[News] Post a D&D Picture

Previous incarnations of Cleveland/P&C/D&D have had an image thread, to handle political cartoons and other image-based stuff that doesn't belong in the general post-a-picture threads.

If any of them spawn an extended discussion, please spawn it off into its own thread. Replies to non-picture replies should take the form of a link pointing to a post on a different discussion thread.

And I shouldn't have to say it, but the images still need to abide by the rules.

That'll teach me to skim like the filthy skimmer I am.

Ukrainians are setting up pet feeding stations in deserted and destroyed neighborhoods.

This will happen regardless of how "careful" the response is. Or more correctly: protests will be ignored when too "careful", and vilified whenever someone raises their voice.

Hate stuff like this...

Doesn't matter one bit if that 60% doesn't vote and if those that do get their particular fanatic elected.

Many times they do vote. Things are so gerrymandered they lose anyway, and in some places (looking at you, Florida) that's getting a lot worse.

Doesn't really matter what people want, anyway. The legal principle of bodily autonomy says the government can't force you to undergo a dangerous medical procedure to save another person's life, even if a fetus were a person, which it isn't. Period. But the law doesn't matter when elections of your preferred party are on the line.

Which is kind of based on what people wanted. The "founders" wanted to have those things so they put them into their founding documents. They can be taken away.

Amendments take 3/4 vote. Not a bullsh*t legal opinion from 3 judges appointed by presidents who didn't win the popular vote.

Minority rule theocracy is most definitely not in the constitution.

Also, the Republican Party has won 3 of the past 8 presidential elections despite winning the popular vote only once - the one time being when they had an incumbent who lost the popular vote the first time around.

Popularity only takes you so far when the game is rigged.

Not only is it free speech to protest in front of abortion clinics, it is legal to block the entrances such that women need escorts to shield them while entering the clinic whether they were there for abortion services or not.
It is also apparently legal to follow the doctors from the clinic to their homes or regular places of work and harass them there. The doctors need clinic workers to drive them to where they park off site in secret to protect them. But many of those have been followed and harassed as well.

How Men can Prevent Abortions!

Gotta shoehorn the daily dose of islamophobia into actions taken by a group of Christians representing Christian values :/

More that the Christians who are in power here seem to have very similar outlooks about women (and religion's role in government and society) that folks like the Taliban do.

They're both religious extremists who'd be happiest if the clock was turned back a couple of centuries.

The Taliban had outlawed, under threat of death, the practice of bacha bazi in Afghanistan, both during their first rule and now. Something the Catholic church is still not able to get its act together on.

How have I not seen this one before?

Since none of them were native americans, I'd say all of them were immigrants.

"Immigrant" can have a number of definitions, but I think absent further context, it generally does not include anyone born in the new country (mom, dad, 3 year old, and 5 year old move to a new country, then they are immigrants, but a third child born 2 years later is not, and when the 3 and 5 year olds grow up and have their own kids, they definitely aren't*). I believe that under this definition, two out of three of Trump's wives were immigrants.

*Edge cases exist including if the 3 year old later moves out of the country either back to where they were born or a third country, has a child there, and then that child immigrates back to same country their parents and grand parents previously immigrated to.

That is not even the right false equivalency. Sikhs typically wear turbans. None of the 911 hijackers were Sikh.

Give the guy a break. That tweet was 9 years ago. He's probably figured out how to spot the muslims he hates by now.
