Lost Ark - Diablo 3 Clone MMO

Anyone on Mari (US west)?

It’s slow going so far but enjoying it more and more. Only got to level 21 yesterday. Freaked my spouse out because I ended up staying in my office most of the day playing LA yesterday. Gotta remember to warn the SO if you’re going to go balls deep into a new MMO!

So I'm on Avesta. Kilyari. Don't know how to guild up in this MMO but that's where and who I am.

Okay, important question -
Mouse & keyboard or controller. I dislike the click to move mechanic popular in a lot of ARPGS so have started out using the controller, but I find it I still need to go to the keyboard for anything other than move/attack/interact commands.

Tagging, seems I'm playing, and enjoying myself.

I love controllers with ARPGs but i had to concede and settle for m/kb for exactly the reasons you called out. Pressing 2 buttons together for every single activation also got old fast. Combine that with the right stick aiming circle for targeted skills and… yeah the whole controller implementation is pretty half baked.

I sent a guild request to the Alt guild, I'm not able to find the regular one.

Same. Game is interesting but I can also see this is going to be a massive time sink. You know, like every MMO ever.

You know you can click-and-hold to keep moving, right? No need to repetitively click.

My man! Ok, I'll be sure to shoot you an invite tonight. I'm Chillsan currently, which is my scrapper.

An Interactive map showing locations of goodies..

I have a really hard time imagining navigating the menus with anything other M/K. Considering how often you are in menus, that seems like a deal breaker for controllers, or would be for me at least.

I’m on Mari as well, name is Cthain.

Okay, okay, okay.
Ran, you played on the Russian servers no?

I could not resist because while I love the Sorc and Bard, I had to revisit the summoner and try out the other classes not available for the NA launch.

I am guessing that they are in no hurry to introduce new classes since launch seems to be going gangbusters.
But the arcana, summoner and scouter are really cool.

And that is not all: the best by far is the lance master (glaive) subclass of the martial artist. Holy cow is that class the bees knees. Just wow, fast, nimble, good aoe from both weapons, so much fun!

Scouter is a quirky bird but should be fun enough.
Summoner edges out the Sorc but there are trade offs for each.
Arcana seems a little less ranged than the other Mages but what's not to love about exploding cards?

I don't think I am going to continue playing on the Russian server. But 6-12 months is such a long time to wait.

hehe It's going to take 6-12 months just doing end game on the 3 characters we already have.

I'm personally waiting for the Reaper to make it to NA.

I'll have to check that one out as well. The only other class left is the destroyer which I believe we had access to in the beta. I remember liking it which is unusual because I prefer faster, quick hitting classes to lumbering ones.

@fangblackbone: that lance master sounds cool! I'm totally cool for waiting a few more months for these new classes to be added. I'm already using scrapper and would love to have some extra time to grind up alts from entirely different classes.

I'm on Avesta as Stengah. Sent an invite to the alt guild

Also sent an invite request to the Alt guild as Annameta

The reaper is pretty slick as well. It is one of the few classes that has a very satisfying and seemingly more potent normal (right click) attack. I was skeptical as the video looks like just another variant on the other assassins, but in practice, it beats both others.

Keys can be rebound to whatever, but yea i enjoy it more than the other assassins.

I know this is an old game, but at this point should we create a NA/EU Lost Ark thread? I'd rather keep the discussion about different versions separate to alleviate confusion.

No no, I'm done talking about the Ru version ;P
You know me. I am just glad they don't have races in this game because I always have to try every race/class combo in MMOs...

Made it to level 30 and the city of Luterra and holy crap there are a lot of systems in this game. Pretty overwhelming right now, but I’m slowly figuring it out!

The castle siege was frigging epic. Perhaps unfair to compare this to traditional ARPGs but... I've never seen an isometric ARPG do the things LA does with their camera and set pieces. Really great.

I also finally got my stronghold last night. I was introduced to my sexy butler and figured this was a good time to log off before trying to fill my brain with more information at 11pm.

I just went to chop down a tree and clicked it at the same time as another player, and the game switched from my axe animation to a 2 person sawing animation and gave us both full materials from the tree in half the time.

Just thought that was pretty neat!

Thanks for the acceptance into the alt guild. Would like to get into the main guild when space opens up, so I’ll keep an eye out for news on guild space here.

Agreed. The leveling process is a bit tedious with all the fetch quests, but those set piece moments plus some awesome dungeon encounters have definitely been highlights for me.

Yeah, there are a quite a few cool little touches like this. Another one that I've enjoyed is all the quirky text on casting bars for various actions.

I am surprised they changed the prologue from the beta. The prologue for the assassin was a fantastic example of the set piece questing.

The current prologue isn't bad by any stretch but it is much shorter and the set pieces are smaller in scope and complexity.

And still take too long...

We did hit level 2 with the guild tonight and have 2 spots open
