The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Catch-All

I understand AE breaks mods. I assume it's the same for mods on XBOX?

Torn on updating as I'm in the middle of a pretty cool mod adventure on Xbox.

The tags in Steam are on point.

I just reinstalled it this week and installed some mods through the in-game interface. Any idea if those are expected to break, or only ones installed manually/outside of the game itself?

From what I’ve been reading this update is going to break a lot of mods. You’re probably in better shape if you downloaded them through the Steam workshop rather than going through Nexus but I would still expect some issues.

There’s also some real question about how much this is going to be fixed as a lot of modders moved on from Skyrim years ago.

Done a couple of hours (just killed first scaly at the tower, now off to see the Greybeards), and the only thing I've noticed so far is that all of the Companions I've met have got pink arms but black faces and pink eyes, almost like they are dark elves.

My character is, as usual, a melange of 2h warhammer (already up to 40% 2h perk plus a set of gloves Balgruuf gave me with an extra +15% 2h damage) which now has a frost enchant on it, plus a bow with burn damage. Oh, and once I get the drain soul enchant to fill gems, all bets are off

I fired up my new game after installing the new patch and all of the mods seem to be working okay so far. Also, they seem to have fixed the issue where you can't use the mouse when a controller is plugged in.

Any Xbox folks update? I was in the middle of a couple of mod quests (Bruma) when I last played Skyrim on Xbox. I used the alternative start mod to try a fresh approach to the game. Wondering whether the story mods are broken. I hope the update also allows more than 5 gigs of downloaded mods.

Sincerely,
Chad

The black faces issue is a common bug from using npc overhaul mods. The mesh or texture doesn't match what the game data says it should be. It was also a major issue with HD face and hair mods. It's pretty embarrassing if Bethesda did it to themselves.

Played for a couple hours tonight, including some time on stream. It's a lot of fun revisiting. I feel the urge to do a full replay, but I don't think I'll take the time to do so. The world continues to pull me in, and the loop of wandering the wilderness, delving into a dungeon, and selling your stuff back in town is as strong as ever. The jankiness is still there, but at this point would it be Skyrim without a floating giant's club hanging in midair at a random location? I think not.

Can't get around posting the image and video directly, but here's something I made yesterday for Skyrim's 10th anniversary, hope you guys like it!

Edit: just for the sake of testing if it's a bug or not

Edit Edit: Thanks hbi2k!

And another one of 'em Edits: There's a timelapse in the link you can check as well for a behind the scenes look on how I do these little guys, if anyone happens to care about that kind of stuff.

Figured it out. You're using the URL of the page with the image in it, https://imgur.com/Lu3qJlT

On that page, right-click the image you want to embed and look for something like "Copy Image Address." That will give you the direct URL to the image itself, which is https://i.imgur.com/Lu3qJlT.png

Use that URL in the IMG tags. Generally speaking, if you're trying to embed an image somewhere, you should be using a URL that ends in a file extension for an image filetype like PNG, JPG, GIF, etc.

Edit: Removed picture embed so we wouldn't have two posts with the same pic back-to-back. (-:

So has anyone found a good guide for the new content? I created two new characters - a Wood Elf archer and Breton mage but am looking for the new bow and necromancy book with the bone golem.

I started up a Khajit where I'm planning on killing folks who talks down to me, so basically everyone. Right now I'm doing dual wielding daggers.

Only thing I'm not sure what to do is choose health or stamina on level ups.

I believe Xbox does not use Skyrim script extender and, if so, any risk of mods breaking?
Thinking the graphical upgrade with the AE would allow me to not use so much of the 5 gig limit for the graphic pack mods.
Hmm.

In all my hundreds of hours with Skyrim, I've never done a dual-dagger build... *looks sideways at my Skyrim disc*

The answer so far is: Stamina.

I hate looking at build guides and whatnot and generally prefer to do my own thing, so I'm hoping it turns out to be the correct path! I may end up doing a 1:2 split on Health and Stamina. Not sure. So far it's a bow shot or two then knives to finish em off. I can get a LOT of hits in to each of their attacks.

I am sad to say I've murdered a lot of fisherpeoples littering the landscape. They make good folks to pickpocket then murder. I'm not a very nice person this go around.

It's OK Garion, war, especially civil war is rough on everyone, we know times are tough and you need to do whatever you need to do to survive.

So I’ve ended up doing my standby Norn warrior build, especially since there are so many cool armor sets to craft in the anniversary edition. That being said, last time I went Stormcloaks since I was in a libertarian phase in 2012-13. This time it’s Imperial all the way.

Heh. I always say I'll do an evil run, but I usually end up stealing everything rather than murdering everyone.

anyhoo, I tripped and started another Skyrim character...

I always play the first time as a goody two shoes, save the world type in any RPG
2nd is more of a anti authoritarian who doesn't suffer fools but still wants to save the world.
If I get to a third round then its klepto IDGAF guy.

I've never downloaded any kind of kill the kids mod, that is my line I guess.

All the 11/11 hype and I'm right back in. I'd swore after 100 hours into a VR run I'd never touch flatrim again, but here I am already 20 hours into a new save. I'm doing a survival mode playthrough since I never tried that before, and in my opinion that mode is fairly well done and giving the game a different pacing. I'm also enjoying the fact that I went with a clean install, and only the CC content that was added with the upgrade, so it's a nice change to not have the constant tinkering with mods and just be playing the game.

Currently level 12 Orc, 2hand warhammer, bow, heavy armor, no magic, stealth only to lead off sketchy fights with (no perks). I find the warhammer final blow animations so satisfying that I'm beginning to worry about myself a little.

Anyone Xbox upgrades able to comment on whether the graphics upgrade is better than the add on graphics mods?

Thanks,
Chad

Mods are always going to be better. This wasn't about upgrading graphics, it's basically the same as prior enhanced edition thing, whatever it was called.

Thank you. Will upgrading break the mods on Xbox? I don’t think so because Xbox does not use Skyrim Sxcript Extender, right?

I installed 150 mods today and game works perfectly fine.

I don't believe there's been any mention of major breaks. This really is simply giving access to Creation Club content + 4k 60 fps.

Perhaps a question out of ignorance, how can you load 150 mods with only 5 gigs of memory allocated for Skyrim mods? Small size? Those graphic pack mods I use are huge.

Well, someone did all the leg work for me, but they picked and chose stuff to hit both the 150 mod limit and be within the 5 gb file size limit. They used a spreadsheet to work it all out.

Wow. I was looking at that spreadsheet after I typed my message. Impressive.

I have no problem paying to upgrade to AE. Assuming I keep the same mods (graphics packs, extra quests, perks) would the 4K and increased FPS provide a noticeable improvement? I have an uncapped FPS mod so I wonder if I am already getting 60 fps.

Thank you,
Chad

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably not, but you'd also get some more Creation Club stuff outside of the free stuff they already gave everyone. I'd suggest waiting on a sale myself. Don't see the need to rush out and get this upgrade. Enjoy the fishing for free, ya know?

Good point. Fishing will do for now. Thank you.
