Hidden Gems of HBO Max

I ended up enjoying it a lot, though the final arc following the Riddler's capture felt not quite as good as the rest of the film.

Yeah that final action set piece felt like it was from a different movie, the whole thing was a little too over the top. But yeah overall really enjoyed the movie and overall vibe.

Oh my god. Tokyo Vice is so good and intense.

The Flight Attendant season two is starting out strong. Can’t wait for the rest of it.

Loved the first two episodes. I wish they were all available!

Finally saw The Batman. Really fun! Pattinson is definitely a better Batman than Bale, but not as good as Keaton or Affleck. Movie could've been shorter but still, with two bottles of wine we didn't mind so much.

I have loved the first 2 episodes of Tokyo Vice.
It is Michael Mann so I expect Heat levels of brutality any minute now...

Saw Time Travelers Wife, the series, trailer on Twitter last night. Looks good.

Rothaniel is really good...

Better movie. And I liked The Batman.

Pure. West.

Oh, it gets brutal.

I've been enjoying Tokyo Vice, but Julia has won my heart.

Started watching Julia. I like it! Good vibes.

I was watching Tokyo vice and was surprised how long it took HBO to throw in the nudity scenes. But once they started they went all in.

I wonder what percentage of people watch HBO for the nudity. Most of it felt like it served no purpose in the story.

I am trying to watch as much spanish tv as possible.

If you're still trying to watch Spanish TV then you might also want to check out Sr. Avila. It's about an insurance executive who leads a double life as a contract killer.

I found it after binging the latest season of Better Call Saul on Netflix and being blown away by Lalo Salamanca, played by Tony Dalton. Dalton starred in Sr. Avila before BCS.

I'm about a season in and am digging it so far.

Nice. Added to my list, with thanks!

On the subject of Spanish TV, I would recommend 30 Coins. It is absurdly violent and gory, but great fun. And I know this is the HBO Max thread, but I also enjoyed The Barrier (La valla) and The Innocent (El inocente) on Netflix.

Just finished watching The Batman (not a hidden gem but it is on HBO).

Spoiler:

Man, those people played the sh*t out of those Telltale Batman games.

We Own This City hits all The Wire notes that I have been missing. Great premiere episode. Entirely upsetting, but good TV.

I forgot how much I missed Barry until watching the opening scene of the third season premiere. What a fantastically entertaining show.

We finished Julia. Absolutely delightful....

Strip clubs were a big part of the culture from the book / story it is based off of.

My daughter is getting to the age where I'm starting to get some mileage out of having huge swaths of Sesame Street at my disposal. If you're looking for a hit of Big Muppet Energy, check out season 50, episode 2: The Great Sesame Street Cake-Off. It opens with a delightful segment of pure chaos before it settles down into the usual Elmo cartoons and letter and number songs.

The Time Traveller's Wife episode 2 was incredible. My wife read the book back in the day and says they're taking it in some interesting directions.

Raised by Wolves was cancelled.

We didn’t watch season 2 yet, so we'll likely not as it seems the story wasn’t over.

Tokyo Vice got renewed.

Good, because it kind of ended with a lot of storylines not resolved.

I'm really sad about this. I appreciated its weirdness and energy.

I was digging the show. Maybe they will end it in a comic.
