Nintendo Switch - Games You Can Play Right Now

I somehow missed that Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity was an alternative timeline, which is the only way things really make sense.

I haven't played this yet and didn't watch the video due to a) spoilers and b) it's 30 whole minutes, but I thought a large selling point of AoC that it was telling the direct back story to Breath of the Wild? It turns out that's not actually true?

Nope, though admittedly it became clear pretty quick even in the demo that if it was, it'd do a lot of screwing with the story of the original game.

Tired: Pixel graphics.

Wired: PS1-style 3D with warped and unfiltered textures mapped onto jittering polygons.

Though I understand the quoted meme, my brain still rebels at the notion of "wired" referring to anything but wireframe vector graphics in this context...

So I snagged Diablo III since I'm on an ARPG kick and Warhammer Inquisitor isn't on the dang thing. You know what? It's really good! Maybe better than the PC version!

Not sure why this posted twice, sorry.

Yup, D3 with a controller is phenomenal. Every arpg needs a dodge move with the right stick.

Right? Why isn't the PC version like this?

Also snagged Torchlight II and my lord it's great.

'Tis a fun game. Kit and I like playing Co-op a lot.

Disco Elysium is on sale digital and I am tempted. ($25)

One question - how is the font size in handheld? I have had a few games where it is just too small to play comfortably. Since this game really depends on a lot of text I don't want to get into a game that I can't enjoy in handheld.

Looks like they released a patch for the PlayStation version earlier this year to enable larger font sizes, so hopefully that’s included in the Switch version? Screen Rant’s Switch review seems to mention font scaling is an option in it.

You’re also on a OLED, correct? Just confirming the screen size may be bigger than the experiences provided.

Yes it is the oled version so it might not be an issue but I know there is a lot of reading in DE

Anyone tried Reverie Knights Tactics! ?

I love tactics games but I like to see more comments before I spend $20

farley3k have you played Fell Seal? I'm about 20 hours in and really liking it

I have not but it is added to my wishlist on DekuDeals. $30 is to high to just jump on but it appears to go on sale regularly so I will be adding it.

Thanks!

Fell Seal is great. I'm playing on PC the last few weeks. Thread here.

Unforeseen Incidents released today. Point-and-click, with an art style I'm really digging.

The landscapes have a nice Oly Moss/Firewatch look to them. Not as keen on the character art but I don't dislike it either. Will have to keep an eye on this one.

A Kirby and the Forgotten Land demo is now available. Just downloaded it.

Thanks, I grabbed my Switch and downloaded it. I will try to put some time in it.

So I got Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate on sale a little while back. I'd never played a MH game before, and the reviews for this one were stellar, so I thought I'd dive in. I didn't know what to expect, but several tutorials in and I'm really impressed. There seems to be a lot going on here, and a ton of content. I love hub-based, mission-based games, so this looks like it'll definitely scratch that itch. Looking forward to more.

There's so much to do in MHGU that it's almost overwhelming, but in a good way. I'm glad you're enjoying your first foray into the series and, IMHO, you've picked the best title with which to start: lots to do, so many monsters, tons of cool weapons, and the signature goofy dialog and situations (the subsequent MH:World really dialed back on this aspect, and to its detriment, I think).

I'd love to hear how your adventures are going, so please consider posting in the MHGU thread, and drop a line if/when you'd be up for some jolly co-op.

If that happens I might have to resubscribe to Nintendo Switch Online...

NEW/OLD MARIO KART TRACKS!!!

Oh hell yeah. Just what I need to pull me away from F-Zero X.

The reviews are coming out for Rune Factory 5. I was a big fan of RF 4 and was looking forward to this one, but it sounds like the performance issues that plagued the Japanese launch almost a year ago still haven't been fixed. Kind of a bummer, but that just makes it that much easier to wait for a sale to pick it up.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was a blast. The biggest complaint I saw was about the camera, and it’s certainly not great at times, but tolerable. I enjoyed the gameplay and very comic book story. Now that I’ve rolled credits, I’m not sure if I’ll move on or stick it out for some of the post game challenge. Either way, I enjoyed my time with the main story and some grinding.

Ended up with a team of SpiderGwen, Wasp, Crystal, and Scarlet Witch (who was later swapped for Storm). It was a fun team with some solid synergies. I could see finding another good team a fun excuse to play more.

Yes I too am enjoying this very much!

It was actually your recent posts in the weekend playing thread that got me to finally bump it to the top of my pile and give it a real go.

I have that one on deck to really dive into as soon as I finish Breath of the Wild. I played it a little with my kids already and liked it, I just need to get back to it.
