Lost Ark - Diablo 3 Clone MMO

So this is a gamepad game...

On the plus side, the way the story and level design are integrated is epic in the true sense of the word.

I may start using C instead of mouse click for attack. I find things a bit awkward with mouse controls and they have a ton of attacks. The style and flow of the few characters I've tried are good. I just don't feel like I am capably in control.

And bosses just absolutely wreck you. Yes there is dodging but it seems to be on a cooldown where you can dodge 1 out of every 4 boss telegraphs.

I am glad they don't make you wait forever to get your advanced class. Plus they give you ample opportunity to test out each one before you commit to an advanced class.

I'm also glad I supported the game for the great positives. I can't shake the feeling that this is a diablo game for those RTS players that can do 17+ clicks/commands per second.

I use K/M without issue. As usual I bind things to the way I like

This sounds like it might positive to me. Would not be an A-RPG if you could just dodge roll out of all hits.

A lot less positive, though people dont seem to agree on it

You can pretty much run out of all the boss telegraphs. The trick is letting them attack first so you can position accordingly. Use the roll only for the big ones. Also at the end of most attacks the boss has a few second downtime so use that. Attacks from behind give bonus damage. Also don't forget to use your class special.

Been reading up a little bit on Lost Ark. Sounds like there are "raids" designed for 4 people. Doesn't sound very soloable. Do they scale with player count?

I'm not sure if you ever played WoW, but I see this statement as "WoW is not soloable because there are raids designed for xx people". There is a ton of content you can do otherwise without ever needing to group. I only got to play to 17 so not sure how much there is to the end game in Lost Ark, although from what I've read, you can solo everything but the end game content.

As for higher end raids, I don't know. My hopes is that there is a lot of content to do without having to group. What I noticed when I went into a dungeon was that there was a matchmaking option. I want it to work as I see it in my mind and be awesome

It would also be very accurate to say WoW is not completely soloable. Heck, not even remotely close to completely soloable, with both dungeons and raids taking up the vast majority of its endgame.

No need for pendantics... There's not been a MMO where end game content is soloable by the average player.

Everything UP to that point is though and it's a f*ck ton of content AND it doesn't matter what class you choose.

Which is why I asked if it was completely soloale or MMO-like. And it looks like it is an MMO. That hardly seems like pendantics.

That is fine though. As mentioned earlier the A-RPG space is crowded suddenly, so it is not like there aren't choices to be had even if Lost Ark is not part of it.
I am just disappointed.

The thread title says "MMO" and is in the "MMORPG" forum...

Plenty of games are playing loose with their genre-definitions. I still dont see the problem in asking how much of an MMO the game is

I have certainly heard Lost Ark described as an MMO before. Always just assumed it was still first and foremost an A-RPG, with a tiny bit of MMO elements sprinkled on, such as being able to run into other players, like you can do in towns in PoE.

I agree that the 'mmo' label is used when it shouldn't and it's not there when it should.

Have you looked at the game play at all? It's obviously VERY much an ARPG.

At the same time it's a very expansive and interwoven world so the MMO suffix definitely applies

KR just announced a new Mage class so hopefully next season we'll see it in the NA

As for what's available in the NA version

Delayed to earlier 22

I heard that and am super bummed.

Closed Beta Info

A ton of great info about the beta, monetization, and lots of other stuff.

I am looking forward to giving this ago.

in KR and RU... the NA launch is in a couple weeks.

If you guys want quick and simple videos about Lost Ark (roughly 5 minutes each), check out A3Fit Gaming. His Discord has a lot of great information as well. He has been my go-to for any confusion I've had in how Lost Ark works.

Well, I'm in. You had me at Diablo style MMO. Purchased a founders pack, and looking forward to the launch!

Big thing when looking up info on Lost Ark is to make sure it's for NA. There's 3 years worth of info from the KR/RU launches. While primarily similar there's some distinct differences between all 3 versions.

If you guys are impatient, here's a really easy guide on how to play on the RU server. There's an English translation patch and the ping for me is good. I haven't tried PVP but just to give some classes a try and have fun for the next 17 days, completely worth it.

For those that do this keep in mind that the class selections are not the same as what they are for the NA launch

i can't find it again but apparently you get only one shot with character names... until they get something squared away with amazon which could be years from now
so if you think you're going to delete a toon be sure to give it a throw away name

I'm planning on playing on Avesta
