Wait . . .

They just want to be Number 1.

Instead of consistently being OBVIOUS JOKE IS OBVIOUS.

Zero chance Winston goes back to TB especially with the same coaching staff. They aren't Carolina or Jax.

I think zero is a significant over-estimation.

Also, r/nfl is obsessed with Gardner Minshew and think he should go to Tampa because he's apparently a real gem. Noooooooooooooo thank you. If I want a guy who has padded his stats against soft defenses when way behind I'll go get nobody because I don't want that guy.

NFL's Denver Broncos for sale; price will likely set a record for any North American sports franchise

Everyone check your couch cushions, I am sure we can come up with a bid.

Homer Simpson's finally calling it quits?

Brian Flores news.

Oh boy. Buckle up.

Brian Flores is suing the New York Giants and the NFL.

Apparently Bill Belichick texted Flores contratulating him on getting the Giants HC job. The followed up with another text apologizing saying he thinks they are going with Brian Daboll instead. This was 3 days BEFORE Flores even interviewed with the Giants.

Also this:

Alex Weprin wrote:

Flores says that Stephen Ross, the owner of the Miami Dolphins, offered to pay him $100,000 for every loss during 2019 season to help the team get a better draft spot. Was mad when they kept winning.

1. Belichick knew.

2. "Thanks Bill"

I wonder if Belichick made this blow up because he texted the wrong Brian.

[[EDIT: Or because someone from the Giants told him they were hiring Brian and he thought it was Flores instead of Daboll...]]

I also wonder how much of this is motivated by Flores feeling like his reputation was tarnished by all the articles claiming he was difficult to deal with.

It was widely reported that Flores was highly regarded to be the next Giants head coach. Word was that Mara was pushing hard for him and Schoen had final say. This is per many beat reporters but just putting it out there. Whether it was true or not, we will see.

As for the Ross / Miami thing, ooofa..good luck with that Pederson, I mean Ross..

The Rooney rule is flawed to begin with.

This may end up being a big story, prompting many changes but potentially destroying his chances at coaching in the NFL ala Kaepernick.

It's a long read, but it is fairly entertaining. I am especially enjoying the sections on Kaep, Jim Caldwell, and the reverences to Plessey v. Ferguson.

Another bit from the lawsuit:

"Incredibly, this was not Mr. Flores’ first sham interview that was held only in an effort to comply with the Rooney Rule. Indeed, in 2019 Mr. Flores was scheduled to interview with the Denver Broncos. However, the Broncos’ then-General Manager, John Elway, President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Ellis and others, showed up an hour late to the interview. They looked completely disheveled, and it was obvious that they had drinking heavily the night before. It was clear from the substance of the interview that Mr. Flores was interviewed only because of the Rooney Rule, and that the Broncos never had any intention to consider him as a legitimate candidate for the job. Shortly thereafter, Vic Fangio, a white man, was hired to be the Head Coach of the Broncos."

Not a good look for the Broncos

I renounce my ranking of Miami as a HC destination as anything above Jacksonville or elsewhere. They're clearly at the bottom of the heap with a meddling owner above and beyond the typical meddling owner.

Sounds like Flores was blackballed the moment he went all Butch Coolidge and refused to take a dive.

Screw the owners and their plantation bullsh*t. Burn it to the ground and piss on the ashes.

Once again the New York Giants spoil Tom Brady's day of triumph.

Ross: "The night of the game, you may feel a slight sting. That's pride f*cking with you. F*ck pride. Pride only hurts, it never helps. In week 10, your ass goes down. Say it."

Wait. I've been offline for most of the day. Something happen to Tom Brady? Did he get in a fight with Brian Flores in Denver or something?

He officially retired.

He's the new quarterback for the Carolina Panthers. Congratulations.

Wow these guys seem to have been super prepared and have already done all their research and investigation to vehemently deny all these allegations so fast.

Giants?!?!?!

The best part of this whole thing is knowing that Belichick texts like this. I don't think I've ever heard him say anything out loud that would merit that level of emphatic punctuation.

I look forward to this coming up during the Super Bowl, where Al and Cris will throw it down to Michele Tafoya for about a minute.
