SWTOR: Catch-All

Dammit, ran, I don't have time for this in my life! Any talk of revamped user experience brings me a calling though!

Still plenty of people playing it - I was on this evening, and Taris was up over 100 players on it.

Signed up for a month. Any benefit to joining a Guild if I have no idea how long I'll stick with it, again?

Only if you plan on doing the endgame content (FYI all the cool stuff is a few months out still)

You do get access to the test server which started up today with the guardian changes

I haven't played in, well forever. I just got it reinstalled, called support to get access to my account again. But I am going to start a new character. Haven't played an MMO in a long long time so if anyone wants to join me on the grind up from level 1, I can use the company :).

Enjoying my time, again. Almost done with the Jedi Consular story for the first time. It's okay. Well written, well acted.

Gotta say, I don't think I ever appreciated the death animations as much as I am this go around.

Hmm. I purchased a lifetime sub 10 years ago, wonder if that's still good? Might have to reinstall!

On the off chance that anyone's done it, I'm at the first mission of the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion, on Voss.

One question - how the holy heck do I get through that stupid part of the mission when I'm trying to get to the Shrine of Healing in a walker ?

I'd seriously have more chance of doing it if I was on me own two feet at this point.

Anyone got any tips ?

I guess checking out videos on youtube is your best bet!

I've been digging the 4k releases of the old cinematic trailers. Those are some good slices of Star Wars.

I really should try again and finish my first story. It was fun when I played, but have forgotten half of it after 2 years.

So happy we got a new one. Can't wait to dive into this, but of course work has reared its ugly head.

Reminder that this got pushed back to June... So we got time

I thought it was dropping this week sometime. Or is that the 7.0 patch now and the new story later?

It looks like it was released today.

It better be after that multi-gig update.

Well that's cool! Too bad i'm neck deep into Lost Ark, but i'll be jumping in when i'm able.

Hopped back on yesterday to roll up another toon (Imperial Agent...this will be #4).

Looks a lot more streamlined in terms of inventory management etc, once I'd checked out where the skills were etc, which might make it easier to get into. You can now vary your build by adding second specialisations from other classes (my agent could add a second spec of Powertech, which is a Bounty Hunter spec), but at the moment I can't quite see how that works because the skills from the second spec aren't yet available to me - might be a lvl 10 thing, or after you've done the intro.

Still looks good, storyline stuff is still the best of any MMO that I've played, it's eminently soloable but with perks for grouping. Looks like my Star Wars adventures will be continuing.

Now if only my lvl 75 Sith could work out how to do that expansion mission where you have to pilot a walker..

New characters can pick their mechanical class and storyline separately, with some restrictions. They're split between the Force users and the Tech-based classes. The Sith and Jedi are still split but the others can freely mix and match. So if you want to be a Smuggler with a heavy cannon or a Bounty Hunter that sneaks around and stabs people, now you can. Also apparently a Sith that goes full light side or a Jedi who goes full dark will have the option of switching to the opposite faction's corresponding abilities.

I think the second spec is a subscriber-only perk. I'm not sure how much of that system is exposed to free players as a tease, or what happens when one's subscription lapses.

Apparently there is no cost for the expansion. If you are subbed, you get it. If you are not subbed, sub for a month and you get the expansion(s). (a streamer said that you sub for one month and get all the prior expansions as well...)

I'm a new player. Currently a level 65 jedi knight1. Really been enjoying the game.

I can confirm as I have only subbed this month but I have access to everything. From what I read even when my sub runs out I'll have access to the expansion content, just with preferred restrictions.

If you've unlocked either the LightV/DarkV achievements you can have a jedi with Sith powers or Sith with jedi powers. And yeah the second combat style is a sub perk.

I kind of wish you could choose on a per-power basis. So like I could have an Inquisitor/Consular whose channeled attack is lightning but yanks rocks out of the ground for their instant attack.

Though come to think of it, last time I looked at the Consular they seemed to have some kind of force blast rather than the "where did that rock come from? we're one a spaceship" one they had at launch.

I do appreciate how quickly leveling takes. I started at the beginning of the month, about two weeks before 7.0 launch. I'm already lvl75 and I just got to Hoth. This has some nice advantages. I can already participate in some endgame activities and Flashpoints are giving me decent Ilvl gear. I don't even feel like I've rushed it to much. Mostly been sticking to class and story arcs. The level matching for an area is nice along the lines that I'm not OP, while letting me do se good progression.

I’m tempted to come back but have so much on my plate so far. That being said, I hate that force powers are locked behind light/dark side ranks. Playing a benevolent dictator sith or Jedi knight willing to get his hands dirty was a lot of fun, but neither of those styles made it easy to get to max points.

Yeah, it's a shame that some stuff is locked to the extremes. The more varied, middle-of-the-road story I took my Sith Warrior through was a great narrative and people shouldn't be discouraged from trying those.
