I see them alot in New England. It's really weird.

Because a lot of people without insurance go to ER for things they would go to regular doctors for.

Also because at times COVID had left emergency rooms with 8-12 hour waits.

This was happening pre-covid. People going to the ER instead of Urgent Care makes a lot if sense.

So Twitch retired their app that I used to use to access my Twitch library of free (mostly bobbins) games that Amazon Prime had given me.

Now I can't for the life of me find a way to access that library either on Amazon or on Twitch. Google has failed me. Anyone know?

EDIT - found it (kind of) - there's an Amazon Games app that I installed, and that has my old Twitch library. I literally couldn't find a way to get to that app (nor the slightest mention of it) on Amazon.com, but found a link to it on a 3rd party site.

Amazon games app?

Are they not in there? I thought that's where all of mine went to when they switched over

Yeah it feels like a half-hearted effort to shoo the video games off to the side, doesn't it?

They can't be making very much money on it. Epic and Steam have the market largely cornered.

I've found the amazon games app to be pretty good (in the sense that it is basic, and just works). I've switched to using the Playnite app since I have so many games across all of the various platforms. It's saved me from buying a game I already had on one of the other platforms.

Is the way things work for electricity transmission (poles, wires, transformers, etc) standardized so much that people from different jurisdictions (or countries) can easily help without needing to be retrained?

Within the US, and maybe Canada, I think the answer is yes.

Why does jarritos guava not come in a can? The Mexican place near me only has cans which means no guava

If you look at Jarritos website, they have a lot of info on Social Responsibility, which includes recycling and reducing resource use. It's probably easier for them to recycle glass alone than maintain programs for glass, metal and plastic. I find that interesting. All their drinks seem to come in glass.

I remember in the 80s and into the 90s, there was a movie theater chain that had a Monty Python style courtesy video before the film. One of those "No Smoking" and "No Talking" clips. Does anybody remember these? If so my has anybody seen them posted online anywhere?

A couple come to mind. You can find several on youtube by looking up "theater bumper" plus or minus the type or theater you want. I'm sure it's a shallow selection of all the ones produced over years, but at least it is a start.

Yeah, this one was so obscure. But when we went to one of the theaters we frequented in NJ we always looked forward to it. Introduced me to Monty Python style animation without even knowing it.

This No Smoking short from John Waters used to play in Baltimore at one of the art theaters, in the 1980's and later. Every time it came on a bunch of people would up and leave the theater in a hurry, and come back smelling of smoke.

Yeah it's a f*cking fever dream memory!

Maybe we've got a whole lot of old stock then because they always have jarritos lime, tamarind, mandarin, pineapple in cans, and they're not licenced to a local factory, they're imported.

Totally different from their website. It's almost like a big company is lying to us lol.

What's a good site nowadays to buy and sell computer hardware besides eBay? I'm looking to sell an old MacBook and maybe buy a used Mac Mini.

I sold my old Cintiq on Buybackworld.com back in February. Everything went well, but they took waaaay longer to process my order and therefore pay me than the website said they would. Other than that, very good experience.

Was looking for an M1 - either 256 or 512gb

Somehow Google has started setting reminders for me for things I very much don't care about: IMAGE(https://i.ibb.co/zxTPZjS/Screenshot-20220610-083509-One-UI-Home.jpg)

In this case it's about Facebook, but they seem to be set for any random news thing. I can of course stop this one but doing so doesn't stop new reminders from being set. I checked in my Google assistant reminders and they don't appear there. Anyone know how to stop this?

Stop using Google stuff.

Sorry, that's not a helpful answer. But stuff like this just re-strengthens my resolve to keep de-Googling.

I get how to de-google for search and browser. I use Firefox with a duck search. Easy enough. But I don't ever seem able to find a viable alternative for the trinity of email/calendar/docs.

Does anyone have a solid recommendation for a personal-use gmail/calendar/docs/keep alternative? I don't mind paying if the product is good quality.

I've mostly de-Googlefied in favor of iCloud - except my email and YouTube.

I transferred my contacts and calendar out of Google and into iCloud (but you can use other services). Then I use the Spark email client and connect both accounts. I can then use my contacts with my Gmail address even though my contacts are no longer stored with Google. The nice thing about Spark is you can easily clear email based on category (like the old Inbox app) and I never need to visit that horrific Gmail web site again.

I prefer iCloud because I'm deep in the Apple ecosystem, but Microsoft also has a strong productivity ecosystem as well - especially OneDrive with Office docs. I'm obviously biased, but I just never liked the Google UI for pretty much any of their web apps - and I'm not an Android user so I can't comment there.

I've been using Protonmail for the last 2 years. It's a paying service, and migrating all your accounts is a pain, but I'm really glad to have moved away.

I still use Google Calendar though, the Proton calendar is still not mature enough.
