WoW: Dragonflight

So is 9.1 everything we always dreamed of?

Resubbed today just to take a peek. It's not blowing me away.

They are very formulaic in their design these days. It could be seen as a reskinned Nazjatar/Broken Shore/Argus/Tanaan.
Oh well, I am playing Retail for the first time in nearly ½ a year. #partoftheproblem

It sure beats doing World Quests at least.

It’s not promising that it took them this long to put out so little. We will see what the mega dungeon and new raid brings but so far it’s underwhelming. My biggest annoyance is having to redo my legendary because I couldn’t see into the future and know that Blizzard was going to add raid specific gear with sockets that would be crucial.

Flying achieved!

Gratz on Flying! No more annoying dismounts while running thru the forest.

I'm enjoying it, but I'm not blown away by it.

Dropped my sub today after reading the California court filing.

Yeah. I am not subscribed but any barely audible rumblings about coming back to WoW are long gone.
Also, I am so not surprised though I had hoped that due to Blizzard's size there would be some level of protection in numbers. That Blizzard is only 20% female at their size says everything.

I know the video game industry as a whole is wildly male dominant. Blizzard though has the resources, role diversity and specialization, and clout that it should have at least double that percentage of women employees. No wonder WoW's story has been a mess for years. (and they keep recycling classic ones with a slap of Earl Schieb)

And this on the heels of Diablo 3's new season tonight.

I haven't paid real money for my WoW sub for a long time (tokens), but I am done with it. Will just miss my goal of having 1 million in gold, but it's just not worth it.

FFXIV is quite good!

I had just started to get back into WoW after not playing since the beginning of the year too, but this sh*t is inexcusable and Bliz’s response to it shows that they don’t intend on doing anything meaningful about it unless they’re forced to. F**k’em.

Good news for the two of us still playing this dumb game: patch 9.1.5 will come out Nov 2.

There isn't much new content except for Legion Timewalking and Mage Tower 2.0. This is an enormous quality-of-life patch that also promises to be a lot more alt-friendly than SL has been so far.

If you're looking to go back and do old content, this is a great patch. If you're looking for new content, wait till 9.2.

MAW INTRODUCTION SKIPPABLE
Players who have completed the introduction in the Maw on one character will be able to speak to Highlord Darion Mograine in the capital cities to skip it on their alternative characters on their account.

Only like 1 year too late..

I still play because it is free. Looking forward to the QOL improvements.

Wellactually, SL has only been out for 11 months ...

That said, it feels like I've been playing SL for about three years.

I don't much mind the maw intro, as it's better XP for the time spent than most of the other stuff you can be doing in threads of fate. Maybe if I was doing more than 1 character per covenant I'd feel differently.

Then again, if XP/time is the main consideration I think you don't do Threads of Fate at all.

At any rate, I don't begrudge anyone who does want to do the skip.

How are the QOL improvements for their employees coming along?

The union buster law firm is "working" on it.

First thought: I look forward to the day when I can remove either the Xbox app or Battle.net from my desktop...

MS has already added a new item to WoW's online store:

More meme reax here.

People would probably buy the Lil Clippy pet for $20 :). I could see this along with a master chief battle pet.

So the final patch for Shadowlands, Eternity's End, is out today.

I'll play it through. I mean I've come this far with this very average expansion.

Honestly, the more I play WoW, the more I question my decision to keep playing. I have the latest expansion for SW:TOR, I have the Elder Scrolls Online, LOTRO, hell even Lost Ark to keep my MMO urges satisfied. WoW is not the juggernaut it used to be in my head.

I'm still on my Blizz boycott, but I'm curious how SL ends.

I too have a consistent MMO itch. My latest ointment was ESO, but I burned through what I want of that pretty quick. SW:TOR seemed fine, but when they 4K'd their trailers it just makes the game seem worse.

9.2 dropped on Tuesday. FYI for anyone just coming out of a coma.

Same. But I also can't imagine not playing it, as dumb as that sounds.

I need to make myself take a WOW vacation after I run through 9.2 content and before the next expansion comes out. But those alts won't level themselves, those achievements won't achieve themselves, I can't collect every mace transmog in the game if I'm playing something else, etc etc etc.

It doesn't sound dumb. I think it's because I'm so far along I might as well see this story to the end.

With that said, there is a long hiatus that I'm going to have with WoW once this is done, probably unsubscribe for a while. There's too many other MMOs that are trying harder to please.

So...anyone want to make predictions about the next expansion?

Prediction:
Dragonflight title is true.
The Dragonflight "leak" about the content (Mini classes etc.) is blatantly wrong.

Blizzard will try to sell the expansion as a return to more classic WoW setting and gameplay, but for the most part they will repeat the same mistakes.

I also predict I will for inexplicable reasons buy the new expansion. And probably should get around to lvl up my characters to 60, so they can play it when it arrives :S

Agreed. ActiBlizz will give a nod and a wink to substantive changes but there will be mostly more of the same. This will be the first time I pass on an expansion. Unless my expectations are way off base. But that seems very unlikely.

I mean what's left to do after conquering death, the afterlife and reality? I'll probably buy it just because I'm THAT GUY but WoW will really have to wow me on this expansion to keep playing, pun very much intended.

They need to own that they have tapped out WoW and go back to space, but really space stuff. Not a small part of Legion. Then reveal it's now the long asked for StarCraft MMO.
