Meet Richard Miller:

He's kind of a dick because he manifested twice but didn't write in my Ghost Book, which forced me to guess that he was an Oni:

Next time when I hear footsteps following me 100 yards from the ghost room and think it's a banshee, just put banshee in the damn book and leave.

Winner of the 2020 Video Game Awards' "Best Debut Game." I can't wait for the waves of knockoffs with janky character animation. Please someone make one involving UFO abductions; that'd complete my childhood nightmare fuel from Unsolved Mysteries game collection.

Banshees seem to go into hunt mode way more easily on solo play now. That's the second banshee I ran across and it got me.

Edit: And both times they were in rooms where it's almost impossible to find fingerprints.

I was thinking to pull this one off the shelf for some Halloween scares this week and turns out the timing is perfect. There's a content update dropping this week. If there's any interest in the community, I'll plan to fire up some matches on the discord during the week and through the weekend. Fingers crossed they've optimized it for VR in the meantime, but even if they haven't, this game is kinda too scary for VR anyway.

I would love to group up!

Excellent. How are Weds and Thurs evening? (for anyone else interested too). I'm looking at about 7 -12 EST.

SANTA!

I've been playing this a bit more recently after picking up a bunch of tips and tricks from youtube folks.

I find it very rewarding managing my own fear and anxiety in order to gather evidence and observe ghost behavior. There's a lot of surface jank (the shop and loadout UIs are GARBAGE), but there's also a decent amount of depth.

The devs have said there will be a major update in "July" so the community is expecting it to drop at some point this week. The update will include a level reset, the introduction of a prestige system, and new tiered items (i.e. level 1, 2, 3 EMF). I believe they have said no new maps for a while at least.

I mostly play solo, but would love the chance to play in a non-pub group. Ping me on Steam if you want to hop in a game at some point!

XBox and Playstation versions are also expected to launch in August.

Devs are pushing the update to "Mid August" now. NBD to me. I've only got 35 hours in it, so there's plenty left in the current state for me to do.

One thing I've generally been enjoying lately are the weekly challenges. I like that they encourage me to try different maps, and help me understand the impacts of various changes to the difficulty settings. They also seem to be tailored to show off some different gameplay strategies.

This week's in particular seems to be doing a great job of giving me a safe way to learn how to manage hunts and looping, rather than panicking and running for the nearest closet at the first sign of a hunt.

It was very rewarding when I got a polti in the weekly, and knew what it was from looping it for a bit. I didn't need to collect any evidence, and got the ghost type after a single hunt!

Update was released today on PC, and boy did they make it grindy. You unlock the last Tier 1 item at level 16 and unlocking everything at Tier 3 requires leveling to 90.

I was out of town and wasn't able to play the new update until today. I miss having all the cool stuff, but the process of unlocking everything will be fun.
So far I'm really digging the challenge of the tier 1 gear. I dropped back to Intermediate difficulty until I can get smudges unlocked and feel more comfortable looping again and can go back up to nightmare.
I also saw an interesting grinding opportunity (Insym's stream) -- custom difficulty ~13x on camp woodwind, which netted about 3k per run. It was 0 sanity 0 evidence so doing a loop setup with salt and an active item at the picnic tables right at the gate means a quick hunt and then a guess before loading out.
