Added and hearted on Apple Music and Spotify.

Pretty cool.

Is he a marathoner?

Temporary band update: our gig was supposed to be today but has been postponed due to the current COVID situation here (the organisers weren't confident they could run the event safely). Crappy!

Plan is to do it hopefully in a couple of months when things have settled down. In place of our final (cancelled) rehearsal, the band met for a beer and to discuss options. There was a general agreement we should meet up and do some more rehearsals without waiting for the store to plan more when a new date is set, plus our singer threatened us with a potential pub gig that he may have a line on (!!).

That all said, I've got a load of fun and learnt a lot playing with these folks... even if the gig never happens it's been well worth it.

Where my sequencer musicians at?

FYI, if any of you do stuff with MIDI instruments, you should really check out Spitfire LABS. They do some very cool VSTs that are absolutely free including sampling an Ondes Musicales, and most recently, Philip Glass's grand piano.

(They also have very nice paid plugins.)

I adore Spitfire's Labs series. So much good stuff for absolutely nothing.

Oh my goodness, this is excellent.

I sign up for nearly everything, gets you a lot of free stuff, but weirdly I've never signed up for Spitfire Audio. What an amazing range of tools and toys.

My nephew's school occasionally puts on a live streamed shows and as a proud uncle I am obligated to post this here. His set starts at 1:03:00. He is the bass player.

For those who aren't aware, Orchestral Tools (another top tier sample library developer) offers a line of free instruments similar to SA's LABS series called SINEfactory. There's some really excellent stuff in there:

Neat! Thank you!

A couple of guys in my band did this awesome cover of Attack on Titan's Rumbling that I thought I would share here.

Also definitely check out Kevin's channel (Tuning the World) there if you like Anime covers, like this Cowboy Bebop one. He's killing it. Also in other news we're working on album 3 with a hopeful release date of this year and lining up shows to finally get back out there! Here's to 2022 being a better year for musicians!

New strings, new strap, and a new Snark to get ready for summer jams. Got great service from our own MusicMan who is now the manager of a store in NoVA.

My latest song is out, it's an industrial cover of a garages track called Stars of Tomorrow.

It's on Bandcamp, or you can listen to it at 27:40 into the youtube stream:

It was a lot of fun to make, I really enjoy wildly changing the genre of a song.

The original is a slower, more electronic track (19:35 in if the time in the link doesn't work):

Hooray new Garages album! I am so far behind.

Anyone ever play a Martin Backpacker? Starting to travel more and considering buying one.

YMMV so take what I say with a grain of salt. I thought about it, played on it, didn't care for the sound, but I know that's 100% personal preference because I liked the tone of other types better and knew I probably wasn't going to be taking it anywhere. I found the sound to be a bit sharper than I prefer. The feel of it before playing was interesting (as a smaller chubby person with t-rex arms, I found the hold and positioning to be more comfortable than a traditional guitar - more titty room - but would take some getting used to because it's a bit unusual due to the body size and shape that makes you hold it differently than a traditional guitar. It was easier on my wrists than a traditional guitar for sure). I think the reviews I'd seen on it are true in that it's good to play a few tunes at a gathering somewhere informal or to maintain practice and skill while being away from your home guitar, but it didn't jump out at me as an ideal performance instrument. I'd passed it up and ended up hemming and hawing between the little martin and the baby taylor instead (and then got overwhelmed and ended up with the taylor mini g, because it sounded the prettiest).

Thanks for the long post! I have a little martin and love it, but looking for something specifically that I can carry on a plane, and the little martin is just a bit big I think. I definitely don't want it for a gigging guitar, just something to keep up practice when away from home.

Haha yeah it seems like you're the specific demographic that this particular instrument is designed for! Have you had any luck with calling the local shops to see if they carry a floor model just to try?

Not yet - we have been on our first vacation since plague world began and i am jonesing for a guitar, which has led to a lot of online shopping and my questions about the backpacker:) My local guitar shop has one and I'll giver her a try soon!

This might be of interest to you: Foldable guitar.

Tell me what you think when you do! I feel like I didn't give it a fair shake and was going in with a lot of different expectations.

For our rhythm players and songwriters in the house. Also my namesake makes an appearance (mixolydian mode).

David Bennet does a lot of good videos of really basic breakdowns, he's very good. A lot of YouTubers run through stuff quickly then say, 'for more details buy my course' which is their right obviously, got to earn a living, but a bit aggravating sometimes.

I found the videos about the Circle of Fifths Progression and Pachelbel's Canon Progression illuminating.

During Sweetwaters gearfest I upgraded my guitar interface from a presonus audiobox to the Audient sono. Huge, huge, difference in quality. What I noticed most is that it actually pushes my amp sims to be louder and more natural sounding. I also really enjoy not having to boot up anything if I just want to noodle or practice something since it has a preamp and valve all on board.

Ooooh, very nice. I'm planning on getting a proper interface in the next few months as I pivot to doing audio work, but I probably can't justify something quite that rich initially and will get an Arturia Minifuse.

But the Sono with load box features etc is very sweet. Even pretty good value too. My 'interface' is a Rocksmith cable at the moment.

I played a little bone in my music career (we'll just let that pass). If this game were $5, I'd get it no questions.

I rarely laugh out loud at funny stuff, but this got me laughing. Tears level laughing.
