Marvel Media (Spoiler Thread)

It's a good joke, but I don't think it applies to Loki.

Sylvie was a fun character, but I don't think she overtook Loki in appeal, and as far as I know Hiddleston has no plans on retiring from the role and he has season 2 coming.

100% the case for Black Widow though.

Probably Hawkeye too whether Renner wants to continue on or not...

She definitely didn't overtake Loki in audience appeal, just in plot relevance. From the moment she showed up on screen, she was the one driving the plot forward and the titular character was reduced to a bit of a hanger on to her story.

Besides, everyone knows gater Loki was the main character.

Just like Pizza Dog is the main character in Hawkeye

Did this somehow not get posted, or did I just miss it?

They've got a way out of having him around for season 2 if they want based on the comic.

Yep.

So, I started watching Hit Monkey. Expectations were a bit low after MODOK and the premise is bananas (not even a little sorry) but my wife and I are loving it 5 episodes in.

10 minutes in and Shangi-Chi's action is already the best in all of the MCU.

Edit: 20 minutes in (bus scene) and it's the best MCU movie this side of Iron Man.

It's sooooo good.

The bus fight scene is the best non-super fight (really overall fight) in the MCU. But I grew up loving Jackie Chan movies and I think there is some lineage there with the choreographer.

Here a video featuring two of the action designers of the film. They talk a bit about the many influences in the action sequences.

Sony confirms this won't be the last Spider-Man-Marvel movie. Just the last of the current trilogy. Seems there will be at least three more. Not sure how that lines up with the ending of the last Venom movie and if that means he'll hop back and forth, or if they'll merge somehow.

"This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie," Pascal revealed. "We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We're thinking of this as three films, and now we're going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies."

Spoiler some version of Peter Parker as played by Tom Holland survives No Way Home? I'm shocked

Watched Hawkeye last night; bit of a slow burn so far, but the Clint/Kate dynamic is the standout so far as expected. She is far more capable in the comics and essentially stops Kang herself, and is very much the Token Human Badass of the original Young Avengers, but I'm rather liking her stumbling idiocy.

It's not great so far, but, well, the first two episodes of WandaVision weren't great either. As a massive fan of the Hawkeye run this is based on, I'm feeling pretty good about it.

They reversed things from the comics. He was the single guy making questionable choices and she was the younger but more rational version of Hawkeye in the comics. Since the Young Avengers don't exist yet and he's a more mature, married with kids Hawkeye, they made him more of a mentor here it seems.

It feels much more like a deliberate attempt to pander to the time of year as well - not just a marvel tale set at Christmas, but one that's trying to incorporate all it's messaged into whatever story it's weaving. Given everything you assume is going to happen - just who is the leader of those Russian gangsters I wonder? - it might has well have Vin Diesel cropping up saying "family" at some point towards the end of the series.

however, as has been mentioned, Hailee Steinfeld and Jeremy Renner play really well off each other and certainly give the show the heart it needs.

So far so good.

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME "Happy Needs His Sleep"

Hawkeye:

Apparently we got a Kingpin appearance (voice).

Car chase was great. Pym arrow!

We're halfway done with the series already? Gah. We know Yelena Belova has to show up soon, right? We still have to figure out what Mom and Swordsman are up to.

Spoilers:

Spoiler:

Who does the voice?

Supposedly Kingpin will again be Vincent D’Onofrio. Just a chuckle heard so far and a mention of her "uncle", who's a big guy that picks her up in her flashback. Pinches her cheek.

Wasn't verified as a Kingpin voice, but certainly was a strong implication.

Halfway through? Dammit, I thought it was eight episodes, not six. Episode 3 was pretty great with a solid fight scene and a just great car chase, and I want more than just three more. Awwww.

Spoiler:

I am really liking the relationship between Clint and Kate. The meal at the diner where he described his role was really, really good.

Also the discussion on who killed Ronin.

I'm sad they didn't include a boomerang arrow in that chase sequence. Maybe it's one of the four arrows Clint pulled out of the quiver.

Of all the arrows, I never thought the Imagine Dragons diss would be the most savage. This show was supposed to be for kids.

The Pym arrow wrecked me. Wrecked. I had to pause I was laughing so hard.

Finally caught up, enjoying the show!

So Hawkeye is a spinoff show about the dude from MASH? I thought they already tried that and it failed.

That was Trapper John M.D. c'mon now. Hawkeye is a much more popular character.
