What are you playing this weekend?

I'll probably focus on continuing NG+ of Final Fantasy XIV. I'm about halfway through Stormblood now, so maybe I'll wrap that up, or at least get close. Not enjoying it as much as revisiting Heavensward, but there are still nuggets of good stuff in there.

Metroid Dread of course

A little of the new and shiny Metroid Dread, while I focus on advancing in Monster Hunter Stories and Metroid: Samus Returns.

More Days Gone for me.

I'm definitely playing Ys VIII: Lacromisa of Dana this weekend as part of the JRPG club. Going to try to finish Ch. 2, which seems to be going on for a while. And I've got a little baseball on the mind because of the MLB playoffs, but since my team is nowhere near being in the hunt, I may fire back up Super Mega Baseball 3, since I was having a good time playing that earlier in the year.

Some more Pathfinder (just gone through the Grey Garrison, so baby steps at the moment), For light relief, I shall attempt to stir up trouble in Far Cry 6.

Had to pick Celeste up on PS4 sale, so some of that. Some more Brawlhalla, turning into a pretty good mindless chill 10 mins here and there. Signed up for a couple of Agricola tournaments on Board Game Arena. Try and get some mini painting for Blood Bowl in.

Metroid Dread on my new OLED Switch and maybe something else…

Things I haven't thought I would type for at least a decade...

I am planning on playing Metroid Dread and the follow up to Sword and Sworcery, Jett: the Far Shore this weekend.

I’ve only played it was co-op. Not sure if I’d play a lot solo. It’d probably be great fun.

Co-op is fantastic. Spikeout and I have played through on regular and now we’re working through on Rift Master difficulty. You really need to work on and evolve a strategy, keeping an eye on what works and trying new things.

It tells you something that, on the latest map we’ve been working on, we missed getting five skulls (which means doing it within a tight time limit) by six seconds. We kept working on it and had a run that felt a lot faster. We’d still missed by four seconds. More runs and we did one at top speed, missing five skulls by one second. Any other game we might not even have tried for five skulls let alone keep going at it over and over. We finally did it at ten seconds under the time (and eleven seconds under our previous best time )

Continuing my Galactic Scale Dyson Sphere Program playthrough. Researched all the tech and upgrades possible before white science. Got my "Sphere Factory" up and running, though I do need to balance my rocket:sail ratio a little better. Way too many sails being shot up there right now. Having got my MK2 and MK3 buildings being produced, it's time to start increasing production rates. Also need to find a source of monopoles for white science production.

So not much happened on DSP this week due to:

Comments in the Total War:Warhammer thread have spurred me to try another Dawi campaign. This time it's slash and burn, baby! They've made some nice little changes to the UI since I last played.[/quote]

So yeah, more Cannons, Quarrellers, and Longbeards!

I was about to say Spikeout has been raving about it to me. Sounds like the same duo telling us how good it is. Maybe they just like hanging out haha.

Fine, I'll chime in and say it is a great deal of fun too! Feels a little lonely on Steam though...

Aww I'll play with you, bug.

Learning to love Fire Emblem 3 Houses. I'm pleased to report that I've done a complete 180 on this game and can't get enough now.

Also my usual FFXIV. Levelling a red mage and enjoying it a lot!

Between that, Magic the Gathering Arena! Go zombie control go!

I'm making my way through Tales of Arise. This is a cute game! I'm probably also gonna play something this weekend not so cute, but I'm still deciding.

Sekiro, Sekiro and more Sekiro. This date with Lady Butterfly is really grinding my gears!

I may have some time to sprinkle in a bit o' Cyberpunk 2077 as well.

It's more Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous for me! I really want to finish this game.

If I get some gaming time, likely more Final Fantasy XIV, some Sunshine Heavy Industries and maybe I'll finally pass that mission I'm stuck on in Marvel's Avengers.

All this Far Cry 6 talks makes me want to revisit 5. Also looking for a pearlgas fish in Trails in the Sky SC.

DMing more Tomb of Annihilation! My players are level 5 with some NPC help and we'll start the session with an encounter with an undead T-Rex that burps up zombies!

We do enjoy hanging out. It’s true!

This is the episode where the RKG boys faced Lady Butterfly. Ostensibly the series is a Dark Souls newbie, Rory, playing through the games guided by two fans of the genre but actually, as inexperience as he once was, Rory has become a skilled player. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get hung up on bosses and they do learn a few tricks to deal with her (might not be anything you don’t already know.) I find they collectively have a good mental approach to bosses which I learned from.

I’m going to try Sekiro eventually but I suspect many of the fights will be comfortably above my skill level.

I’m playing the Battlefield 2042 beta on PS4. I played a ton of Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3 and 4 but didn’t get into BF1 or BF5. This feels like coming home. Tons of atmosphere and just marvelling at the chaos and skill of others as I hop about from role to role. One minute I’m in a loose swarm of infantry fighting to take a point and the next I’m the gunner in a tank or a spotter in a Littlebird helicopter as it hurtles about the sky trying to avoid missile lock.

It’s eminently playable on PS4 but you can see that the extra graphical power of the PS5 will make it shine.

Thanks for the RKG video, Higgeldy. I skipped ahead to the Bufferfly fight and picked up a couple tips from watching their fails. Glad that it wasn’t “spoiled”. I wouldn’t say the guy lucked his through but it was definitely a combination of pushing through, luck and putting some lessons together at the right time.

Had today off since it's Canadian thanksgiving. Really didn't get up to much, got bored and popped in Metal Gear Solid 2 from the MGS Collection into the Xbox 360.

Man... I just found it unplayable.

Splitgate. Might even seek out a GWJ team now that I've got the hang of it.

Detroit: Become Human I think I am enjoying this more than most people did. Or at least there was a pretty vocal subset of folks who disliked it. Then again I have liked most of Quantic Dream's other stuff, so maybe I am predisposed to enjoy it.

I started up a new game of Divinity Original Sin 2 because I have a few months until I start studying again. Plenty of time for a meaty RPG.

I've forgotten almost everything, except how robust and difficult the opening act is. I only barely got past it last time I played, so I'm excited to get further this time.

Truly, is this the best cRPG ever made? It certainly ranks up there for me. Hell, probably one of the best PC games (yes I know it's on consoles too but it still very much feels like a PC game )

I’m playing Divinity Original Sin 2 with a friend. We’ve been playing for months and only just got out of the ‘starter area.’ The fights are tough but we’ve just got through each time. I now have a ring that can summon a fire slug, which is the best thing ever. One of the slugs attacks is ‘Slug Rush’ the other is ‘Lazer Ray.’ They are as impressive as they sound.

Amazing. I need this ring.
