Maybe they have carrots!

Don't be silly.

I did find beets last night though, for those as want them.

I went to a couple villages awhile back and found zero potatoes. I'm down in a giant cave trying to lightit all up at --30 or something and I finally got one potato by killing a zombie.

I have potatoes rolling too.

Also, I have to ask: who made their base under the pillager outpost? I actually found the underwater entrance and had a look around. Neat place!

That’s me, it’s not remotely finished yet. It’s slow-going because I have to take a break from digging every couple of minutes to fight off a wave of pillagers.

If anyone needs a crossbow hit me up- I’ve been burning them for fuel.

I also have potatoes.

I now have wheat, potatoes, carrots (new!), beets, sugar, melons, pumpkins, cocoa and nether wart.

For trees, I have oak, acacia, jungle, birch and azalea (new!).

My group is not too far from you. Maybe we can build a rail line between us.

Ahh, I remember the old days of building massive rail lines to connect to bases all over the overworld.

Before the dark times. Before the empire.

I'm constantly amazed by the latest version of Minecraft and the new world generation. It's almost like this is Minecraft 2.0.

I found a large lush cave system in the desert that had a large portion open to the surface. Going inside I find an abandoned mineshaft with a cave spider spawner out in the open in the lush cave. It was easy to convert that to an XP farm- nothing to dig out except the wood planks it was lying on.

Then I went to explore the cave system in the other direction and it opened up to a HUGE cavern, leading down to the bottom of the world- it was an amazing sight.

I do think that is cool BUT I also wished they would include some of the mod features to make the game a bit more adventurous.

Is there any sort of trick to crops growing when you aren't near them now a days? Just seems like I should not have to AFK near crops for them to grow.

I don't think there's been any change. The chunk has to be loaded and I think at least one player must be in the dimension. In general that means either someone has to be near it or it has to be in the spawn chunks. That's why we often build things like iron farms close to spawn.

Yeah, the only thing to do is plant large farms to get over the fact that they grow slowly.

There's a working skeleton farm at our jungle base, inside the blue and white present. (It's a gift for DuckLucy, who needs bones to make bone meal, so she can turn the whole world into moss and azaleas).

There's now a blaze farm at the nether fortress. Just follow the signs.

There's instructions at the farm, for anyone who hasn't used one before. The XP can be used for enchanting items, applying enchanted books to items, or repairing items with the Mending enchantment.

I've got a good set of villagers for gearing up at our jungle base.

Master armorsmith, master weaponsmith and master toolsmith all present.

Librarians with: Mending, Unbreaking III, Looting III, Sharpness V, Efficiency V, Infinity.

There's also a Wheat/Potatoes/Melons/Pumpkin farmer and a mason who buys clay and (smooth) stone.

Also: ender dragon, anyone?

I'm up for Elder Dragon just about any time this week. Have you found the portal?

I have not, but I can look into it tonight.

Okay, found the stronghold and set a portal. Haven't found the End Portal within the stronghold yet. Ran out of time and torches.

Both the OW and nether sides of the portal are marked on the webmap.

Hey folks; hoping I can get some help troubleshooting. The internet is not being helpful, largely because I can't figure out search terms that return results less than 6 years old/for versions after about 1.15. This problem is with the Java version.

Now that my kids are old enough, I'm trying to keep my saved games in a DropBox folder so that they can load up a world regardless of which device they're playing on. I have moved existing worlds into a DropBox folder and pointed the Game Directory (under Installations) to said DropBox folder. I can see all of the worlds when I go to open a Single-Player Game, and can open and play in them on both my Windows Desktop and my Mac Laptop.

The problem is that when I build something on my Mac and save, and then open up that same world on my PC, the build hasn't taken place. It's opening the world fine, just showing an older state of the game. Not a state where nothing has been built - just not the most recent building. I can't honestly remember if the buildings that are visible on the PC were built on PC or not; I *think* everything was done on the Mac.

As far as I can tell, the sync to DropBox and to the PC HD is working fine.

I have not yet tested it the other way - building something on PC and seeing if it's reflected on the Mac. That's the next job.

An older how-to suggested that there were differences in the minecraft/bin folder between Mac and PCs that could be overcome by making sure that both the Mac and PC .dll files (which are different) were on both computers. But the subfolder where these dlls are located does not seem to exist in 1.18. The files are repeated through various subfolders with hexadecimal names, and I think each of those folders corresponds to a world.

Oh, also, if it matters, I'm not using the most recent launcher because I can't get the damned thing to download from the Windows Store without an error.

It wasn't Minecraft related but I stopped using Dropbox because of a similar issue with it not syncing certain files. I had a folder that it would not keep in sync and the only way to fix it was to delete it from all my devices and the cloud and then re-add it to the folder and then it would start syncing again for a week or so. If I remember right it was source code files for a project I was working on in Unity. I switched to Google Drive and OneDrive (OneDrive is work approved) and haven't had the issue since.

I don't think I've ever seen a library completely stripped of books like that before!

I left the second library!

Lucy was actually upset with me for stripping it. She thinks they look cool, and that I ruined it. But, when we got back to base, she stole a bunch of the bookshelves to decorate with. Bloody hypocrite.

Anyway, despite entering the stronghold almost on top of the portal, it actually took me a couple hours to find it. This is the second one in a row where the stronghold has been disjoint and required digging to get to the portal.

To be fair, the usual method of protecting our sacred portal with traps and monsters hasn't kept the library-desecrating invaders from murdering our endangered wildlife and looting our villages.

There's now a path in the nether leading from the public portal to the stronghold portal.
