NFL 2021: The playoffs thread

Black Monday continues: Raiders fire GM Mike Mayock.

Maybe he'll come back to TV. I always thought he was pretty smart and entertaining.

I'd like to hear him speak candidly about how many of their draft decisions were Gruden's. You all already know my "Gruden wanted everyone from the 2019 national championship game" theory. I want to hear Mayock say, "Alex f**king Leatherwood? Are you kidding me?".

Agreed.

It won't happen though, Mayock doesn't seem the type.

The Rock on Manning Cast tonight. I can't believe there's a playoff Manning Cast

I know what everyone has been waiting for... the guest list for Manningcast tonight!

Larry Fitzgerald
The Rock
Russell Wilson

Does this mean Russell Wilson will lose his first game next season, whoever he plays with?

Christian Kirk needed to lay out for that.

lol, Peyton just tried to pass it over to Eli for a "breakdown" of Odell's TD catch and then you hear Eli saying "I can't hear sh*t"

Edit: meant to say it was Peyton that said it, not Eli.

If that second throw was a forward pass, it went forward less than 1 yard. Not sure that deserved the flag.

Disappointed there was no challenge.

But it was technically forward.. even if only a foot. No way it would have been overturned.

I think a pass should have to travel forward 1 yard to be considered forward. That's a rule emphasis tweak I would fight for.

Cam Akers is the anti-Lev Bell. He has one speed: pedal to metal.

Michel almost-TD run showed him running like Lev Bell.

Nice combo between the two.

5 minutes to discuss the call, get it wrong, then another 5 minutes to review on challenge to overturn... snoozefest

I hope the NFL fixes the playoffs. This has been a sad, sad weekend.

Fix the playoffs how? Skipping straight to the divisional round? I guess maybe that's not such a bad idea...

I wonder what this means for Rich Bisaccia's chances of becoming head coach.

Not letting half the league in the playoffs.

I can't wait for all the "What the f*ck is a Moon Knight" reactions at halftime. Of which it'll be three, because non-Moon Knight, non-Rams fans would have tuned out already.

So I haven’t watched any of these Manning casts …. is Eli wearing the gold chain a bit or what?

Nothing good, I would think. But Peter King seems to think the odds are in his favor to stay.

If they think he's the guy, and are committing to him and letting him help pick the GM, that would be a huge vote of confidence.

If they keep him but hire a GM separate from his input, then he's probably a seat warmer until the GM gets established and finds his own candidate.

I think that's the chain Snoop Dogg gave him on an earlier ManningCast.

Speaking of embarrassing (and assuming the Cards continue to humiliate themselves on national teevee tonight), what's the over/under on Kliff getting fired in the early hours of Tuesday?

It's Batman, but Marvel.

What's wrong with Kyler?

Jimmy Garoppolo sprained his throwing shoulder in the 2nd quarter of the game on Sunday.

He's expected to be able to practice this week, but that probably helps explain why his passing game fell off a cliff in the 2nd half.

Of course, isn't that always the story for Jimmy?

I imagine the team is going to put a little extra work into their Trey Lance package this week.

Man, if Trey Lance came in and pulled the kind of QB runs at Lambeau that Colin Kaepernick did...

I assumed his chance of staying was low and now 0% without a GM. The players may like him, but Mark Davis isn't the type to keep a guy because the players like someone. They're gonna try and bring in another hot name, I bet. Maybe Eli and Peyton Manning as GM and HC? Lololol

I'm hoping that's 100%. He's holding this team back, but so is the OL.

The league has figured him out, right?

Aaron Donald does that to folks.

Kyler hasn't been the same since his injury this season.

Maybe Trey should have played in the second half yesterday. A couple of first downs and a FG would have ended the game much sooner

I hope Jimmy G is able to get that fixed before he starts the 2022 season opener for the Panthers. The last Panthers QB with a bum shoulder is the reason why Matt Rhule and Sam Darnold live in Charlotte these days.
