Random non sequitur posts catch-all thread

I guess this thread about the best place for this.

Some of you know Bill Harris from his blog and he posted yesterday that his wife, Gloria, was killed in a accident last week.

I have followed his blog for going on 10 years now and I think others here might have as well so I thought it worthwhile to post so people could send a message if they felt it was appropriate.

http://dubiousquality.blogspot.com/

Oh my god. I have to send him a note. Oh no. I stopped reading the blog a while back, just went to other things, but he and I used to write reviews and such in the Gone Gold days. That's terrible.

Edit - Looks like he's unavailable through public channels at the moment. I need to see if I'm still friends with him on FB. What a horror.

Seeing as I know nothing on website here is my list of upgrades this website needs and I am sure they will all be easy to do.

1. A button that says do not push. Pushing the button punishes the user that pushed it.
2. A button next to the do not push button with no description. This button does nothing 96.3% of the time.
3. One of those pop-ups you get when trying to talk to a human on a website. "Hi, my name is clippy and I am sure I can help you". This feature is to offer no valuable information.
4. An option to switch between 90's style websites and the current one.

Message from some eBay user I received this morning regarding an item I'm selling:

What's your best price bro

Two problems with that message:
1. Make me an offer, and you'll see if I reject it or not
2. User is from China, and I don't ship to China

I'm currently debating whether I will reply or just ignore it.

Just ignore it. Don't engage with scammers.

I don't with:
我不去中国 bro
Wǒ bù qù zhōngguó

I don't ship to China... but that's just me.

Yep, ignoring the message is what I went with.

Y'all are monsters. What's next, posting about how you also like Peeps? ;-)

Also, someone hit the candy corn manufacturer with ransomware.

Dune is the story of a JRPG protag who did the unthinkable: he used all his OP consumables right away instead of saving them "in case I need them later."

Well that's because the prescience granted by spice is effectively playing that game with a guidebook open on the couch next to you.

Got to see an exasperated parental "Because I said so" deployed in the wild today. It'd been a while.

I've followed Critical Role since about midway through their first campaign. While I don't hate new people getting engaged with the community, I've noticed a ton of new videos from creators I've never heard of for Campaign 3 which just started. These new videos seem to have a different tone from the previous campaigns, less enjoyment and more critical responses. I wonder if this has anything to do with the leaked Twitch documents revealing CR as the highest paid streamers. /sarcasm

My paternity leave sure has made my anti-work sentiments a lot stronger. I'm due to go back to work on Monday, after my second child was born 4 weeks ago. It's been great to support my wife and get lots of time with our newborn, but a side-effect I didn't really see coming was the bonding with our toddler. We've had an amazing time.

The bond between us has grown a lot, just in 4 weeks. Like, really, noticeably stronger. We've always had what I thought was a great relationship, but there's now an additional layer of depth that was never there before. And after only 4 weeks!

But it's back to work on Monday and all that gets thrown out the window.

No it doesn't. That's not to say that you're wrong to lament having to go back to work, or to feel like you need and deserve more, because you're not at all. But those four weeks are not worth less because they have to end.

Today it's "hot" where we live in LA, so I'm not using my main PC because that room gets really hot, even with AC. I've therefore come to realize that, if I'm on a desert island, all I need are two games: Star Fleet II on a laptop and Bloody Rally Show on a Switch and I'll be good to go.

I get a craving like I fiend for nicotine. But I don't need a cigarette, know what I mean?

Eat werthers originals.

Yeah, you're 100% right. I think "thrown out the window" was a bit of a melodramatic choice of words by me. I guess it's a good reminder to make the most of what time we have together. But I do wish we lived in world that actually valued family as much as we pay lip service to "family values".

Yes. It's a fine line between (rightly) being grateful for the time you have together, and (rightly) feeling you should have more.

Magnetize.

I am generally pretty good on not feeding the trolls on social media, but I saw someone doing a spectacular "dumbest man alive" act today, and resisting pointing and laughing at him was so, so hard.

The overdone Cheez-Its in a normal box of Cheez-Its are the best form of Cheez-It but, somehow, the Cheez-Its in the box of specifically overdone Cheez-Its are garbage.

100%.

Same thing as how getting the rare double chicken nugget is always wonderful, but if they started making those on purpose, they'd definitely be disgusting.

I stared into the abyss and the abyss ran away screaming.

Has Ruining the Tagging industry been suggested?

The Tagging Industrial Complex.

If I pick a tag then the mods will be able to see me.
