NFL 2021: The Week 3 thread

Hm just saw Chicago Cleveland score scroll by. And stats show Fields 1/1 for 11 yards... 10 min in the 2nd quarter.

How do you get through a full quarter without throwing more than 1 pass?

Now he's 4-of-11 for 47 yards, deep into the 3rd quarter.

As for the "how"... 6 sacks so far. I'm guessing holding onto the ball is still a problem.

Up to 7, 5 completions. From what I've half-watched, he's not really holding the ball too long, because pressure's basically immediate. The Bears also appear to be trying to turn him into a pocket passer as opposed to, say, maybe doing some rollouts to use his mobility and cut his reads in half. The announcers pointed out one time in the first half where he did a deep drop (so clearly not a quick pass), and LT Jason Peters tried to cut block the Myles Garrett, who, not shockingly, was able to avoid it and paste Fields. The Bears look so, so bad.

I'm gonna have to watch the replay of that game later this week.

Ravens, what are you doing?!

Garrett now has 4.5 sacks, and, on the last one, Jason Peters barely moved, so Garrett literally could just sprint full-bore at Fields. Peters has been so bad there is a legitimate chance he is actually dead on the field and nobody has noticed. I thought the Vikings' "nine penalties in the first half" against the Bengals was going to be the bad O-line game of the year, but, well, I think they have a challenger.

Heck of a drive from the Chargers to take the lead late over KC.

Edit: and then they botch the extra point. Of course.

Is that really Rob Ryan on the Ravens sideline?

You gotta be sh*tting me with that bounce.

Uhm.... breaking the NFL field goal record off or a crossbar bounce.

Justin Tucker, first ballot hall of famer

That was amazing. That kind of play can lead to a SB season.

He looked like somebody trying to look like Rob Ryan but he is apparently their LB coach.

I can't think of another 2-1 team who was as close to being an 0-3 team as the 2021 Ravens. The Edwards-Helaire fumble plus a crossbar bounce.

Any field goal that hits the crossbar and still goes in should be worth 6 points. This is my platform as I run for Commissioner in 2022.

EDIT: Rescinding my candidacy. Still need to figure out how doinks will affect scoring.

All three games could have gone either way.

But yeah, the Ravens clearly didn't play well today. Five drops is just brutal. That is the difference between 16/31 with 1TD and 1INT and 21/31 and a Jackson FIve.

The second that plane lands in Baltimore, Martin is going to have all of those receivers taking reps on the Juggs machine.

The previous longest ever field goal was also a game winner against the Lions

Legatron rules.

I love that Legion has mentioned record long field goals in numerous posts lately. It's almost like he manifested this.

Wake me up before the draft.

Jets Question: How soon is too soon to fire your OC?

I cannot remember the last time ALL of the football in and around New York City was this bad. Upstate NY is now king.

EDIT: Goff after Lions' tough loss: 'The gut punches will stop'

Just a delightfully bleak quote. The real-life version of "when does the hurting stop?"

Hey now, Rutgers isn't as bad as they normally are.

Desean Jackson. Still fast. Still taunting.

The Bucs' thinnest group was definitely the secondary, and injuries are starting to pile up. Brady's having a solid game, but Stafford's been throwing pretty much at will.

A big part of what got Robert Saleh hired in New York was that he was going to be bringing LaFleur with him.

Where LaFleur goes, I expect the entire regime goes.

High bar, that.

0-17, gotcha.

Wow, what an effort by Brissett to presumably send the game into overtime.

And we’re now in the scenario where NFL overtime rules are at their most stupid.

Both teams kicked field goals on their first possessions. Raiders now get the ball again and can score without the Dolphins getting a chance to respond.
