Genshin Impact Gacha-of-the-Wild All

I've been wondering if Kokomi will be able to slot into a freeze team in place of Xingqiu or how she'll do paired with Raiden Shogun for Electro-charged. I'm past caring about how she starts at a minus 100 crit rate, and now thinking how well she slot in and work with others.

For everyone who complained about Yoimiya when she came out I'm currently having a blast running with her and Raiden Shogun and having them completely destroy everything. I'm thinking the same sort of interesting pairings could be found with Kokomi.

Yeah, there's been plenty of debate on how well she will be able to apply hydro to enemies. It all blew up when people realized her jellyfish attacks 6 times over it's 12 second duration, meaning every 2 seconds, just below the icd of 2.5, meaning it could only apply hydro on every other attack. I've heard that they reduced the skills icd so it applies hydro every tick, but there will be on confirmation on that till she is released.

Personally I keep thinking of teams she would do well in, even with reduced hydro applying. The only thing that will make me hold off on her is waiting to hear what re-runs we will see in 2.3. I may just have to wait till the last few days of her banner to make the decision on Kokomi.

I'm going to wait and see if she can serve as a Mona replacement for me as I'm missing her for the Morgana team. If she can serve, I'll be down to pull.

Bilibili had a somewhat different version, even differing from the official Chinese YouTube version, starting at 1:46

I just finished the new Abyss. There's a lot of talk about how it's another difficulty spike, but just like the last couple, I found it easier than the several Abyss rotations before 2.0 hit. I had so much more trouble with the defense sections and the floor 12 with multiple Abyss Lectors. Having access to strong meta teams certainly helps me here.

Floor 11 is a little tricky. You can either try to burn it down in a hurry or take your time and heal up. If you're going to try to burn through, you need a healer with an AOE group heal, so Jean, Barbara, Qiqi, or maybe Sayu. I opted for a combination of the two.

IMAGE(https://i.imgur.com/zx4tY0w.png)

I used Morgana for the first half, but I substituted out Diona for Jean's burst healing. This let me spam through my AOE burst and top off with Jean's burst off cooldown. I should point out that I have a C2 Ganyu, so taking Diona out doesn't hurt my Ganyu's energy gain quite as much as it would a C0 Ganyu. It should still be fine with a C0 Ganyu though. It just might require a bit more time.

I used Childe vape for the 2nd half. I tried burning through this side too on the first attempt, but that proved to be quite difficult. It was also totally unnecessary. My Ganyu team could clear the first halves in 60-90 seconds which gave me 3-4 minutes to clear the 2nd halves for a 9 star clear. I'd use my cooldowns to take down the big enemy in each group, then stall with Bennett heals while waiting for the Corrosion stacks to wear off.

Floor 12 is more of a straight DPS check this time. I almost didn't make the time on chamber 2 because using Ganyu against the Maguu Kenki fight is tricky, but I was thankfully able to make up the time against the 2nd half of the chamber. Chamber 3 looks particularly tough, but Morgana is a silly comp. I killed the two ruined guardians in 20 seconds, which left me enough time to Childe Vape through the Mechanical Array with 25 seconds to spare.

I'm not sure if I've linked to this before, but a reddit user has been making fantastic Abyss infographics for each new update. I use these as a reference to plan my teams.

The full post also has images for floors 9 and 10, as well as thoughts about the Abyss update as a whole.

I spent this week trying to get Yoimiya a 4 piece Shimenawa's Reminiscence artifact set that would be better than the 2 piece Crimson Witch/2 piece Gladiator she was currently using. It took a lot of farming and in the end I got something that was a little bit of an improvement, but there's still plenty of room improve.

The 2 Crimson Witch pieces then went to Xiangling to replace what she was using- which made me realize her other artifacts were lacking - some hadn't been leveled at all. Plus her weapon could stand to be maxed out.

This got me looking at some other characters I used only for occasional support and looking at simple ways to improve them- like leveling neglected artifact and a few key weapons. After a lot of unused artifacts getting eaten up for XP fodder, and almost all my weapon upgrade crystals being used up, I think I've got a noticeably improved roster. Hopefully, I'll find it suitably strong when I take on floor 11- and maybe floor 12 this time around.

Can someone go into some detail on what co-op is like in this, opinions on it and how to unlock

Ok, quick rundown:

  • It will unlock once you reach Adventure Rank 16
  • You can only join someone of your own World Level or lower
  • Archon, Story, and a few misc quests can not be done in co-op, if someone is in one of them other players will not abel to join
  • There is still a limit of four characters, so with two players each player gets two characters, with three the world owner gets two the others get one each, and with four everyone gets one character
  • Enemies' HP and damage does increase as more players join, but not at the same rate that your potential damage does (at four players enemies only get a 250% HP increase, while having four characters on field at the same time means you are dealing up 400% damage)
  • You receive twice the companionship XP while in co-op
  • Collectable world resources (such as flowers, berries, and other on map resources) can only be collected by whomever picks them up first
  • Most resources that spawn due to actions (such as monster drops or breaking ores) are spawned for everyone (not chest rewards, those are only given to the world owner)
  • Many things can't be interacted with, such as many NPCs, by any player, while guests can't interact with chest, steelie, monuments, etc

Not going to lie, that last video may have sealed the deal for me to attempt to roll for her. I liked a lot of what I saw. Still I'm going to wait a bit and see- want to wait until after the login event for the free 10 wishes (and by then we'll know exactly how stingy they'll be with any other anniversary rewards).

One thing I about her kit though- just like Xingqiu, she "wets herself" when she uses her skill. Why do hydro characters do this? It's not like any of the pyro characters set themselves on fire when they use their skills...

Its an advertised feature of Hydro characters!

Best Kokomi video you'll see day one...

That Ganyu/Venti/Kaeya/Kokomi team is exactly why I'd pull for her. I'll wait for some more analysis to come out, but it sure looks promising.

Yeah, that'd be awesome... if I had Ganyu... or Venti...

If I pull and get Kokomi I'll be trying out a Kokomi, Ayaka combo for sure. Add another cryo for support and maybe Fischl for some sparks.

EDIT: And I've tried the test run and I'm in love.

Well I got a 5 star water girl on the first set of packs I ever bought. Im guessing there's a secret 'beginners luck' mechanic to give folks an early bit of excitement for a 'lucky' get.. Also got 4 other characters (Barbara, Razor, the maid, and Saya) as I spent the early free stuff. Kinda got overwhelmed with new stuff so Im mentally catching up to see whats what.

Congrats! There actually is not any kind of beginner's luck mechanic.

There is a pity mechanic that guarantees you a 5* at 90 rolls if you haven't already received one. There's also something called "soft pity" that kicks in at 75 rolls and increases your odds of receiving a 5* for every roll beyond that. I don't think any of us have actually made it to 90 rolls before getting a 5*, but 80-85 is common. If you received a 5* within your first several 10 pulls, that's just good luck.

As far as the 4*s you pulled, Razor is a very strong early carry to build around if you like him. Barbara is really nice to have as an initial healer, but if you just pulled Kokomi, you'll probably just want to use her instead. Saya is also a healer, but she's really fun for exploration with her Sonic spin. Noelle can be nice to have early on for her tankiness, but given your plethora of healers, I'm not sure you'll have much use for her unless you just really enjoy the way she plays.

Yeah, sometimes you get lucky, but mostly you go to soft pity - 74-79 wishes in are were most of my 5-stars dropped.

But I did get lucky yesterday and got Kokomi within two ten pulls on this banner. Still building her, but I'm very happy with 1) getting her and 2) my luck.

It does however lower greatly how many 4-star constellations I'll be getting on this banner since I don't think it's worth it at all to pull for any of Kokomi's constellations. I did get Beidou to C1, and Xingqiu went from C2 to C4, which is nice. No constellations for Rosaria though, once again. She was one of my best built characters before Inazuma hit, but now I've got Ayaka, Yoimiya and Raiden Shogun that outperform her.

It’s survey time. In the open comment question I suggested that they allow Kokomi to re-deploy her jellyfish. It seems odd that she can’t do that. I also said if they wanted fishing to continue to be a thing they needed to add weekly rewards we could exchange fish for- like artifact XP or something.

Also I got Kokomi to level 70 with 5/5/5 talents and she’s already keeping my party alive just fine. I’ve got a R5 Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers that’s level 50, or I can craft an R4 Prototype Amber. Tomorrow I can farm for ascension materials for either- but I can’t decide. The Prototype Amber will do slightly more damage, and at high refinements will help get her energy back. However it is hard to argue with a 48% attack buff on the character you swap to for 10 seconds.

I've got Kokomi to level 80 along with a level 80 R5 Thrilling Tales. Thrilling Tales was the cheapest option for me since it's 3-stars and was already partly leveled, and I'm constantly low on resources. Her talents are now 6/7/7 and I'm having a lot of fun with her. It's giving me some team options where I don't rely on shields at all (I've been stuck in a Zhongli box for a while now).

Does she do damage? Ha, ha, ha... no. Maybe once I build her better, but so far I've only stolen a 2-peice Maidens Beloved set I had on Noelle, and the only two spare Tenacity of the Millelith pieces I had that weren't equipped by Zhongli or Diona. There's room to grow here in time. I've got a lot of farming to do.

I'm running her with Ayaka and Rosaria, and now my Ayaka has a 48% attack boost (Thrilling Tales) and around 100% crit rate against anything frozen (from Blizzard Strayer, Elemental Resonance, and Rosaria's Ult). Seeing as she's triple crowned and has over 200% crit damage, it's pretty sick.

Been playing around with the 4th slot on this team. Sayu is just fun for swirls and the VV bonus, plus added mobility if I'm exploring (I think everyone overlooks this character). Raiden Shogun is great for extra boosts/damage and getting the ults up faster.

If I posted this on reddit, I know I'd get a ton of people telling me I'm doing it wrong and Kokomi sucks, but I'm having a lot of fun with her and I'm glad she came home for me very early on this banner.

BTW, has anyone else been watching so many Genshin Impact videos on youtube that you're now afraid you're going to say "copium" in front of other people and they're going look at you like you're crazy?

I havent started studying the game, but I have been enjoying it. Spent $5 on the 300 gem, 90 prismathing per day thing to show my appreciation for the game in general.

There were some posts here a bit ago about a 'battle pass'. I dont see anything that would fit that description.

Not sure what adventure rank you are, but the Battle Pass unlocks at 20, so that might be why you don't see it yet.

Oh yeah. I'm 19.

polypusher wrote:

Yeah, definitely don't buy it when you hit 20 -- there's only two weeks left at this point, so you are VERY unlikely to get through all the levels before it resets. Worth considering the $10 level if you're playing from the start of a patch, though, since it you'll get a lot of useful resources plus a choice of one of five excellent four star weapons.

That said, you still can always just wait until the very end of the patch to decided if you care to drop the cash for the extra goodies, which I'd definitely recommend given how early you are in the game at this point.

When the Battle Pass unlocks there's a free version that you should see and be able to work towards some rewards (and the paid rewards is shown below it). It's a helpful guide to follow even for free players, similar to the Adventurer Handbook, that helps remind you of daily and weekly goals that will help you advance in the game. As you collect the free stuff, you'll see how far you have advanced before the next refresh. Most likely you'll just want to progress with the free stuff and learn how it works, and then next refresh in two weeks you'll know if you want to pay for the $10 version or not.

Edit:

Question: I just got my second 5-star weapon from the regular banner and it was Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds, and now I want to prioritize leveling up my C2 Ningguang so she can use it. Is it worth buying her C3 in the shop before the end of the month?

If you have spare currency, I’d say it is worth buying just about any character from the stardust shop that you haven’t C6ed, except maybe Lisa or Amber.

If you’re more limited on currency then I guess I’d save it for heavy hitter characters — and if you are going to build and use her, Ningguang definitely counts as that.

After taking 7-8 months off from the game I decided to jump back in this weekend. I'm a little surprised to not see more changes/additions to the game. If I remember correctly, I stopped playing shortly after they unlocked a large piece of the map, sort of a snowy mountain area. It doesn't look like the map has grown any since then. I'm noticing a few new characters but not much else so far.

My son has started playing too, not sure if he will end up sticking with it though. Should he do any pulls on the current banner or just wait? I don't think any of the current characters featured are main DPS material but I think Mona is decent as a support, right?

They recently added a whole 'nother nation, a series of islands in the far, far lower right of the map, but you can't access until you complete the Liyue story. So there actually is quite a bit, it just isn't as accessible or noticeable at first.

The banner showing Mona isn't a rate up banner. You have equal chance of Mona, Diluc, Qiqi, Jean, or Keqing. The featured banner, Kokomi, is perhaps the most divisive character the game has seen, a character pidgeoned-holed into a healer role like none we have ever seen. While I'm enjoying playing her, I knew exactly what I was pulling for, so if you think you or your son are going to stick with it, it is probably best to save your pulls for now.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch! But I've got some extra details here that might be useful.

It doesn't look like the map has grown any since then. I'm noticing a few new characters but not much else so far.

It actually has by quite a bit -- there's an new area of Japanese themed islands (Inazuma) to the south with roughly the same amount of territory as the original two countries (maybe slightly less?). However, you do need to progress through the main story before you unlock it.

Should he do any pulls on the current banner or just wait? I don't think any of the current characters featured are main DPS material but I think Mona is decent as a support, right?

Sounds like you might be looking at what we call the "standard" banner? Basically, there's one banner that's always there, which offers a random selection of base 5 star characters (Mona, Keqing, Diluc, Jean, Qiqi) and 5 star weapons, as well as nearly every 4 star character and weapon, but with no one actually featured with a specific rate up guarantee. Generally, it's NOT advisable to spend primogems to roll on that banner, although I'll spare you the long gory explanation unless you really care. That said, the game will occasionally give you "free" rolls in the form of items called "fates," and there is a specific type of fate just for the standard banner. So if you have those ("acquaint fates") then there's no reason not to roll them -- just don't keep rolling when it gets to the point where it asks you to spend primogems.

As for primogems and the other kind of fate -- "intertwined fates" -- those you might want to hold onto for a bit until you have a bit more familiarity with the game. Those are used for rotating pairs of banners that change "rate up" featured characters every three weeks -- one which focuses on characters (although it can also give you 4 star weapons), and another that focuses on weapons (although it can also give you 4 star characters). First off, DON'T roll on the weapon banner -- it's VERY rarely a good idea. Save all your intertwined fates and primogems for the rotating character banner, because new characters are going to add the most fun, flavor, and variety to the game.

Now, I'm not sure at what point the game will even show you the intertwined fates banners, but if you're seeing the current one, I'd say it's a decent one for a newer player to roll on -- not the best, but also not the worst.

The rate up 4 star characters are all pretty solid, although some of them require a bit more time and effort to get the most out of than others. The current featured 5 star character (Kokomi) is probably the best as a newer player, but she's going to be less useful as you pick up other characters. The biggest knock against her for a new player is probably that you are given a 4 star character (Barbara) pretty early on that covers a VERY similar niche. Kokomi is better, as you'd expect from her being a 5 star character, but since you'll get Barbara you'll never really feel a lack for what Kokomi can do. If you do roll Kokomi though, DEFINITELY don't bother putting resources into Barbara though, since you won't need both.

But, that being the case and given how rare 5 star character drops can be, I'd maybe consider just being happy with Barbara and saving your rolls until you have a chance to roll a character who fills roles that starter free characters don't cover (even if they don't do it quite as well).

Thanks for the info. I had told him to sit and not pull on the banners so it sounds like that wasn't awful advice.

Even though I'm almost adventure rank 30 it looks like I haven't done much of the Archon Quests yet. I was working on it last night though and it's looks like I'm only about at the end of Act1 of the Liyue storyline so I have a bit to go before I will get to see the extra map content.

Any thoughts on my current main team setup?

Ninngguang, Fischl, Xingqiu and Xiangling
