He wouldn't have played for em and they knew it. That was the whole point of the restructure. The league got the message.

Now, however, they can still throw TAX FREE MONEY at him and give him Bork's old cabana!

Then you stick him on the Did Not Report list and nobody gets him.

Instead they might end up watching a division rival sign him and chase a Super Bowl with him.

This should be fun but probably quick as to where he lands.

Ravens to still play the Browns twice I think would be very fun.

Maybe not changing the subject as much as you think. Apparently his top choice to sign with is Kaaron and the Pack.

BREAKING NEWS from Charlotte: HEY DARNOLD has a broken right (throwing arm) scapula and will miss several weeks!

IMAGE(https://media.giphy.com/media/3o7abIileRivlGr8Nq/giphy.gif)

(happy about the "miss several weeks" thing; sorry that he's hurt, because that sucks for him)

Next up is PJ Walker, who in his last significant action was ... (goes to his PFR page) ...

... 3 for 14 for 33 yards and a QB rating of 39.6

Edit: It gets better! Carolina is doubling-down on ineffective former Southern Cal QBs and is planning to sign Matt Barkley off the Titans' practice squad. Credit to Matt Rhule for realizing that you never really want to put PJ Walker out there. But I'm not sure a guy who hasn't started a game since 2018 is the answer either.

This is starting to feel like the Jimmy Clausen/Matt Moore/Brian St. Pierre season of 2010 except that there isn't a Cam Newton out there in the 2022 draft.

No, but there's a Cam Newton out there in free agency available to sign right now!

I need someone here to help me find a Joe Namath style fur coat.

As cheap-o as possible, it's for a theme party.

LMGTFY

Really, you want a faux mink coat. Try thrift stores.

Isn't there some guy named Colin who can play QB?

I believe his contract requires the word "Black" to be added to the name of any team that signs him. Seems like a win win for Carolina.

How in the world is the list price on that full-length jacket even lower than HEY DARNOLD's QB rating?! Is it made of squirrel? Or ghosts?

Bullshit penalty

If by "bullshit" you mean, "a stupid error for the player to make", then I agree. If you mean that it shouldn't have been given, then I disagree.

If you look at the replay of the incident, at around 50 seconds, we see Marsh swagger towards the Steelers' sideline, giving them 'eyeball' all the way. This is after he executes a pretty good Martelo Rodado in celebration, AND accepts the congratulations of his team mates. He could then have decided to trot back to the sideline to be congratulated by his coaches... But he doesn't. Instead, he decides to 'give it large towards' the Steelers, despite the fact that every player has been told that taunting is a point of emphasis this year.

The relevant NFL rule itself is actually very clear. Under Rule 12.3.1.c a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct will be called where a player is deemed to have used "baiting or taunting acts or words that may engender ill will between teams". This gives considerable latitude to officials to make a judgement about taunting.

Players, particularly veteran players like Marsh (who has been in the league since 2014!) should know this, and conduct themselves accordingly. Indeed, players, generally, appear to have got the message. Taunting penalties seem to have settled down since the start of the season.

I understand that Marsh has made his way back onto the Roster from the Practice Squad. Perhaps it was ill-discipline, lack of focus, or a not understanding the rules that put him there in the first place.

Huh. I thought player safety was a priority this season but it looks like Plaguebearer Rodgers won’t be suspended for being a deliberate vector.

The new NFL. Gotta be gentle with these guys feelings and wishes. Not on the field though where everyone is dodging career crippling injuries.

I guess the Jags didn't want to be that franchise with that rep. Thing is the Browns started this by giving in to his demands. It would be fitting if he ended up with the Ravens catching TDs on the Browns to seal the division.

There is nothing that OBJ could bring that would get the Ravens closer to sealing the division. Unless he can gain 200 pounds and suddenly become a vicious pulling guard or heat seeking pass rusher or become a shutdown corner, he isn't going to be the piece the Ravens need.

He is too famous and too powerful. He would be on the street if he was a journeyman backup QB. Ask Cam.

And unless he gets completely healthy, there is nothing OBJ can do to help any team.

Hey! I'm actually fully vaccinated!

Yeah. I am aware that Rodgers enjoys a privileged status even if it means endangering lives.

I do think that OBJ will definitely be able to contribute to a team. I just don't think that what he has to contribute is necessarily a big priority for the Ravens. It is certainly not a big enough one to offer him a roster spot given an already very crowded WR room.

Vikings backup OG Dakota Dozier had to go to the ER with COVID and pneumonia, and is still in the hospital, even though he's breathing OK at this point. So, hey, thanks Kirk Cousins, Adam Thielen, and the rest of the unvaccinated asshats on that team.

It really feels like the NFL officiating has been making Pittsburg relevant for the last few years. It appears, at least to me, that the NFL is invested in perpetuating the fraud of the Steelers as contenders out of a sense of marketing nostalgia.

Wow

If that's the case, then I wonder what poor bastard team the refs are buttfuc- ... oh.

Dalvin Cook being sued for domestic abuse. Dalvin Cook's spokesman Adam "Mr. Editor" Schefter says Cook was the victim. I say unfollow Schefter and never quote anything from him ever again.

That’s some data. I think drawing real conclusions from aggregated stats across a few years is pretty meaningless. Take Pittsburgh. The reason they’re right up there is because they play Cleveland and Baltimore twice a year, who are on average, highly penalized teams. There’s clearly a division clustering effect happening.

Only if you get obliterated and try to kiss random women.

The Pittsburgh opponents' penalty yards stat is are baffling. I mean, how do you get all sweet sweet DPI yardage when your QB can't throw it past the line of scrimmage?

Gumbie wrote:

That could be quite dangerous given it's a company party.

I can promise to tell everyone how I couldn't care less that the Jets are struh-guh-leeng.

The problem with penalty stats like that is it's easy to cherry-pick; the Bucs are pretty high up on that "benefit from penalties" list, and it's not because of the Tom Brady era. Presuming my quick scan of the table is right, the Bucs in the 2018 had the most penalties committed against them, and nobody even remembered the team existed in 2018. Am I supposed to believe the refs have been giving extra benefits to Tampa and Cincinnati as well, or is my paranoia stopping with Pittsburgh?
