NCAA Football 2021-22 Season

Ed Orgeron to leave LSU after the season. I guess he could go back to his first job with the Muppets:

There's a very good non-football reason why Ed Orgeron is leaving LSU but since it's an Athletic article, you'll have to settle for the tweets with the excerpt.

"We need a coach that is gonna leave our wives alone."

"Well I know a guy that's definitely more into co-eds."

Since the rest of the CFB world doesn't pay attention to football west of Texas, you'll just have to continue to get your Pac-12 news from yours truly.

For what (little) it's worth, my daughter started at ASU this fall so now I have to pay attention. Last night was not so good.

It's the top reply to that tweet, but it's too good not to steal. IMAGE(https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FB645-XX0AEJjgs?format=jpg&name=small)

Welcome! Unfortunately losing to an unranked team in the Pac-12 means you are basically done with the playoffs. Thankfully we play for something much more important here in the Rose Bowl, which ASU I believe is still very much in the hunt for.

This is a BAD look, Tennessee. Y'all be hitting your own cheerleaders.

Mostly peaceful crowd with a some really uncalled for actions that came from the student section.

I was there and left after the wacky spot that was what set them off. I was on the other end of the stadium. UT had a strip sack for a touchdown called back in the first half because...reasons...even though nobody blew a whistle. Then Ole Miss started doing the player injury stunt to slow down momentum, which UT then started doing as well. That got everybody fired up watching guys fall down between plays looking like they were shot by a sniper from the press box. Then the questionable spot that everybody thought at the time had ended the game. Stuff was out of control for awhile on the field. Then morons were morons. Disgusting.

Really sad because up until that point, the stadium was rockin' like it hadn't since that OU game somewhere around 2015 or 2016. Amazing atmosphere.

Side note, this official crew was the one that screwed up the Memphis v Mississippi State game on multiple calls earlier this year. To the point where the SEC had to issue a statement about them.

Not that UT helped itself enough to win. A dropped punt early in the game deep in your territory that resulted in pretty much an uncontested touchdown, a couple of earned penalties immediately before the questionable spot, and other errors just kept them from having enough to win it. But they fought hard, and didn't deserve for the game to be known for the student crap.

Matt Corral from Ole Miss is the real deal.

BTW, heard the best line about the end of the game on a radio show host's podcast from a caller:

"The only person* that should have been throwing stuff at the end the game ran out of bounds as the clock expired"

*Joe Milton, backup transfer QB that took over after the starter (transfer QB from VT) got injured late. Seemingly oblivious to the situation that required a touchdown with no time on the clock.

Yeah, Vols are playing way better than I expected. Honestly think y'all would have made a game of it against the Gators if it wasn't in the Swamp, seemed like the crowd kinda helped snow ball things on your guys in that game.

I do hope that Hooker is OK though, as Milton is not going to take you guys anywhere.

Milton apparently has the arm strength of Thor, but the throwing touch of Juggernaut.

UT started the season with 71 scholarship players. And we've had several key injuries. I'm happy to see the fight, the defense is way better than the bullfighter "Ole!" style I had expected with what we had left after the transfers. And if only we can get some kids convinced to come play in this system, I think Heupel might be better than I'd hoped long term.

Lots of ifs, but at least it is more fun losing in a shootout than a blow out.

And it looks like Rolovich is out at WSU for his refusal to get vaccinated. Nice job buddy.

Updated the header, for WSU's victory of science over idiocy.

Battle for the bottom of the Pac-12 as Cal hosts Colorado on what will likely be a wet and dreary saturday afternoon. What better way to catch pneumonia than to watch 2 of the worst teams in the country play live at lovely Memorial stadium!

Couldn't beat Cal in Oxford... so maybe not THAT good?

Yeah, as a redshirt freshman.

He's somewhat improved since then.

Carson Strong could beat Cal.. at Cal.. pick that guy first (you haven't given up on Trevor Lawrence already have you Legion?)

Anyways, the other Ole Miss guy who coudln't beat Cal was Shea Patterson.. and he had some WR named DK Metcalf, pictured.

One of these days, I'm going to have to put this "beat/couldn't beat Cal" metric for measuring draft prospects to the test.

Hey App St beat another ranked team last night. Yes, Wed night football!

Of course it was Coastal Carolina... not exactly Michigan.

I’m pretty sure most of the NFL outside of these SEC, ACC and B12 teams either are beat Cal or havent played. In the case of Ole Miss though, the Venn diagram of players who haven’t beat Cal and haven’t beat Alabama is a circle, so there is that.

So with the Bog 12 raiding the AAC, the AAC is now in turn raiding Conference USA. I won’t bore you with the details, but my Marshall is not being targeted to move. The Sun Belt is reportedly targeting the remaining teams, but I don’t know how you stretch the Sun Belt to Huntington, WV.

Easy, you find the the four hollers in the state that have a southern exposure, then go door to door until you find that one person actually wearing a belt, and boom, perfect match.

AAC tried to raid the Mountain West first, and failed.

They weren't trying to take Fresno, which obviously is why it failed, because Fresno's clearly the glue holding everything together.

Man, between Carl saying the SEC is in the NFL and Upto saying "the Bog 12", there are some delightful freudian slips in here!

Oklahoma on upset alert vs Kansas!

Edit: Aged like milk

Oh Kansas. We dared to dream.

Hah I tweeted that

EAT IT VIRGINIA TECH

And Cal Wins 26-3 over Colorado and can safely claim "Not Worst" in the Pac-12.

Spoiler:

Now the fact that Cal crushed a team that played A&M as closely as Alabama did, is a totally ridiculous and irrelevant transitive property argument on how Cal would beat Bama. However if someone other than Alabama or Georgia (and that is an OR, not AND) in the SEC thinks they deserve a playoff spot then they too will have a ridiculous and irrelevant argument, so I'll just park it here behind a spoiler and won't say any more of it unless I need to in a month or so.

GO BEARS! One step closer to 7-5! I think the math still plays out that we can make the Rose Bowl?

Tennessee was down 7 to Alabama in the fourth quarter before the collapse happened. They're way undermanned after all the transactional players left before the investigations got to them. But the team that stayed is showing some promise for the future if the new staff can recruit.

I haven't seen Saban that mad many times in the last few years. So that's fun.
