Inscryption- Deck builder + escape room + hidden delights + demo availble

Regarding the ending karma...

Spoiler:

I sort of agree with you. I dislike how the GamFuna employee kills Luke. It felt too easy of an ending, and I also dislike how there are hints about an ARG and meta-lore from previous titles that you need to have to fully understand what GameFuna is and that they are evil.

Overall though, a minor quibble in an otherwise fantastic game. Watching a Let's Play does not do it justice.

OK, I just moved this way up on my wishlist - gonna purchase it soon as all the sales get going. Although with it releasing recently I don't really expect much of a discount but I'll probably get in anyway.

I snagged this out of the Steam fall sale after listening to the spoiler section. So I haven't gone in totally cold but ... without context that spoiler section made NO sense. It's definitely a unique experience.

The actual card game in the cabin actually reminds me a lot of Hand of Fate, with the opponent taking on the role of narrator. As for other sections of the game...

Spoiler:

I really liked the "multicolor" decks I could build in the pixel art section.

I appreciate that the achievments are *all* named after Magic: the Gathering cards.

And the second "escape room" area against PO3 is more fun than the initial one gainst Leshy. I really am enjoying the bot deck mechanics.

As for the videos, the last section I've seen is the YouTuber guy worried about a break-in and laughing as he puts dice on a scale. I am definitely looking forward to more of this!

Had of Fate is another underrated game IMO. Eventually a patch came out that made the arcade fighting portion easy so you could focus on the deck story portion.

I never finished Hand of Fate, but I certainly enjoyed my time with it.

I've played a little bit of the sequel and enjoyed that, too. It's a shame the devs shut down.

Just finished it.

Wow, that was an experience. I'd put that up there with Gone Home.

I picked this up after hearing it discussed on the Waypoint podcast. As someone who enjoys deckbuilding roguelikes and escape room puzzles, this is scratching a lot of itches. The extra narratives layer(s) are really fun also.

I'm in the

Spoiler:

Botopia portion of the game

and enjoying that quite a bit. No idea where the story will ultimately end up going, but I am very very down with it thus far.

I also picked this up and started playing last night, after finishing the demo a couple of weeks ago. I'm a bit sad that the full game didn't import my demo progress, but whatever. It's probably for the best, since I cheated a bit during the demo by googling the numeric solution to one of the puzzles in the room.

That was my favorite part of the game from a mechanical perspective, though the one just before it was a very close second.

OK, I think I haven't been paying enough attention to things in the game...

Spoiler:

I just beat the boss for the first time and it's obvious I'm not 'done' yet because I'm still in the cabin. I figure the point is to get out of the cabin, which I thought maybe I could do once I beat the final boss.

Soooo, how close am I after beating the boss one time? There is stuff I probably haven't done in the cabin, but I'm not sure what. think I did all the sliding card puzzles, I got the ring, the knife, opened the combination, maybe other stuff too.

I'm curious, how obvious is what I need to do to progress and is there still a bunch left? I probably have played 10-12 hours maybe? Hard to tell because i've left it up and running quite a bit.

I enjoy the card game quite a bit, but it is starting to feel a bit repetitive. It is cool how powerful the card are you can build at the end when you die.

I did the same - don't worry, the game will make it clear what to do next before long. Play another run.

OK, thanks

OK I got

Spoiler:

the eyeball and saw the message about the clock offering salvation. I was anxious to see what was up so I lost my game on purpose, but there was nothing about the clock that was different. Do I need to win my game after getting the eye for the clock to look different?

Spoiler:

slightly cryptic clue - my guess is you weren't looking at the clock THROUGH the eye

I just won my match and still couldn't

Spoiler:

see anything with the clock even after getting the eye. Once it went to the new game and I realized he said he's been stringing up the winners - so I no longer have the eye after I win. I then remembered that I could step away from the table during a match. So I figure I need to use the knife, select the eye, then push away from the table and see what's up with the clock. That also is consistent with the clue you just gave too.

That is exactly what you need to do, yes.

After liking that first part quite a bit, I'm not so fond of the next part. At least it's been easy so I can just power through and hopefully get to something I like.

The game sags a little in act 2 but it ends strong. I liked the 3 act the most

I'll keep on going then. I have one more 'section' to do.

I was starting to get a bit worn out on act 1 from dying to bosses that seemed unkillable a few times. Then I lucked(?) into a stupidly powerful deck setup and steamrolled through the end, basically without any trouble at all. It kinda makes me wonder whether I'm playing the game, or is the game playing me.

Spoiler: Act 1 through final boss spoilers

I had lucked into getting a totem very early on in the run that caused all squirrels to give 3 bloods when sacrificed, which made it super easy to play all of my cards. Heading into the final fight, I claimed the boon that let me draw 2 cards per turn, which was super useful. And finally, against the moon, I felt super smart for playing a card that had the skunk effect, which reduced the moon's 1 attack down to zero, and therefore the boss couldn't hurt me any more - there was even a fun piece of dialogue about it.

LOL Had just about the same experience:

Spoiler:

I had the squirrel 3 blood totem, draw two cards, and then also a boon that whenever I drew a card I could look at all of my cards. I had three grizzlies that were upgraded a couple of times, then a death card I named Beefy that had 7 attack which I fused with a Mantis God right before so it had the three directional attack. The moon was dead in two turns

I've really only poked around in Act 2 so far, but I've meaning to go back to it and wrap it up.

Act 1 boss spoilers

Spoiler:

I accidentally killed the moon on turn 2 cos one of my beasts had poison

It seems like (in Act I at least) the game wants you to get to the point to kick it's butt. There are so many ways to get powerful - and it's fun getting there!

Avoiding spoilers, but curiosity piqued. Went looking in to how to buy it, went to their website... seems like there are some Easter Eggs there. Not at all difficult to find, so I'll leave that to you, just wanted to note it might be worth looking at if you enjoyed the game. I'm sure I'll get more out of them if/when I have a chance to play the game.

Shoot, missed the Steam sale. I'll grab it next time it goes on sale, too much to play right now.

I made it through to the end - it had it's ups and downs. I thought the first act was pretty great. I didn't like the second at all, and the 3rd started off slow and went a bit too long but as a whole I liked it. It really was a very creative way to present a deck builder and give lots of kudos for that.

I really enjoyed act 2; I'd happily play a whole game of just that. Being able to mix and match like that act allowed was fun.

Act 1 was the high point for me. Loved the aesthetic.

Yeah, that was quite good. I enjoyed the mechanics of 2 and 3 more, though.

Finished! It's what I wanted out of it.
