Hidden Gems of Disney + instant videos

I just watched Raising Arizona. I do enjoy a good Coen brothers movie but I feel like I’m picking the least Disney movies and shows on the Disney channel. Probably a sign that I should drop my subscription for a while (which I am doing.)

Blast, must be a regional variant, I'm not finding Legion on Disney+. Just checked. Pity, we saw the first season, never got to watch the others.

They are super, super weird. I enjoyed them, but they are not for everyone.

I believe Legion is available on Hulu - at least in America. That's how I watched it.

As someone who dislikes most superhero stuff (although to be fair I also enjoyed the X-Men titles specifically), I really enjoyed Legion because at least they tried to do something unique with it.

That said, it deteriorates as it goes. First season is brilliant, second season is good, third season is just okay and has a piss poor conclusion as far as I'm concerned. Still worth watching the whole arc though.

Started watching X-Men the animated series last night with our 8yo. Blast from the past. VCRs! Malls! Elected officials wanting to stomp out the "other"!

Wait...

I finished all of it a few months ago and am 3/4 of the way through Spider-Man now

He and his sister are nearly done with Spidey. Those later Spidey episodes are bonkers!

I've been watching Spider-Man, too, and last night got to the episode with Blade. Let's just say Blade looked a bit... different than I expected.

"Better wake up!"

I just did the Venom Carnage Iron Man War Machine crossover this week. Holy crap.

And somehow I did not know that there were 2 seasons of Iron Man cartoon with those same voice actors at the time. Didn't realize that one was a crossover like the X-Men episodes with Spidey.

Always thought it was a one off like Daredevil and Blade

That's the origin story for Carnage, right? With Dormommu or something? Wild stuff!

Oh yeah that's like the 3rd ep with him. Doctor Strange in this show early on guest spot too. And Mordo in a bunch. Should have remembered he was a bad guy when I saw the Strange movie, but it had been a while.

Free Guy (that Ryan Reynolds movie about a video game NPC) is now available to stream via Disney+. I haven't seen it yet, but the reviews seem decent. As an added bonus, it was filmed (at least partially) near where I work, so it'll be kinda nifty to see those areas on the little-big screen.

My wife and I definitely liked it.

I enjoyed it a lot. Could have done without the bits with the real life streamers, though.

Free Guy was indeed quite a cute movie. Almost like an inverted Matrix. I didn't realize (though I really should have) that it was going to turn into a bona fide RomCom.

And yeah, my office building was delightfully visible in one scene, so that's cool too.

We also enjoyed Free Guy.

The quote that resonated with my wife and I - "You're 22, living in my house, there is no God!"

I got surprise chills during the fight with the Big Bad when he started pulling out power-ups. You know which ones.

Just logged in for the first time in a few days and I had to pick my access level for adult material. Must be because the Daredevil stuff is on there now.

Finally saw Encanto, and I'm not crying, you're crying!

Also, I'm crying like a baby. Gotta blow my nose again.

Hug your family for me.

The Bruno song gets all the love, but I have to say that the Waiting For a Miracle song has to be the most powerful Disney "want" song ever written.

The Boss really loved the Luisa song about being under pressure, but the family one at the end really got me.

The "but wait..." part of Surface Pressure is usually the point where I start tearing up. I have to watch Dos Oruguitas while hugging my dog.

Let's just all agree that Encanto is a f'n masterpiece, inclusive of every song in the album.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers or Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2 is great. Lots of surprises in animation. Loaded down in cameos.

The only problem I had with it was it was very lite on the rescue rangers. I wanted all the rangers to be the focus but it was only chip and dale that got screen time. If you haven't watched the original series I doubt you will be able to name all of the other rangers by the end of the movie.

I loved it. Loved. 99% of the jokes and references hit me square in the face.

Of course I can! Let's see...Monterey Jack... the Fly... and good old whatshername, the one I keep seeing disturbing pictures of when I do my usual Google search for erotic Inspector Gadget fanfiction.

This is not an exaggeration in the slightest. This movie is the heir to Roger Rabbit, both in the premise that cartoon characters exist in the real world and in how multiple franchises from competing companies can show up in a Disney film. It's literally the film that I never thought could be made today with all the money involved.

Totally agreed. I fired it up last night expecting to be disappointed, and ended up delighted. It’s definitely more Roger Rabbit than Rescue Rangers; maybe they’ll consider making a proper Rescue Rangers reboot now?

The new voices really threw me though.
