It's unfair, but that'll never go away.

The why that won't go away is the problem.

An old high school classmate of mine actually said the following:

"The Denver secondary is horrible"
"Lamar Jackson can't hit the short, precision throws"
"The Ravens have all but given up on the short passing game"
and
"Those deep throws outside the numbers are the EASY ones"

I sh*t you not. This is literally what they are down to.

And these are the f*ckwits I went to school with.

Yep. Kinda like how Trey Lance had his recruiting designation switched from "QB" to "ATH" against his will, hence having to go to the FCS level to play quarterback. Never mind he led his high school to the state tournament for the first time since the '80s. And even at the high school level, he had to insist on playing QB when they had designs on him at RB.

These guys are having to fight against the stereotypes and pigeonholing when they're still children.

Wow. That is like anti-vaxxer level of misinformation. That is easily the stupidest non-Jaguar football thing I will read this week.

Everyone remember he said that when the next stupidest non-Jaguar football thing happens.

Which is why Joey Slye is a former Panther

Hey, that's the new 49ers kicker you're slandering.

Niners sign Slye as Robbie Gould is suffering from a groin injury, apparently sustained in pregame last week, hence the punter attempting PATs.

Too bad Chase McLaughlin seems to have found his forever home in Cleveland. He was a great replacement during the last Gould injury.

Gilmore is released?

Belichick is going to Belichick.

Jaylon Smith released.

Someone release a great d line player who wants to come play for nothing for the Packers please.

I guess in some bizzaro world Gilmore could work where Kevin King is released. Stokes + Gilmore on the sides and Alexander comes back healthy to be super slot coverage player popping up with crazy picks. But this is fan fiction. Again.

Was only half watching Packers Steelers because it was over early.

I think you watched the wrong game, because the Steelers were going to be leading at halftime until a terrible ref call took away a blocked field goal touchdown. Put that 10 point swing back on the board, and you get a final score of 24-24.

Meh. That's twice a year when we play the Steelers.

Considering how most defenses get called for roughing the passer because the ball is in the air in the frame before the defender touches the QB lightly, I really don't know what else defenses are supposed to do when Lamar decides he wants to act like a runner besides hit him like an RB. Cam and Ben also had to put up with never getting called for roughing the passer, back in the days where Ben had 2 working knees.

Edit: also, it should be pretty obvious to anyone that it was not personally about the Broncos. It was about obliterating a record that is sacred to the Steelers.

Well played, and I like Harbaugh. I actually like all of the AFC North rivalries except for the Bengals, because Burfict and the rest of the team by association are the actual dirty players.

San Francisco needs to be blowing up Gilmore's phone right about now.

The only thing I regret about watching that video on top of all the links and images I've seen over the last few days is that The Algorithm probably now thinks I'm a Jags fan.

It is my hope that as the almost Guardians are not in the playoffs, hopefully the Browns front office is getting on the phone to my boy Stephy G.

I suspect Tampa and Green Bay might be joining that panic-party. I mean, he's already hurt, right? He'd fit in on the Bucs.

Tampa landed Sherman, they can sit this one out.

Probably depends on how bad the Jaire Alexander injury is.

Considering finite cap space etc pass rush (Zadarius Smith*) and D line are probably higher priorities.

I have I feeling wherever Gilmore lands I'll be cursing. Totally will be a NFC contender.

Edit: didn't realize the Packers have 7m in cap space currently so ya they can make some moves. November 2nd is the deadline if it's via trade and not one of these random players that keep getting cut.

Hey, that's the new 49ers kicker you're slandering.

Slye's a fine kicker but weirdly inconsistent. He'll hit from 70 in practice, 55+ in games and then shank an XP at random times just because.

That said, the Panthers aren't exactly great judges of kicking talent. They drafted Harrison Butker in 2017 but let the Chiefs sign him off their practice squad. Butker appears to be Kicker for Life in KC.

The Panthers ended up ruining and eventually cutting the guy they kept, Graham Gano. As a Giant, Gano managed to kick 37 FGs in a row before his streak ended this week.

Carolina, meanwhile, is on its second kicker already this season. No 2 (I don't bother to learn their names) missed from 54 on Sunday and then the Cowboys ripped off 23 straight points. It's always something.

Just saw that Gilmore's latest Instagram follows are Bruce Arians and Jason Licht . . .

The algorithm is smart enough to know the Jags don't have fans.

2021 NFL Season Rushing Touchdown leader?

Sam Darnold

Reports: Justin Fields is now Chicago's starter and Gilmore signs with the Panthers.

I hope the team is an utter disaster on Sunday, against a Titans team that just lost to the Jets.

This may be the first week in which I actively cheer for a Jaguars loss since week 8 2013*. Because if they win after this hell week, it's going to paper over the issues and help drag things out longer. If the week of distractions is followed by the team being wretched on Sunday, it might spark change.

(*: when the Harbaugh 49ers played against a going-nowhere Gus Bradley Jags team. I cheer for whichever team needs the win for a playoff run - in 2017 it was the Jags, who of course got torched by Jimmy G and lost anyway.)

That was a stunner. But maybe Carolina figures Gilmore can do some things that CJ Henderson can't do, like, oh, I dunno, tackle.

It's weird that a .500-caliber team is in win-now mode but I guess it makes sense because the Panthers could very easily be 8-3 or even 9-2 on Thanksgiving. (Upcoming schedule: Eagles, Vikings, Giants, Falcons, Patriots, Cardinals and WFT).

It's also possible by then that the Panthers are 5-6 and have 20 cornerbacks on the roster. Who's to say?

Carolina gets one good look at C.J. and aggressively jumps on the very next corner they could find, lol

One good look?! Rhule admitted that Henderson was high on their draft board in 2020 (Carolina took Derrick Brown at No 7 two spots before Henderson went to Jax) and they've been trying to trade for him ever since.

Maybe the Panthers don't realize that Gilmore is hurt? That would be kinda on-brand for them, seeing as they really really really wanted Teddy B a year ago and then promptly square-pegged him.

David Tepper trading away draft picks appears to be a normal thing now.

Figured there'd be some contract renegotiation going on, but nope, he's playing out his deal. You'd think there would have been an offer better than a 2023 6th because of the potential upside here.

Well without a contract renegotiation, it makes way more sense why the Panthers walked away the winners, because there aren't many other teams that could fit his current contract in this depressed cap year. Carolina was 2nd in cap space behind only the Duval County Dumpster Fires.

Tampa, Green Bay, and San Francisco all could not fit the deal as-is, and Cleveland in practical terms most likely could not either. There's really only a handful of teams in the league who could comfortably fit another ~$10-11 million on their 2021 cap.
