NBA 2021-22 Season Catch-All

Simmons is still a guard who can't shoot 3s. Fairly worthless in today's NBA. Never understood the hype from before LSU or since

Curious what advice he is getting from his agents at this point and or if he's actually even listening.

Is this just them trying their best to tank his value and get that trade going or is Simmons even making his team go Wtf.

Well, I guess that's smarter than his holdout gambit.

But I don't understand why Simmons won't just participate and do a horrible job like Harden in Houston last season.

I may whine too much about the NBA regular season bring a glorified pre-season friendly tournament but I will have Lakers-Warriors on tonight.

There isn't a single lineup LeBron or AD played in last season that our calculations at @The_BBall_Index said had less spacing talent-wise than LA's starting lineup tonight.

How LA counteracts that with smart scheme will be critical for their half court success.

He really just seems like a petulant man child. I don't know the guy and he hardly ever really talks to the media so this is an uninformed opinion, but from an outside perspective I don't understand why people would want him on their team.

The things he does well, he does extremely well (passing and defence). He's also truly multipositional meaning you can play him at any position and he's fine. That he can't shoot doesn't matter as much if you treat him as a point-forward and make it so the rest of the team can. Beyond his personality, which looks terrible from our perspective, he has to have a system fit to him rather than fit into a system and that's such a limiting factor.

I can see some teams, the Raptors are interested for example, thinking they can unlock a lot there. I also don't think he has much value given his contract, attitude, past failures, and deficiencies.

I can't wait to see him playing his first home game. I can't remember a time a player was this hated by their own fanbase (maybe Vince in Toronto). And Philly, oof they're not gonna hold back. Looking forward to some very creative obscene chants. Also looking forward to how the announcers describe the scene.

Is Simmons being the anti Draymond Green a fair comp?

Similar skill set but Simmons just seems extreme.

In a vacuum Simmons is better than Draymond. But then you weigh the contract, attitude, need for the team to essentially be completely built around Simmons and not quite for Green.

From a viewing perspective Simmons could announce tomorrow he is done with basketball and never play again and I'd probably forget about him come November. There's just so much more interesting talent in the league that he can honestly just go away.

I need more Ja Morant in my life, less Simmons.

I know the Wizards upgraded their PG and depth but that is not the start I had hoped for the Raptors to have.

I want this player on the Wizards for... reasons.

Thanks to Bomani Jones and Mina Kimes for letting me know this guy existed on Bo's podcast.

I know we've only seen 1 game so far, but I don't understand how the Westbrook thing is going to work. His defender sagged WAY off of him the entire game when Westbrook was off the ball on offense. He doesn't move on offense. He isn't cutting or screening or even pretending to do anything away from the ball, so if the ball isn't in his hands you don't need to pay much attention to him. How is this supposed to make the Lakers better versus someone like KCP who was a live option to hit a 3 or cut to the rim?

It isn't, that is what everyone has been saying all summer. It won't work unless Westbrook changes how he plays and actually moves off the ball, or if he comes off the bench and is the primary ball handler for the second unit.

It is only one game and I assume they are thinking they have to prove to Westbrook that what he is doing is a problem before he will decide he is ready to change.

Excellent Simmons content: https://twitter.com/great3st_/status...

Westbrook never made any sense. And yet I just got this month's SI and they are picking the Lakers to win it all. WTF?

The 76 players on the 75th anniversary team

I need to see a breakdown of who got removed from the 50th team. Cause it feels like a lot more than 26 guys added from the last 25 years.

Steph with the perfect 1st quarter. 5/5 from 3, 9/9 overall, 25 points!

What a game. Warriors hold on

Was skimming box scores and remembered that Steven Adams is with Memphis now.

I consume a lot of NBA content. How have I not heard a single Grizzly Adams joke?

This is now the preferred way to celebrate Warriors wins this season. I'll be taking no further questions at this time.

From Charania:

Sources: Ben Simmons spoke to Doc Rivers, Joel Embiid and entire 76ers team today and accepted everyone needs to take responsibility, including himself — but Simmons informed them all that he’s not mentally ready to play yet and needs time.

Unbelievable. I'd say don't pay him a dime until he's back on the court, but then the player's union will cite ADA and mental health issues. So pissed off.

A statement before the piece comes out?

This oughtta get real interesting fast.

Sarver is gonna Sarver…. Wonder what it is this time.

From what I've seen on Twitter, "racism, sexism, and sexual harassment." Basically the stuff that supposedly got Jerry Richardson removed as owner of the Carolina Panthers.

I watched most of that Suns Lakers game. What a laugher. Such awkward energy from the whole thing.

I bet Lebron regrets saying ok to the Westbrook trade, and teared up a little watching Alex Caruso.

Last night's Raptors game was a lot of fun. Not for the Celtics. They had a miserable time. But those Raptors! I can see how, on nights when everything is working, they will be one of the most frustrating teams to ever play against. Just limbs everywhere while constantly switching.

Stele, you know SI gutted basically their entire quality writing staff when they sold out to Authentic Brands two years ago? Any quality writer has long since left in lieu of writing a bunch of bait click articles. I legit post this in the event you didn't know and as a personal decade long subscriber. Same thing happened to Newsweek.

Thanks.

No I actually just started getting them free a few months ago. Think it might have been frequent flyer rewards that were about to expire because not flying and Delta maybe sent me free stuff? Not sure.

The Olympic preview was good. Ohtani article a couple months ago was great. Couple other good reads here and there. But yeah some very skippable stuff too. I hadn't read it in years so didn't notice a drastic difference.

Seeing non-calls this season on all the free throw grifting warms my heart.
