What are you playing this weekend?

Forza Horizon 5

After finishing Ys VIII, my big games are done for awhile, so it's time to play whatever interests me for a bit. So to that end, it's probably going to be Super Mega Baseball 3 as I'm working on my third season in Franchise mode, Qvdriga with the Strategy Game Club for some brutal horse race action, and maybe Star Wars: Squadron since a GWJer gave me a key, and the campaign isn't too long.

I should be enjoying Guardians of the Galaxy but moving in to a new home the one casualty was my computer which I ended up dropping on my driveway. But it was a 12-year old computer which was really starting to show its age. The only things I upgraded on it over the years were various GPU's and the PSU to support those voltage sucking GPUs. Everything else is original - including HDs. Got so much mileage out of that computer.

So I ordered a brand spankin new computer with a bunch of fix'ns and to my disappointment it arrived with a defective motherboard. So back it goes and I wait another 2-3 weeks for repair.

While I wait I will continue to play games on the Legends Ultimate Arcade cabinet for another 2-3 weeks. Which I'm still loving.

Hopefully finishing my NG+ run of Final Fantasy XIV's main story. Might try to fit in some Forza Horizon or Assassin's Creed Valhalla too.

I did that after getting it free on PS+ a few months back. It's worth playing the campaign. You get both Rebel and Imperial sides, chance to fly every ship, and some decent story.

I made a list of the games I've started recently and not finished or abandoned, and it's depressing. So, this weekend could be any/all of these: Xenogears (PS1), Tomb Raider III (PC), Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom (360), Splinter Cell (OGXbox), Tales of Phantasia (PS1), Jet Set Radio Future (OGXbox), or Assassin's Creed IV (PC).

Sakuna: Rice and Ruin. This is a good one. It is a mix of Castlevania and Harvest Moon (lite). The Castlevania portions are fairly lite but you can combo into some DMC action ala Nero with his fist. The Harvest Moon parts are growing rice with seasons and everything.

Trying to finish platinum on Hades (PS5, one questline to go), probably working on Persona 5 Royal (PS5, in December right now) and assuming I only have a couple Hades runs left, probably bringing something else into rotation. AC Valhalla (PC) or Ghost of Tsushima (PS5) are the front runners. I don't think P5 is close as the extra semester is supposed to be another 20 hours or so.

Riftbreaker, possibly some Dicey Dungeons and Tiny Tina Assault on Dungeonkeep.

Like others, I've jumped on the Inscryption bandwagon and I'm glad I did.

What
Is
This
Game?

So much fun. So many twists. It's great.

And now I've learned about Drox Operative 2 and just installed the demo. Sounds like fun. Thanks, GWJers!

Then I have to start working on my pitch to the Mrs. on why we need a Legends Ultimate Arcade.

More Stranded Deep hopefully. We’ve survived twenty days! Also some more Absolver. It’s one of those fighting games where you have to actually learn the fighting system but I think I’m into the combat enough to give it a go (there’s a lot to it.) It’s the same developer who are working on the yet to be released Sifu so this will be a good test to see if I can get my head around the intricacies of one of their fighting systems.

I've got some Star Fleet II to playtest. Beyond that, more Warhammer: Inquisitor, Final Fantasy IV maybe Ghost Recon: Breakpoint.

I've been working my way through the campaign of They are Billions. I'm loving this game, but it is unforgiving. I can't imagine playing it without knowing how to back up saves. I'll also be playing Forza Horizon 4 and Dicey Dungeons

This game is one of the best hidden gems of the 360 generation.

This weekend I shall be continuing my occupation of the FC Barcelona manager's office in Football Manager 22, or taking time out to destroy more of the scaly vermin in Skyrim.

Really? I'm about an hour in. I liked it at first, but the more I play it the less I like it.

Same. It's so good.

Maybe Metroid Dead too? I'm very close to the end, but not in the mood for difficult games so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, we'll see.

Battlefield 2042 if I can actually make it into some matches.

Qvadriga, Albae vincit! And of course Armoured Commander 2, middle of August 1944, heading to liberate Nantes in my trusty Easy Eight. I'll put some time into Ferret's Demon, I'm sure. Not sure about longer form games yet.

Orcs Must Die 3’s first dlc is out. We’ve dipped out toe into it. Nice to have new maps and enemies with fresh, extremely annoying abilities.

Guardians of the Galaxy for me!

Me too. I'm liking this more than I thought I would.

Maybe it doesn’t hold up, I haven’t played it for a decade, but I remember it being a charming enjoyable adventure. I say hidden gem because when it was released it got little coverage. It feels like a budget title in some respects and is rough around the edges, but I thought it was good enough that it should have received some recognition.

I'm playing through the original Legend of Zelda on the new Game and Watch that just arrived.

Shin Megami Tensei V has already sucked 4 hours from me this weekend.

I just beat Inscryption.

It's very, very, very good.

I don't even like card games, but it's really ingenious to call it one. The cards are just half of what this game is doing.

(And yes, I used "ingenious" for a reason. The game is sneaky.)

This is my first card/deck builder game. I had no clue what I was doing in the beginning. I have gotten a little better...I think Still playing it, which is a good sign.

Let's talk about it! I want to talk about this game!

It's so good! Someone please indulge my need to be nerdy on the Internet with others!

Visit the Inscryption thread.

I beat Guardians of the Galaxy (XSX), which was a surprisingly good game with some excellent writing. It was pretty long too (~18 hours).

There's a little too much banter between the group, but I didn't hate it too much since the script was pretty good.

Sleeper hit this year, for sure.

Guardians of the Galaxy. It's not exactly deep but I don't care because I'm having so much fun playing it and it looks beautiful.
