NCAA Basketball 21-22 Catch-All

Wow Cards crushed Miss St. Led by as many as 28. Game was over in the first 8 minutes. Whew. Maybe we are good?

Let's see about the Bahamas finals on Sat against Maryland.

Dayton beats Kansas at the buzzer! Glad I caught the last few minutes.

This Duke/Gonzaga game has been a much better contest than the earlier UCLA one. No matter which team wins, I can tell Duke is going to be A Problem in conference play.

Louisville are Bahamas Champions! Beating Miss St and Maryland, not too shabby.

Cards rebounded the hell out of the ball the last two games, and great things happened. Really impressed with this team's turnaround after crazy Furman home loss. Think there is hope for this season after all.

And down goes Duke. That wasn't even a full week at #1.

ACC not looking so great in the Big 10/ACC challenge this year.

Yeah we gonna lose the challenge. But UVA and Duke losing is great. So screw it.

Down 6-2 with 6 to play. Looks like only 1 ACC favorite tomorrow (NCSU > Nebraska) and 1 toss-up (VT-Maryland. So without some upsets it's over.

The key takeaways from the Duke game were: they have difficulties dealing with foul trouble, and slow offense / drive n kick can work against them.

We had bad luck with the loss of two starters, but mostly the combination of Perdue being the real deal and we need to get a lot better after losing so much talent last year. I am hopeful that Coach Ham can get these guys together by the end of the season

O-H!

Spoiler:

I-O!!!

Jimmy V speech at 7 tonight for the games at 715.

I guess it's not as big a deal the last decade or so since you could watch it in YouTube on your phone anytime. But it used to be a big one a year thing 20 years ago

Well that sucked. Mich St over 60% from 3, not much chance to win for the Cards.

NCSU and Nebraska in triple overtime!

FOUR overtimes. Wolfpack survives by 4.

I watched a couple of those, just a bonkers game. 4 players ejected, several more fouled out.

I wasn't sure it would go to a 4th, but it did. Both teams were totally gassed by that point, and I think attrition just became too much to overcome.

UNC looked flat in the first half, but came out swinging in the second. Much better than the last couple of games.

Holy crap Cal won its conference opener! Not that I think it means anything... we have been dead last in the conference 3 of the last 4 seasons and we're picked to be last this year as well, and no reason to think the pundits are wrong.

Be careful all you ACC fans here... if I actually start caring about Cal hoops I may need to bring my anti-SEC-"I'm good cuz" football gaze here soon.

Cards survive second half collapse at NCSU. Up 14 at half, lost the lead, got it back, win by 5. 1-0 in conference play, will take it

Alabama blitzes Gonzaga. Waaaay too accurate from 3. After all the early hype, the Zags seem to be missing something in their game.

It's early in the season still, so these losses might help them solidify the weakest areas. Still I have to say, they don't look much like the team that just destroyed UCLA earlier.

Well, UCLA was an 11 seed. I know they had a great run last March but I'm not sure they're a great team.

That's fair, I suppose a lot of their ranking is fueled by last year's crazy final 4 run. Most of that team came back, but it remains to be seen if they are really the team from that run or just riding high on fumes

Tennessee had a mediocre game at Colorado, yet still wins by 15. Threes weren't falling, missing free throws like crazy, etc. Kennedy Chandler is a rare point guard talent. And the Defense is starting to look more like a Barnes D.

Texas Tech is next in NYC next week.

Another road game with an effort deficit in the first half. Thankfully, they showed up to play in the second and made a concerted push to close out strong.

I have to ask tho, that (missed) shot by Devoe at the end of the first half... Seems like unsportsmanlike conduct to me. Made a good move to get open, but then the stare-down and shoot? Wasn't impressed.

Wow, this Texas tech/Tennessee game is just kinda gross. I haven't seen many nights of worse shooting.

As a UT fan, that was horrible. HORRIBLE.

And after a pretty decent game at Colorado.

But at least the D looked good. For both teams.

I wondered if they'd pull it out when they tied with a three, but OT was not a good look.

That JJJ steal to wide open missed dunk to points on the other end for a four point swing sealed our fate IMO.

Down goes #1 Purdue at the buzzer.

Video on twitter

Notre Dame takes down #10 Kentucky and GT falls to LSU after having a small lead at the half.

UNC gets another decent second half to put away a scrappy Elon team and extend a win streak to 4 games.

Houston and Alabama are in a dogfight with 3 min to go

UNC handles an irritating Furman squad that didn't seem to want to miss in the first half, but cooled off in the second. Still see a bit more sloppy play than I'd like, but I'll take the win.

Alabama in another fight, this time with a Memphis team that's lost their last 4.

Yeah that Furman team beat Louisville. Ugh.

We rolled Southeast somebody tonight by 30.

Duke blew out South Carolina State, and Wake survives at home against VMI. I think Clemson also won.

Alabama down 12 with 4 min to go.... They look nothing like the team that beat Gonzaga and Houston. Memphis' older guys playing well together. They looked better without Emmoni Bates than with him.

I watched the end of that Alabama v Memphis game since UT plays Memphis in Nashville this weekend. I'd felt pretty strong about UT's chances before that game, but from what I saw over the last five minutes, I still give UT a slight advantage, assuming we can shoot like an average night (not not like vs Texas Tech). Memphis just looked like they played like a high level AAU team over the end of the game. Not playing that well as a unit, but having some flashy plays.

Tennessee's defense is much better than I expected with this squad. Barnes has done his thing, and since that Villanova loss, our D's been much better. Something like 5th in the country in a very incomplete resume of games. #1 in KenPom defense. Don't think they're really that good, but they've played some decent teams so far and still have that number, so at least they don't suck.

We'll see. Less comfortable than I was two days ago. Maybe I'm too optimistic. Penny Hardaway is not a favorite of the UT fanbase after the BS a few years ago between him and Rick Barnes.
