Yeah I really guessed

Spoiler:

ronin before robin

But maybe Moggy did too. ;)

I did too! Great minds!

Yeah

Pretty proud of this one after going 0-fer on the first guess.

I got that second to last letter and then… nothing. I think I eliminated so many letters that when I finally found a valid word in guess 4 it had to be the answer.

After my third guess I knew what the 2nd letter had to be and that led pretty easily into what the word is.

After the second guess I thought I knew the first three letters. My third guess was really just testing that hypothesis. Did not expect it to be right!

IMPORTANT!
Looks like I was still on the old version of Wordle and not the NYT version. I refreshed and it gave me the correct puzzle and kept my streak going (although I may be up by one extra solve now, I'm not sure).

Spoiler if you want to know if you're on the correct version:

Spoiler:

If your answer contains a G you're on the old/wrong version. If your answer contains an M you're all good.

The correct version doesn't even recognize the old version's answer as a word anymore.

Yeah NYT changed words and guesses

the Times has not only removed rude words like “p*ssy” and “whore” from possible guesses, it’s also changed the game’s future solutions. And surely for a game all about guessing words this counts as a change to gameplay.

As BoingBoing notes, words that have been removed from guesses and solutions include “fibre,” “pupal,” “slave,” and “wench.

...

In a response to one reader asking about the changes, the Times said it had altered the word list to “remove obscure words to keep the puzzle accessible to more people, as well as insensitive or offensive words.” And while it’s certainly true that part of Wordle’s charm is its accessibility, I’d argue that a lovely, assonant word like “agora” — which instantly brings to mind a bustling outdoors meeting space — really didn’t deserve the chop.

Agora is a prefix, not a word.

In all my non-Greek glory.

Agora is definitely a word and it's in every other NYT crossword puzzle so I'm really surprised they took that out.

Granted having seen what isn't allowable in the Spelling Bee, NYT has an odd definition of "obscure" words.

Five guesses this time. I think I tried the word in an earlier guess but must have misspelled it or something.
