Painting Miniatures

Can't say I've seen that happen to me and I use Chrome on both my Pixel and on my pc.

Learned a valuable lesson today. When one of your paint bottles has some dried paint blocking the drip nipple (is there a better phase?) do not squeeze until pressure pushes through the blockage. Bad things can happen.

Defo don't do this with Vallejo brush on varnish... Sploosh.

MORE ORK

Yes!

Edit: and my link is dead.

MORE ORK

That's a lovely Ork skin tone.

Am still working on my Blood Bowl team despite having my sixth match of the season lined up this evening. Loving this game at the minute and am top of the league I think things will change this evening Vs a Snotling team, they're hiring a Giant!

A few more of the Stirland Sure Shots....

Just the ogre and a couple subs to go.

That looks amazing! Did you use contrast paints? I'm really impressed how much contrast you achieved using mostly greens.

Also, I forgot to post the finished model!

Once I've finished the remainder of my Death Guard, I'd like to get some minis to help me learn to paint a little cleaner. Painting Chaos and Orks has sorta left me with some bad habits. I'm thinking a few T'au, or some more cheap Space Marines

Thanks, no contrast on the green. Just three very different greens for base coat. Death Guard and then Vallejo Flat and Lime. Then the citadel green wash, then pick out bits with base coat again. I am starting to sparingly use some contrasts though, mostly browns, but using them as a thick wash over base coats. So eg. The boots here are vallejo burnt red base with snakebite leather contrast over the top, this kind of thing I like and looks rich. The ball here is a blended snakebite + darker brown contrast over a grey/white. I don't really like the look of contrast over a plain primed mini, to me they look a bit wishy washy some of the time. Edit... At least when I tried. With highlights and some texture over the top though could see working well, might have to try sometime.

I do love that Ork!

Haha, good timing!

I know exactly what you mean with the contrast over white basecoat looking wishy washy. I've started using them more over a coloured basecoat, and very thinned down. That ork flesh was the new Orruk Flesh (light green) base, with a thinned down Ork Flesh contrast slapped over the top.

I actually used the same Ork Flesh as a basecoat for the Squig I painted tonight (below), but layered over a lot of brighter greens after. I found I had to go pretty heavy on the contrast for it to pick up the colour, but it stained the whole model nicely. I think a regular dark green base would have done the same job, though.

Hey, me too! Undefeated going into week 6, but yet to face the second and third place teams, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

I'm actually getting ready to start a Nurgle team from a patreon that provides STL files; I've been doing a lot of watching to see how to get the right skin tone. Anyone have any suggestions or links to helpful videos?

(If you're curious, this is the first chunk of the team.)

Cool, hope your run continues!

The Punga team, they look really nice. I've been really lucky this week, I won their Kickstarter raffle and so will be getting the new Punga Norse team delivered for free next August! My team sorted for that season.

Next season... I just can't decide!

Great minds on the constrast!

Edit. Love the Squig. My son is just finishing painting one and I am jealous of the 10 yr old eyes. He got the critters tiny eyeballs spot on.

Here you go look at the state of those peepers!

His mum couldn't even see them

I envy those steady hands. Such small eyes!

I am always aspiring to get back into painting minis, but time is fleetingly scarce/precious, and I don’t want to do a poor job on some of these amazing minis that are popping up in all kinds of games these days. That’s why I’m excited about the Army Painter Speed Paint line they’re coming out with in 2022. Watching videos/examples of some painters they sent samples, What they are doing with just two or three colors is amazing.

Painting lots of squigs.

I just think they're neat!

The plan is to build up about 500pts of squigy goodness for some local AoS games. I'd love them to be ALL sorts of colours. I'm having SO much fun painting these vibrant and silly minis.

Probably the most fun I've had since starting the hobby

Thoseare very neat! Eyeballs!

I want GW to release a Blood Bowl squig team.

Would the squigs be the players all the ball(s)?

A_Unicycle wrote:

There are rules for squig balls!

Plus I think there is an unofficial team , the players are goblin squig riders I believe.

Sounds fun. Come on GW!

Squig Team Roster from FUMBBL. Yes, very unofficial. But playable!

Not the best pic, but I've really been enjoying learning how to paint greenskins. I think I'm happy enough with this recipe!

I'll post a full family photo when they're all finished

Ha! That's a good mini. And a nice paint job.

Here's the full herd (+1 extra) that I finally finished off tonight.

IMAGE(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FGFC7dtUYAE93Q_?format=jpg&name=large)

And another attempt at dual colour squigs. I started with a straight purple base and worked up to red. I might end up using this technique on my mangler squig when it arrives in the mail!

Finally got my hands on the B I G one. Some bits I love and other bits I want to do better next time. Definitely learned a thing or two about painting flesh with many layers of glazing.

The goblins sitting on top are a bit wonky because I should have painted them separately but got too eager to see the model fully assembled

No one's looking at the goblins anyway.

Been working on some Blood Bowl guys over the past little while. Slowly and carefully. I’ve been pushing myself in shading and highlighting a bit.

Getting my painting mojo back Hoping to finish my pile of shame before I buy any more.

Spoiler:

I feel like we've all said that at some point lol!

My Nan passed 3 years ago today. She was the living embodiment of Granny Weatherwax.
She was born on the 31st of March and died on the 2nd of April, she was never a fool.
I painted this up today in her honour.
