Non-game Android Apps Recommendations Catch-All

It's more like an employee database. So for example you have a list of contacts, you click on a name and up pops up there photo, their contact info, other pertinent details and a resume. That sort of thing.

That's almost like a consumer version of a business CRM system like Salesforce.

Is there a app that can sync notifications between android devices? If I remove a notifications from one device I want the same notification removed from all devices. I've been playing around win Join but I don't think it can do this.

Try memento database. There are lots of templates or build it out yourself. It'll sync w/Google Sheets etc as well. I know Outlook actually lets you attach files to a contact as well, but might not be exactly what they are looking for - not sure if the mobile app takes advantage of that functionality.

I'll suggest it, but I think they may be looking for a one time purchase, and that seems to be a monthly fee. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Only a monthly fee if you use their cloud storage.

Does anyone use a good app for tracking what medication you've taken when?

I haven't tried it yet, but https://www.medisafeapp.com/ was suggested to me.

The recent Chrome OS updates have totally borked SyncThing for Chromebooks.

I'm using Resilio Sync, but I find it very frustrating because it doesn't actually, well, sync things.

It can copy changes back and forth, but it doesn't SYNC them. As in if I delete a file on one end, I can't expect it to actually get deleted on the other. Or you can't mirror a folder so that it *always* resembles the source folder. You know, the literal definition of sync.

Instead, it collects a lot of clutter over time because it errs on the side of never deleting stuff. Except when it DOES. Because how it handles renaming is it deletes EVERYTHING. Then in theory moves stuff back from the delete bin into the newly named folder except... it often fails that step.

Maybe that works for some use cases, I find it extremely aggravating.

Does anyone use something else for Android/Chromebooks that actually syncs properly?

I was using Android Auto, and with a recent update, it can't be use on the cellphone only anymore.

They suggested Google Assistant, but I don't like its music player integration.

Anyone to suggest a similar app to Android Auto, that can use spotify/amazon music and can hop on google maps when needed ?

The new Google Assistant kinda forces me to use Youtube Music Premium for some reason, which I don't have.

Weird. I can use about any audio app. Have you tried the app launcher icon? It's the four boxes in a square.

I know that Nextcloud becomes a Files app provider when you install its Android app, and reboot, but I'm not sure how to open something locally so as to cause it to sync back up to the server.

You mean with Google Assistant? I can use Spotify/Amazon but I can't search thru my library without using hoops. It is auto filled with podcast (which I never listen to). Like it try to feed you suggestions, but I don't want that.

If I use the Ok Google function, and tell it to play a song on Spotify, it tries to use YouTube music by default... I'm not subscribe, so it crashes.

Open the google app, click on your user on the top right>settings>google assistant>music. Change that from youtube music.

That's where your defaults live for a lot of stuff when you call for them in assistant.

Wow... It could have been easier. But thanks, that's setup now !

I don't know, it's only four levels deep, what more do you want?
