A thread for updates on the various ways the internet is destroying everything and the undying hellsites of social media. Let's all laugh at the abyss.
They did it because they want meta world peace to be their spokesperson.
It is the only logical reason!
RE: This weekend's tragedy at Travis Scott's "Astroworld" festival
So, I've been following some of this stuff for work, and I gotta say, holy sh*t, a surprisingly large number of people are apparently buying that this entire thing was a demonic sacrifice?
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died.

It's a common thing in really unhinged conspiracy theories to try and make everything going on a part of the conspiracy theory. Like when Ever Given was stuck in the Suez Canal, suddenly that became part of QAnon. They claimed the ship was full of bodies of dead kids or kids being trafficked or whatever crazy sh*t they settled on that day. And really, this was primed by Q because his posts did this often: make reference to something going on in the world and imply it was connected to the "Deep State" without ever explaining how.
The "boogeymen out to kidnap all of our children" part, however, is a much simpler, easier sell, and as I said, it's Q-lite. And you can get fairly broad agreement on that from all walks of people, because who is going to say "Well actually" to "Child sex trafficking is bad and we should stop it"?
Matt Gaetz? Jim Jordan? Roy Moore?
TikTok has been ON FIRE regarding Astroworld since it happened, and man - I sort of buy the demon sacrifice rumors. I saw Scott’s eyes when he looked at that dead body being wheeled out. They were dancing with glee. The man needs to be held accountable.
This some straight-up Black Mirror stuff.
OMG who could have guessed?
Oh, right, f*cking everyone except the cops.
Oh, the Qunatics will do anything, but one of the things I've noticed that IS really concerning is how much Q-lite stuff has seeped into the mainstream.
For instance, every few weeks, there'll be a really big viral story about a big roundup of sex traffickers and finding their victims. But those stories are often misleading.
Sex trafficking is an issue, but, somewhat unsurprisingly if you actually care about this kind of stuff, a fairly complicated and difficult-to-define one.

Interesting video from last year on this very topic.
And it's not even the song that goes viral. It's 10-20 seconds with a catchy line or hook.
I almost missed the anniversary because I’ve been too busy this month to keep up with wingnut internet, but as of yesterday it’s officially been one year since the last Q drop.
Qanon has shrunk a little in Q’s absence but IMO it’s only gotten more dangerous and is starting to spin off subcults.
Toyota Made Its Key Fob Remote Start Into a Subscription Service
Remember when BMW wanted to charge drivers to use Apple CarPlay? How about the subscription required for the Mercedes EQS's rear-wheel steering functionality in Europe? It turns out that luxury marques aren't the only ones looking to cash in on that sweet, sweet software as a service cash: Toyota has been testing the waters by making the remote start functionality on your proximity key fob part of a larger connected services subscription.Yes, it appears the pay-to-play ethos that's spreading around the industry has reached the world's largest automaker. A Toyota spokesperson confirmed to The Drive that if a 2018 or later Toyota is equipped with Toyota's Remote Connect functions, the vehicle must be enrolled in a valid subscription (whether it be a free trial period or otherwise) in order for the key fob to start the car. It's become more common in recent years for automakers to charge for apps that allow drivers to monitor, lock, or start their cars with their smartphones. But as far as we can tell, Toyota's the first company to charge for full use of your physical key fob—either $8 a month or $80 a year at the Remote Connect plan's current price.
F**************************************CK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
My cousin has been working at Toyota for over a decade, giving trainings within EMEA on how to repair/maintain the latest technologies at the company. He's been telling me how his colleagues are being pushed out, and that Toyota has been transforming from a technology-first to a sales-first company recently. So this here is not surprising.
From a WaPo article:
“They’re looking for hope,” he said.
A documentary I watched suggested that it's not "hope" they are looking for, but an explanation for all the awfulness going on in the world, that seems like an intentional plan and doesn't blame themselves. They have to believe there is a reason for things, no matter how dumb it is, rather than chaos.

Agree. I would also assert that having a doctorate doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not dumb af. Another perfectly plausible narrative is that people with higher degrees overestimate their own abilities in fields they’re not trained in, including propaganda. Having an advanced degree in engineering means f*ckall in determining whether #SaveTheChildren is a grift or lunacy.
And like you said, I absolutely deny that it’s hope that Qultists are looking for. It’s a scapegoat they want.
Edit - it also doesn’t hurt that they’re right when it came to secret societies of child sex traffickers. Both the Catholic Church and a surprising portion of capitalists are running their own child sex slave cartels.

We bought our 2020 Highlander in the summer of 2020, and this was never mentioned to us.

As someone with a PhD, and who works with many, many PhDs, a hell of a lot of them are very knowledgeable about their given field and are also dumb as hell in every other part of life.

That's the entire point of a PhD. By definition, they're specialists, not generalists.
