:

Spoiler:

Did the medic blind and deafen herself so she wouldn't be influenced by the creature?

Swarm:

Spoiler:

So, uh, I just didn't really get the ending of this one. Did the dude agree to be a stud for the creature's breeding program? The creature didn't know that the woman was sympathetic to its cause? I was a bit confused.

I think Jibaro and The Witness had the same team (or at least author) behind them.

That's how I read it, yep. It's all very Cthulu.

Yea, basically. The intelligent one said they bred new, deadlier, versions of the one alien that grazed on his throw up, when that species threatened the swarm. So when they encounter a life form that threatens them, they breed deadlier versions of what ever is threatening the swarm and turn the breeds against the threat.

Love Death + Robots
Night of the mini Dead

I liked this one also. A new style of animation or maybe it wasn't animation. Well some of it was. This was the walking dead condensed into 6 minutes and it worked pretty good.

So far there hasn't been any boobs in the episodes but maybe this had them but they were to small to see.

Love Death + Robots
Kill Team Kill

Probably the most violent episode so far. The animation style was kind of like Venture Brothers. Also reminded me of the vampire episode from the first season. Basic team vs monster but is man the real monster? No the monster is the monster or is it? dun dun dun

Love Death + Robots
Swarm

This one seems incomplete. The episode is 17 minutes long so is one of the longer ones but it ends on a cliffhanger.

Animation kind of reminded me of Mass Effect. Some of the creatures even the main one might have been inspired by Mass Effect. There was sex scene and no boobs, how did they resist that.

I think most people will see where the story is going a mile away but I still dug what they given us. I just hope the next season continues the story.

Love Death + Robots
Mason's Rats

This episode probably best represents the title Love Death + Robots. This one is 10 minutes long and didn't go where I thought it would. Very violent towards the rats. The kills were creative.

A first I was a little confused by the ending but I think I get it on reflection.

Spoiler:

I guess the man respected the rats will to fight and started to feel bad for them.

I thought the man would help the robot and the robot would turn on the man.

Really liked the robot design which is a classic look but the classics can be cool.

Love Death + Robots
In Vaulted Halls Entombed

Closes so far to real life for the animation. I liked this one but didn't care for the ending. I'm not sure what the ending meant. The stakes seem to be world ending and I wasn't sure if the world was doomed or saved.

Love Death + Robots
Jibaro

Nope this is the one closest to real life. I not sure if it was animated. Also might be the best episode of the series.

Spoiler:

So a gold covered siren kills a bunch of knight. Her magical dance and song gets them to kill each other. One knight is able to survive because he is deaf.

The siren tries to F him but I'm not sure why. Maybe because he was able to resist her that made him attractive or something. Anyway the knight is like I don't do monsters and kills but I think he did it just to take her gold. He didn't seem all that upset by her killing his men.

After he kills the siren and takes her gold he tosses her nearly nude body back in the lack which then turns blood red. Note the siren was wearing the gold like clothes.

The next day the knight is able to hear which freaks him out. No reason is given as to why he can now hear. This is a big problem because he is still by the lake and siren is resurrected like Jesus. Interestingly she clear shows modesty at not having the gold to wear. She kind of tries to cover her privates. Also she might have lost her hearing. She kind of acts like she can't hear her own singing. So maybe somehow the knight took her hearing.

Freshly reborn the siren spots the knight and uses her song to force him to drown himself. I'm not sure if she gets her hearing back. She didn't pickup the gold but it is just sitting there lakeside so I would guess she can just go pick it up.

The lesson from this is if you murder someone leave the area. Also don't go around murdering people or sleeping with strangers. They'll steal the clothes off your back.

Ghost in the Shell SAC 2045 pt 2

The second season came and tried to fix up the mess that was the first season. The animation is still not good but it looks like they got a little bit better. The story is a mess from the first part but they did manage to tie many of the threads together.

I liked it because I really like the series but if you’d never seen much of GITS before, watch the movie they created out of the first Netflix series and then watch the second season, it will make mose sense

Love, Death, and Robots S3 was so much better than S2.

Really enjoy LDR. As a big fan of Heavy Metal magazine from back in the day this show really scratches an itch.

I've rewatched S1 and S2 of Love, Death and Robots and enjoyed S2 more than S1, there seemed to be much more variety in the stories (expect that 2 were very similar).
Still think S3 is the best though.

She blinded herself to save the world. Standard Cthulu stuff.

As for Jibaro: the blood that fills the lake heals the siren. The knight drinks of it and it heals his hearing.

Masons rats: The man is horrified at the carnage and puts a stop to it.
