I don't know who Grimes is.

What?? You don't know who Grimes is? Pfft, let me give you a brief summary of who Grimes is all from the top of my head because I'm a huge Grimes fan!

Claire Elise Boucher (/buːˈʃeɪ/;[2] born March 17, 1988), known professionally as Grimes, is a Canadian musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer.[3][4] Her music has incorporated elements of varied styles, including dream pop, electronic, R&B, and hip hop, while touching on science fiction and feminist themes.[5] She has released five studio albums.

Born and raised in Vancouver, Grimes began releasing music independently late in the first decade of the 2000s, releasing two albums, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa, in 2010 on Arbutus Records. She subsequently signed with 4AD[6] and rose to prominence with the release of her third studio album, Visions, in 2012. Visions includes the singles "Genesis" and "Oblivion" and received the Canadian music industry Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year.[7] Following this, her fourth studio album, Art Angels, was released in 2015 and received critical praise as several publications named it the best album of the year.[8] Her fifth studio album, Miss Anthropocene, was released in 2020.[9]

Yeah nice wikipedia footnotes.

I've known who Grimes was since 2012 but I assume most other people don't or if they do it's just because she was with Elon Musk for a while. If you aren't into that sort of music I'm not surprised you've never heard of her. If you are, I can suggest some of her best (older stuff) to start with.

That’s so adorable.

Practicing ball possession for every skill level

Can't wait for the UE5 version of RL to be released and have better in game training built out.

i'm jealous

Season rewards are goal explosions with rank symbols

Ok then

I like Leth's approach to core RL content

I asked this in discord recently but got no answer and it keeps happening...

Why is the front car not going for kickoffs lately? Front, mid and back position. I'm in mid and start going for boost and instead the guy who should be doing kickoff is backflipping in front of me.

Where is this coming from? Some new secret kickoff strategy that I haven't seen the right YouTube video to understand?

Costing a lot of free goals in diamond. Plus no one saying "I got it" or "go for it" or anything. It's happening in like 30% of my games this week.

Bad players. Or purposely throwing.

Playing doubles yesterday, there was a guy on the other team getting testy, throwing the match. I reported him (he scored or assisted about 5 of our goals). Next game, he ends up on my team. I missed a cross, and he got annoyed, so he started feeding the other team balls. We went down 5-0.

And then…well, I kept working. Scored a nice goal on my own. Took advantage of a miscommunication on the kickoff. Played a bit of defense. The guy got interested again. We tied the game at 5 only to give up a goal with 17 seconds left. But, we built an attack and scored the tying goal with 0:00 on the clock. Then we won the game in OT.

I reported the guy twice. He was a jerk.

That said, that was the first time I’ve ever come back from being down 5-0. It felt pretty damned good!

I’m sure I will get Rocket League running on my Steam Deck (the Steam version not Epic) but I’m also sure I won’t actually play it on there much because I will hate learning a new controller layout and I’ll be too worried about wearing out the controls.

Surprisingly enjoyed this

We playing tonight? Feels like bottle rockets has been off the last few weeks. (Elden Ring, I know) New season, let's get some XP.

the run

the explanation

That's pretty amazing. Would be great to apply that to training packs in game. if you could have a ghost car that shows you the objectively best way to get a shot. Also would be cool to apply it to in game moments. Like take a close play from RLCS, like a missed save or shot. Start from that moment and see what the machine learning can do with it. Was the shot or save possible?

TAS is more scripting and replay combining than ML however you could apply ML on top of it by having it try many many variations and repeatedly labeling/scoring them based on how close they are to ideal. That would likely be a much much more time intensive way to get the same result but it may be more generic and applicable to other maps over time. The fun thing is how they end up finding new mechanics this way and the optimal input sequence to achieve them.

I do really wish the training packs had a ghost car showing you what to do. It would make some of those packs much more valubale if I knew exactly how I should be doing it versus me just guessing how I'm supposed to approach a challenging shot.

The back wall defense stuff, too. Like, I generally know the point of a shot is to hit the ball hard at the net, but on the defense/clearing shots I really have no idea how I am supposed to approach and clear the ball.

I usually look for a vid of someone doing the pack. I like Kevpert's pack where he goes through how he makes the clear.

I think a newer one about backboard clears
