Modded Minecraft Multiplayer Server

I hope so!

I probably won't be on because I've fallen down hard into the rabbit hole that is Oxygen Not Included.

ONI is such an excellent game. Suuuper detailed modeling of all sorts of physics (except gravitational?), and a cute presentation layer.

I had no idea how deep it goes when I first started it. It's insanely complex.

Off topic, but I could never get into it It just makes me want to play even more Rimworld. So I do.

I like Rimworld .very much.

I'll run Rustic Waters II past my crew and see what they think. Ten pages of mods might be too much for our machines though.

I've been playing it solo, and I do like it. The design is rather elegant. Polished.

I must admit I've run into problems installing it on the server. The doco is not what it should be. I will persist, and keep you in touch.

Not sure what your install problems are, but I have a Scalacube server that - supposedly - is a one click install for Rustic Waters II.

I'll be happy to install it there, if you like.

Yeah, it should be pretty straightforward on MTX as well - just click on the Modpack tab, search for Rustic Waters II, and click install.

What are the issues? I could try installing and see if I have the same problems, if you like.

I'm down to play, just lemme know the info to connect and version number on the modpack

Well this feedback is all good. My French friends at MTXSERV have really let me down and I wonder whether they're going out of business, or abandoning the US market. The doco is conflicting; the tutorials are in French (which I don't know); and the support has been lousy. No wonder the French lost WWII!

Moggy, if you'd like to install it on your server I'd be delighted. The only thing is I have about 60 hours in on my solo installation, and I'd like to transfer it to our multiplayer server. Would that be ok? I can send a zipped world file. Tell me when you're ready for it.

I installed Rustic+Waters+II+1.16+Server and Rustic+Waters+II+1.16-1.16 under M/C 1.16.5 with Forge-1.16.5-36.2.34.

That's good. I was getting pretty embarrassed that I wasn't able to follow through. And me with 50 years in IT.

I think if you try RW II you'll like it. There is SOME tedious grinding, but not as much as other oceanblock mods I've played. The design is elegant and well thought out.

Crypto, glad to hear from you!

Roger, for that version of the modpack, I believe you need Forge 36.2.29, not 36.2.34

And did you ask them to just make that modpack available for their one-click installer? Then you don't need to worry about figuring out the correct Forge version, etc.

Can't do anything today, but will look at it tomorrow. Shoot me the world file and I'll see if I can import it. I'll also need a white list, black list, and an admin list.

Not sure if there'll be anything else I'll need, but I'll try.

I did ask them to install it, several days ago. No response. The company behaves as if they're in disarray.

You're right about the Forge version. I mispoke. However, I actually installed the correct version of forge at the server. To make sure, I reimaged the server and restarted it with a default world file, and it didn't work, in the same way as before.

The admin list is "Mastrude" and "merphle". The whitelist is the same. The blacklist is empty. I'll send you the world file when you can start the server with a default world, if that's ok. That way there'll only be an hour or so lag.

I could use a party in my game. I'm getting killed. Hope to see you soon.

Odd, it doesn't look good for you to play with your kids. The pack seems like a monster. At times it seems to bring my pc to its knees.

OK, the server seems to be up and running:

IP:

54.39.141.118:2204

The version is 1.15 of Rustic Waters II. Not the latest version, but the one prior to that. Even with the correct version installed in your Curseforge (1.15), you'll probably get an FML Incompatible error. Still seems to connect, though.

I've added me, Mastrude, and merphle as operators and whitelisted.

Mastrude, if you want to be able to manage the actual server install (please!) make a Scalacube account and send me your login email. I'll then be able to "share" the server with you that should then give you manage capability to it. That should enable you to upload your own world without putting me in the middle. I'm crazy busy for the next week, so there'd be an inevitable delay if left to me.

If everything looks good at your end then we can open it up to the others.

OK. I'll give it a try later tonight. I've created an account with them, [email protected].

Good lord, Moggy, what time zone are you in?

OK, I'm in. Seems an ok time to invite everyone.

Everyone: Come on in, the water's fine.

1 At present only Moggy can whitelist you. Text or email him.
2 Install the CurseForge manager at curseforge.com
3 Install Rustic Waters II v.1.15 on your pc, using the curseforge client.
4 Start Rustic Waters II, and set up a shared server connection at IP: 54.39.141.118:2204
5 That should do it.

I'm in eastern. Though the last few days have involved some very early starts, so I was up much earlier than usual today.

Ok. What do you want to do about your world? I think I'll be able to import it - though not until tomorrow evening.

I will recreate my world under 1.15, avoiding version hassles. I'm playing now. I'm looking forward to your joining the game. You too Merphle, and all the crew!

OK, I've "shared" the console with you. Login to Scalacube and go to https://scalacube.com/cp#/console/67...

You should be able to add folk to the white using this console. Or you can do it in game as well, seeing as you've got operator privilege. Same is true for Merphle.

So anyone wanting access, post up here with your Minecraft usernames and one of us will get you added.

As a heads-up for all new players. When you spawn in, you'll see that mastrude has already made a massive start.

To get your own starting area:

1 - open the quest book by opening your inventory and clicking on the little book in the top left corner
2 - Then click on the pink heart top-right labelled Emergency Items
3 - When the counter counts down you'll get a "New Player Hub Spawn Key" in your inventory
4 - exit out of the quest book and use (right click) the item.

You'll spawn in a new starting area.

If I can get on the whitelist I will try to pop in at some point.
MonoCheli is my Minecraft handle if you need more detail let me know.

You're added. Welcome!

I'm concerned about the new server. First, there are some error messages when you connect:

Incompatible FML modded server
Server mod list is not compatible
Data may be inaccurate due to protocol size limits.

However, the game seems to play just fine.

Second, I've been using creative mode to recreate the environment I had slowly built up in my solo world. But I'm getting a warning:

[Draconic Evolution]: Warning: Using creative inventory on a server will delete all module data on DE tools and armor.
This is due [to] a fundamental issue with the creative menu.

It's not clear whether the problem can arise only with created DE items, or any created items.

Frankly, I'm not sure what to do. I don't want to lose my approx. 10 days play. Trying to recreate my earlier world has been a whole lot of work. Is there any interest in a different modpack? I could play my RWII game out, solo.

Or, maybe maybe I might find myself willing to reinitialize the server and start over, if I were seeing ANY other players.

I popped in earlier today for a little bit. I'm not going to be a frequent player. I'm in a period of the year where time and connectivity are variable and in short supply.

As far as the errors are concerned, dunno. I've been using Scalacube for years and have never experienced these kind of errors with other mod packs when the client and server versions match. I'm also a little surprised that the server version is not the latest release. They are usually very good at making the latest release available shortly after it's released. Techopolis was available for update within a couple of days.

If you want to keep going, I'm OK with that. If you want to reinitialize the server, that's OK with me as well. Anybody else who's put some time in should weigh in as well.
