Post a Picture of Your Silly Purchase of the Month.

Is that what I think it it is on top of the disembodied head?

Looks like Johnny Five.

Needed a new keyring to go with the new bike

So I keep an eye out on eBay for Star Trek jackets, because the geekiest thing I own is an airbrushed TNG jacket I got in 1989, and I wanted a different one to wear to various geeky things I go to.

So imagine my shock when I found this vintage, licensed Paramount official Deep Space Nine jacket from the 90s. Not only that, but it has several signatures on the sleeves, such as Armin Shimmerman, Michael Dorn and Kate Mulgrew. All for $49.50.

I stared at it in disbelief for several seconds before slamming the buy button. It's in INSANELY good condition, I just want to get it dry-cleaned before I actually put it on. I just can't believe my luck.

Bought 2 decent-quality Rubik's speed cubes, one for home and one for work. Starting to work on basic finger tricks to improve the algorithms I already know. I don't plan to learn any new methods, just improve the ones I know.

I bought a new mechanical "keyboard".

Its firmware is super-customizable, and I'm still deciding how exactly I want to set it up. In the meantime, it's a great dedicated copy and paste shortcut.

That's awesome.

How is that faster or better than ctrl+c,v on the keyboard your hands are presumably already on? I feel like I am missing a joke.

It goes on the floor and you use your toes.

The joke is that programmers just copy / paste from StackOverflow. So those three keys are all a programmer needs - a shortcut to open the site, copy, and paste.

It's not

Man, I apparently copy, paste, and close SO so fast I never learned its icon.

I actually got this last month, and it's not a picture, but Physics Girl produced a Schrödinger’s cat plushie that's both alive and dead at the same time. Well, it looks alive on one side, then you flip it over and it looks dead, so not an actual superposition, but it's still pretty cool.

And it was just featured in her video where she tries to explain Schrödinger’s cat and its implications to laypeople (her filming crew).

Really enjoyed this album back in the early 80s, so when I happened on an action figure for it I found it too dumb not to buy.

Yusssssssss.

A Stahl firepit.

I like your garden! Nice firepit too.

That's some thick, I assume, steel. How long does that thing hold heat after the fire is burned out?

Do you need to worry about the concrete under it?

Is it treated to prevent runsting? Or is it supposed to develop a patina?

Correct, it's steel. Weighs about 100lbs.

I don't believe so since the points of contact with it are minimal but I will be asking Stahl to be sure. We just set it up for a test, can't really use it till the rainy season is over.

It will develop a patina over time, so it should eventually match our Corten steel plant containers in the background. They make anodized aluminum ones but Stahl says those will discolor over time when used as the wood burning version.

Time to build a track and start my own diecast racing league

Good luck being the next 3D Bot Maker! I cannot believe that I have been sucked into watching youtube videos of Hot Wheels racing.

This is awesome, though I fear you've just sent me down a silly purchase rabbit hole of my own. Venom was always on my playlist, before playlists existed.

... and I've already found a King Diamond one! Never knew these were a thing.

Super 7 has a lot of cool figures. I got my Papa Emeritus (Ghost) from there.

The commentary is what makes it. Other channels are nowhere near as engaging.

I guess I have to give everyone my address so I can start a GWJ diecast league.
