A place to discuss the now-global coronavirus outbreak.
When was he even vaccinated? Isnt it proven beyond any doubt now, that the vaccines only stays highly efficient for about 6 months among elderly people with weakened immune systems. Hence the booster shot.
I remember back in April they did studies that checked the antibody levels of people who are immunocompromised (organ transplant patients, cancer, etc...) after they got their vaccine and it was showing 0 antibodies. Even at that time, they were suggesting an antibody test and a third shot.
Wash St football coach fired for refusing to get vaccine.
They fired him "with cause" too, so no bonuses or contract buyout. The story the other day mentioned he was Catholic and the local church had pointed out that no, vaccines were not against their religion. So, no exemption for him.
$3 million annual salary just kissed it goodbye.
Will Liberty hire him if he's Catholic?
Ok so the FDA is meeting to discuss mix matching vaccines. I'd rather get an mRNA booster.
A f*cking college shouldn't be paying 3 f*cking million dollars for someone to coach a kid's game!

Correct. The state exemptions are very strict, as in, you've got to show that not only do you object to this vaxx, but your doc will vouch, "Yeah, I don't give this guy anything because of [legit medical reason]."
Lots of talk about people going and getting other jobs because "F the Gov" but they all mostly backed down. Probably when they realized all the other big employers will also require a shot.
So it's not exactly sympathy I'm feeling as I read about this guy and my 8yo son waits on his Covid test results.

I haven't heard anything like this, and given my dad has had 2 bouts of cancer, I would like to find out the peer-reviewed data you have that indicates this.

Fun fact: he's roughly my age and grew up in the same town that I grew up in. I know this because my mom likes telling me that I'm not the most embarrassing man to have grown up in that town.
Oh Jesus, I am so sorry Australians that American right wingers have seized upon you as literally a dictatorship for handling COVID well.
On the other hand, you did give the world Rupert Murdoch, so six one.
We aren't the target audience of that message. Almost everyone here knows it is a lie and a tiny, very noisy minority are pointing at it to prove "TyRaNy!!"
We will push through 90% fully vaccinated here by the end of the year. The combination of carrots and sticks are helping get through.

They only hire Christians.*

We have this odd dynamic in Australia. States which were largely COVID-free (Queensland and WA) are now begging their people to vaccinate because you can't win elections when other highly vaccinated states open to each other and the rest of the world. Complacency will kill. You also can't say no to tourism dollars from the two most populous and wealthy states forever.
My boy just got his 2nd Pfizer jab today and he mentioned his classmates are nearly all vaccinated, at least those eligible being 12 years old. Then again, my local government area and its surrounds have around 95% first jab rate, thus it's a reflection of prevailing sentiment in our part of Sydney. Like Bruce said, Aussies for the overwhelming part are compliant with vaccine programmes but you'll always have pockets of irrationality and selfishness and those are the fools we saw protesting months ago. I just hope they didn't make matters worse in the US because our positions aren't comparable given the high level of vaccination across the country here compared to large areas like Texas and Florida having stubborn refusals to get the jab.
edit: eh well past the moment, not worth it
edit2: quote is not edit, fail city this morning

It gets worse. That guy was the highest paid state employee in the entire state.
Yeah we only pay ours 2.7 million but he is still the highest paid state employee..
In Kentucky it's 2 basketball coaches at the top of that list, then the 2 football coaches.
I am utterly unshocked by the Nevada one.
The one that gets me is Hawaii. That has to be the University of Hawaii. Even a mediocre group of 5 school's coach, who makes a fraction of what the major headlining coaches are making, can top out their state.
Who is the basketball coach in CA?
Gonzaga?
The article is suspect. Chip Kelly is the UCLA football coach. Definitely not basketball.
Michigan is also not a basketball coach: Jim Harbaugh.
The article is suspect.
The link may be old. But if I were guessing it is the UCLA basketball coach, and the new contract that Juwan Howard got as the UM hoops coach.
Gonzaga is a private school (Catholic) in Washington, and thus exempt from this list.
They've updated it then:

nvm

I knew that ;P
UCLA basketball coach makes more than Kelly @ $3.3mil? Wow!
edit: yup he sure does at $4mil (Mick Cronin)
In their effort to breathlessly cover the handful of selfish morons who still refuse to get vaccinated they've slept on the biggest COVID vaccination success story: Puerto Rico.
72.2% of all Puerto Ricans are now fully vaccinated, beating out even Vermont and Connecticut by several percentage points.
Because of this they also have the lowest community transmission rate in the country: just 18 positive cases per 100K population and a 7-day positive test rate of under 3%. They and the Northern Marianas Islands are the only "moderate transmission" yellow in a sea of red "high transmission."
And while us mainlanders have had to deal with red state governors who seem to actively want to kill teachers and students and brainwashed parents whining about 'freedom' Puerto Rico had vaccinated 98% of its school workforce back in March. March.
And 90 percent of Puerto Rican students aged 12 to 17 have gotten at least one dose because schools mandated proof of vaccination before they could return to classrooms. This compares to the mainland average of just 59%.
Kinda makes you wonder how many people might still be alive today if it wasn't for Fox News and the horse paste grifters.
